  • My family loves popcorn so it stands to reason that making healthy air-popped popcorn is the way to go. The Cuisinart easy pop is simple to use and creates a single ingredient popcorn without anything added to it. You add your toppings to your liking and to your dietary needs.
    When using the Cuisinart CPM-100 EasyPop Hot Air Popcorn Maker, keep in mind that the plastic top (which incidentally is BPA free - an important feature for our family) gets very, very hot so be careful when handling it after use.
    The plastic top includes a removable measuring cup. This cup can be used to melt butter (as mentioned, it does get very hot to the touch and will melt butter during the popping process) as well as to measure the amount of popcorn you use. You should not use more than what can fit in that little measuring cup at a time. It equals to about a quarter of a cup of unpopped popping kernels.
    Since we don't use butter in our house because of dairy allergies, our favorite topping for our hot-air popped corn is some sea salt, macadamia oil (for a delicious flavor) or olive oil, and a few sprinkles of nutritional yeast, which adds not only a good range of B vitamins, but it also adds a bit of a cheesy flavor to replace the one we lose but not adding dairy toppings to the popcorn.
    Popcorn is actually a very nutritious snack. A one ounce serving contains only 106 calories, 1.2 grams of fat (most of it polyunsaturated); 78 mg of potassium; 21 grams of carbs; not to mention fiber, protein, iron, vitamin B6 and magnesium. Of course, once you start to add toppings, you will need to take into account the nutritional components of whatever you are adding. But, you can keep it healthy. Using the Cuisinart CPM-100 EasyPop Hot Air Popcorn Maker, you have a clean slate with plain popcorn. Where you go from there is up to you!
    To make the popcorn using the Air Popcorn Maker, simply measure out the popcorn kernels using the mentioned measuring cup, pour the kernels into the base of the maker, make sure the plastic top and measuring cup are securely in place and turn on the unit. Place a bowl (for 1/4 cup of popcorn kernels, use at least a one-quart bowl, in front of the popcorn chute) and let the magic begin. It will take about 2-3 minutes for the kernels to heat up enough and pop out into the bowl. Do not place anything into the base of the unit except for the dry popcorn kernels. When the kernels have completed popping, turn off the unit. We like to keep it unplugged when it is not in use.
    Enjoying the nutritious snack of air-popped popcorn is quick and easy using this unit. Great for weight watchers and those who just simply love popped corn!

    POPFLIX POPCORN POPPET MAKER WARNING! Mine caught fire. The fan stopped working, but the heater kept heating. Smoke......FIRE.....! I used it four time...well three time and a popcorn camp fire in my kitchen. Now it stopped work altogether.. Chucking it out the window falling 12 stories might have something to do about that.

    Not mentioned in the video is the number of unpopped kernels blown into the receptacle before popping starts. I fashioned a screen-wire gate for my old West Bend popper that holds everything till I swing the gate up and let it blow into the receptacle. The gate bounces unpopped kernels back into the oven and also holds popped corn long enough that the unpopped kernels trapped within it cool a bit and don't pop in the receptacle.

      Just saw it now. If you still can do it, mine is cd@pobox.com. I got interested because I do the same thing ("kernel traffic control") by keeping the popper tilted a little bit to its back (so flying corn gets back into the chamber) until a few of them pop (from that point on, their weight will keep the flow of popped ones to the outside and unpopped on the inside). Works fine (I use a tiny box of mints to keep it on the right angle), but requires paying attention.

    I've owned a few air poppers through the year, and would like to notice for reviewers that complain on this not having a receptacle / throwing kernels / being noisy, I'd say no *air* popper I've ever seen so far does otherwise - this one at least seems to throw less than average :-) so I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the video, it helped me on my decision!

      @@bobsimmons1470 One thing I noticed is that all air poppers I had worked flawleslly if you titl them backwards a bit (so unpopped kernels bounce back inside). This one was no different, so it was just about finding the right thing to keep it tilted in a perfect angle and I got perfect popcorn all the time; served me for years before I lost it in some move!

