How To Nail The Shot - Tanzania Edition
Вставка

- And now for something a little different 🙂
Sometimes I think one of the best ways to get better at wildlife photography is to study how other photographers approach their shots. You know, what settings they use, why they use them, what they are thinking in the field - that sort of thing.
So, I decided to try to do that with this video.
In this video, we’ll look at eight of my images from my recent trip to Tanzania and I’ll share my settings along with why I used them. Not only that, I’ll also share the challenges of each shot and how I handled them in the field. This is a little different; let me know if you want me to do more of these kinds of videos in addition to my regular fare. Enjoy!

Yes please do more of these! This was really informative and educational as to what to expect in the wild! Thank you Steve!
Very interesting Steve. More of the same? Yes please. Also, you mentioned you had to do some layering in Photoshop following the use of a couple of Topaz’s products to make the best of a very high ISO image - would really appreciate seeing your workflow on that. I’ve recovered some lovely BIF images from very noisy RAW files using Topaz DeNoise RAW and Sharpen AI but, they always seem to lose too much feather detail.
+1 to this comment. Time to update your video on noise reduction with these new tools, Steve!
I too would like to see Steve's workflow on high ISO images.
Great video. I appreciated the discussion points on aperture, shutter speed and ISO for different animals/situations. It was also very helpful to learn some strategies to optimize keeper photos, i.e. keep shooting, lower shutter speed and ISO. You made a great point with the cheetahs that not all animals have to be in focus to make a great pic, which is a learning moment for me as well.
The roller and the termite. No words. Simply a fantastic image.
The great hints with your sharing of your knowledge, skill’s & experience (especially taking longer bursts when bringing down the shutter to get more keepers) will help us all to mail more shots! Thanks for these types of postings. 👏
Love this type of video, hope you do more of them. Enjoyed listening to the explanations of each picture and the settings.
Absolutely do more videos like this. Sharing the stories of how and why and showing the results was wonderful.
Love the stories behind the image including the methodology and technical considerations. This is incredibly fun to watch and the practical learning is great. Keep them coming!
Another great video, Steve. Always look forward to these.
This presentation was superb, Steve. Explaining the shot's settings and letting us in on the story is the best way to help us learn.
Yet another great video, please do more of these videos....thank you for sharing your great photos!
Thank you for such insight into the photographic process you use. The images are wonderful and you are absolutely correct in informing everyone that this area is a target rich environment. The explanations are really what make this one of the better videos on wild life out there.
Love these sessions. Very informative. Please do more.
I hope you do more videos like this, it’s helpful to know how you approach the shots. We all go through a thought process but to hear how someone else is thinking is very helpful.
Great video Steve, keep these coming. Love to see the thought process in the field and the final photo.
Love this style of video. Definitely felt like I'm learning how to choose what we shoot and to do it.
Thoroughly enjoyed your latest video Steve. I learn a lot especially when I can see the equipment and settings used on each photo. Your explanations on why you “took the shot” was helpful too. I would like more just like it. Thanks.
love to see more of this format really interesting. thanks for sharing Steve.
Wow, Steve. I had to pause and thank you before even finishing watching this video. So inspiring and informative. Your passion and insight is amazing. Can't thank you enough for taking the time to share this with us!

Great new format, Steve, to me one of the best videos you ever did! You really shared your thoughts on the photographic challenges you faced there and how you were able to solve them, resulting in exceptional photos! Keep on the good work and make it a series, please! Thank you very much!!!
Hey Steve, once again you nailed it, PLEASE do more of these. It is so good to not only get the technical info on the hardware but to hear what you were thinking and how you do it is awesome. Thanks mate.
Loved it, Steve! I really enjoyed you walking us through your thought process for how to frame a composition to remove distractions and then work through the settings that will deliver the best image of a subject.
I have always loved episodes like this one with tricks, tips, and techniques from your experiences. They are extremely useful takeaways.
Yes, more of these Steve!
Well done thank you and yes please do more!
I wasn’t altogether sure that this format would work but I have to say it really does work. The thought process behind the shot is both informative and educational. Thanks for posting and trying something different.
Yes I enjoyed this form and will look forward to more like this. I learned a lot.
Great video. Hearing your experience adds to my experience without being there. It’s not a substitute, but a great way to learn.
Fantastic, Steve. Loved it! The thought process behind each shot is super valuable. Thanks so much for sharing. I stopped the video a couple times to check/adjustment some of my pre-programmed camera settings.
Love it Steve. Brilliant informative video. Yes keep them coming👍
Mr Perry, I find your videos extremely helpful as well as inspiring, thank you. Your images of the lion in black and white and of the leopardess are beautiful. One tip I would like to share is that cats, all sizes, not just the big ones, always yawn twice. Thank you again.
Awesome, just what I was hoping the video would be. Yes, do more of these!
Great video as always. Amazing pictures! Thanks for the tips! Love to see more videos like this.
Great video, this is the best way to learn. Being self-taught, this confirms some of the things I have been doing, and learned a couple new things. Keep them coming.
Great stuff Steve! Definitely do this again. And the leopard shot is incredibly cool. We visited Kruger National Park in South Africa and saw all of the Big Five but the leopard was, as you say, up in the tree limbs. Your shot belongs on the wall at a museum!
Excellent video Steve! Your info on camera settings and specific composition decisions was very helpful (and logical). I like all your videos, but I felt this one had a lot of really practical info for shooting animals, even though I'm not shooting on safari. Thanks!
This video format is an absolute home run! I loved the background describing the scene and your rational for the settings and other tips. Your photo education just continues to get better and better (and is already the best available in my opinion). Please do more of these. .....and I'm even more ready to go to Tanzania now.
Yes more please. Thank you for the informative video.
Thanks, Steve. Appreciate your willingness to record and share something new. More like this? Absolutely!!!

YES PLEASE!! It is definitely great to know the thoughts during the shoot as to why the particular image was transformed into a keeper along with the practical difficulties that one may get and rectify during the same!! Thanks a lot for the efforts!! :)
Great job Steve, on delivering some very pertinent and helpful information when shooting wildlife. I'll echo the sentiments in many other comments and say, yes, please do more videos like these. The shooting and settings techniques you described in this one were really helpful and made a lot of sense when one wants to capture a few keepers under difficult and changing conditions.