    Hi Tony..I love hot air popcorn machines...eat popcorn every single day ..But ... only organic kernels , not the gmo chemical laiden kind
    I bought a Bella from Walmart , and the top plastic part has completely melted from the heat. I am now looking to buy another one , and this looks good ..what I like, is that unlike mine.. it does not spit kernels all over the counter and floor .
    My question is ..has your plastic top lasted..or are there any melt marks on it !

    People, how can anyone say this thing is acceptable? Did you noticed they edited out the first little bit? This thing leaves 1/3 to 1/2 of the kernels unpopped. It spits them on the door. I have tried pre warming, not warming, different types of popcorn... nothing works. The closest I can get is to tip it backward the whole time to stop unpopped kernels form coming out. If you do his and lift the bowl, you get a little bit better results. Mine literally ended up on the back lawn one night after it blowing kernels everywhere. It is now at the dump. Trust me, try something different.
    Anyone that claims different, please post an unedited video to show me.

    Does anyone really need a how to for using a hot air popper? About the only thing less complicated would be filling a glass with water or opening a tin of soup. The reason I watched the video was learn more about the popper itself, and more specifically I wanted to see the design of the actual popping canister inside the unit. Some canisters are vented from the bottom and not really recommended while other canisters are vented from the side which is better. I noted that someone commented on the time. This is a 1500 watt popper which makes it about has hot as a unit can get. It takes longer to pop small amounts because the stirring fan will keep the kernels spinning at a rate that cools them while it's heating them, but if you add the maximum recommended amount then the stirring slows down and the popcorn will heat much faster. The reason I wanted to see the canister was determine if the unit would make a good coffee roaster.

    • @Andral_Premier
      @Andral_Premier 9 років тому

      Legend's Guitar Forums The Cuisinart is a 1500W model, so it makes an excellent coffee roaster, as good as the 1440W Presto Popper model. However, due to longer coffee roasting times, expect a diminished life expectancy on both models, somewhere between 2 and 2.5 years. I’ve had my Presto since 1999, but just started roasting 250g of green coffee beans once a week about a year ago. The machine is still going strong. IMO, the Cuisinart and Presto Air Poppers are the most efficient and cheapest coffee roasters on the market. You can easily find them in the 20-30 dollar range if you shop around. You'll need to replace the cover and butter-melter by a metallic screen of some sort. I use a small colander which fits the hole and which I can lift, tilt and jiggle around lightly to allow floating chaff to escape. (This avoids burning and smoke.) You MUST use it outside because of this, unless you have a better solution to this problem.

    • @mhlgl7360
      @mhlgl7360 9 років тому

      andre id I'm always keeping an eye on possible replacements for my Poppery II and Popcorn Pumper. I've tried several other types and have noted that units vented at the bottom fail to stir the coffee beans adequately which makes the roast uneven, and some suggests that they could be damaged or even catch on fire by debris falling through a bottom vent. I find any popper over 1200 watts is more than adequate to do a proper roast. All I really wanted to know was if the canister is vented from the bottom or sides. I've since found out that it's vented from the bottom and many on coffee roasting sites don't recommend it.
      I've been roasting for a few years now and it's getting harder to find the older recommended units. Bottom venting is done to save money during manufacturing.

    • @Andral_Premier
      @Andral_Premier 9 років тому

      H Gaskins -
      I disagree with you when you say that bottom vented machines fail to stir the coffee beans adequately. The trick is to roast no more than ±150g at a time, and briefly stir the beans with a chopstick at the beginning, until the hot air takes over without further intervention. I get a "very even roast" every time, either 1, 1.5 or 2 cracks, with very little or no smoke at all. Chaff and debris CANNOT obstruct the vent screen at the bottom since air is blown upward. However, you will need to keep a metal screen over the top opening to catch escaping chaff or stop stray beans from flying out. (A small metallic colander is perfect for this.)I currently use the Presto Poplite (1440W), but the Cuisinart CPM-100 (1500W) appears to be equally efficient. Both are vented from the bottom and both are in the same price range. The Cuisinart has an
      on/off switch that is lacking on the Presto model. BTW, roasting coffee in these machines does not alter the taste of popcorn and vice-versa.
