You should check out Zach Ansley. He's a new and quite small channel at this point (771 subs). The major crux of his vocal analyses are pointing out what is, or is not, healthy and how to alter you technique for long term vocal health. Due to his firm rooting in bel canto technique, and strong focus on vocal health and longevity, he is very against harsh vocals. He is open to evidence that there is a safe way to do them though.
You are starting to become one of my favorite UA-cam vocal coaches. I have listened to your vowel advice and jaw tension advice and it has made my singing so much better. Thank you for these technique reviews! We get to see how the greats we love perform the way they do.
Not a singer, nor ever will be. Just an average music listener. But YOU, my good sir, are fascinating to listen to. You make something, thats never caught me before and make it interesting. Thank you. Keep up the good work!
agree 100% - Luv listening to Sam - he's by a pretty good margin the best that I've seen on YT at explaining technical aspects of voice & he's so knowledgeable about the music & the pronunciation in various languages it's really remarkable.... I enjoy watching his reactions too - very clear he's a Vocal teaching savant as much as Dimash is as a vocalist
This is one of my favorite videos by Dimash, precisely because he’s having fun with it. He’s playing with his audience, cheeky as heck. Vitas won’t let him sing this anymore-I wish Igor Krutoy would write something this playful for Dimash to sing-all their songs are so serious!
Krutoy is a poet, and his style is more serious in comparison to Vitas' but I agree. It would be a nice change of pace, though I still really love the songs Krutoy gives Dimash
I absolutely loved your Dimash videos. And your peaceful voice and kind personality add so much to your videos. Thank you for that. I am a huge Dimash fan, would you please do an analysis video on Dimash's Daybreak performance at Bastau Concert. I specifically ask for Bastau version because l think it is a masterpiece and would love to hear professional commentary on that. Thank you so much! 😊
I love watching these reactions so much usually I'll only watch a reaction if i really like the song/artist the person is reacting too but ive found myself watching every reaction sam posts. 💕💕💓💕💗💟💗💓💕💗💟💖💕💗💓💖💟
yoongi being soft Same! His reaction is the most comprehensive of the "vocal coaches" I've seen. I prefer Sam to everyone else tbh. I just don't watch the others anymore lol. Only Sam.
I don't know who Dimash is (to my shame and pity), but his Russian is pretty good! the feel is definitely different for me as a native speaker than from when he was singing SOS in French. he has really nice low notes! I should check him out. thank you for analysing it so thoroughly!
I have always been fascinated with the way Dimash handles his mic, and more especially after I've come to realise that everything he does onstage has a purpose. I'd never thought of him doing that mic waving purposely to ensure people know he isn't lipsyncing. I find it hugely entertaining that this amazingly talented young man has had to do that to prove it's him singing live because people just cannot believe what he does is possible.
I love Dimash, he's got so much personality and stage presence in his performances. He doesn't have to be doing anything and everyone is already dying lol. So charming.
I've been watching vocal coaches doing reactions for a while but I have to say that your videos are basically a lecture. I love it! You really know your craft. Congratulations on the work. I hope you react/lecture on Dimash more often. He's trully amazing. I suggest Agagio, Autum Strong, Hello and Confessa + Diva Dance. Cheers from Brazil!!! ✌️
You said you couldn’t think of a better song to show off his vocals abilities, I’d suggest you react to (confessa+the diva dance),I think that’s where he really showed off 😜❤️
Yes, Opera-2 is a pretty simple song for Dimash. He was just professionally and beautifully climbing a musical ladder. In his repertoire there are more complicated compositions in the vocal and artistic terms. I read that Opera-2 is the desire of the organizers. In China, this song is familiar to viewers.
Yes, when I thought I've seen everything, he surprised me with Confessa + Diva Dance. It was over a year ago, and he even progresses more. His SOS in Slavic Bazaar 2018 is sooooo much better than SOS in The Singer. And his performance in Sochi, singing Sinful Passion...oh...brought me to tears. He keeps surprising me. Too bad we would never see how much better he can become in singing Opera 2 since Vitas prohibits him from singing this song again.
After hearing Dimash singing here, I was reminded of The Diva Dance and was interested to see if Dimash had covered it. He had, but it seemed he changed it in the trill section (aka, took out the dance and substituted a simpler pattern) which I thought was a shame considering how many different singers have given that vocal dance a go. I thought if anyone was going to do the designed-to-be-impossible-for-humans opera it could have been him. But then he kinda skates right over it. Gotta be honest, I was disappointed.
You're my favorite vocal analyst, you're very honest which isn't easy to find nowadays. I was wondering if you would you ever do a video on your favorite vocalists? I feel like that would be an awesome video to watch.
Holy shit. This made the hair on the back of my neck and arms stand up. This dude is just incredible. Props to him for getting up there and showing off what he's capable of. First he showed that he can sing the song "properly", then he showed how he can take over a song in his own way and still nail it.
❤️❤️❤️❤️ The first time I saw this performance I was a little put off by how “cocky” Dimash was acting...thank heavens I stuck with him and all his other performances because this is all part of his show...he changes characters based on his song choice...this song is fun and flirty and so was Dimash. I’ve been following him for almost a year now and have learned how truly humble he is. He does have confidence in his singing, rightfully so, but his dad surprised him by coming from Kazakhstan to see Dimash during this episode. Dimash did not know his dad was in the audience until after the song was over and Dimash was saying thank you...he glanced over to the opposite side of the audience and got a glimpse of his dad....this can be seen at the end of this video. Dimash gave his dad a bear thug and lifted him off his feet. The camera follows them heading back to the contestants lounge and Dimash asked his dad “Did I sing good.” Thank you for your reaction! I appreciate your insights and ability to explain things to us non singing viewers.
Приятный парень, он не видит в другом певце конкурента, а радуется возможности услышать что-то новое, понять механику, получает искреннее удовольствие) Димаш на сингере в 17-м был каким-то особо обаятельным и трогательным
You're admiration of this young mans finely tuned instrument is refreshing. You clearly know your craft as well and the non jaded stanning is appreciated. He's something to behold and yes for his lane is a complete rock star.
Не имея никакого музыкального образования и вообще очень далека от всех этих музыкальных терминов, единственное, полагаясь на свой слух и восприятие, могу сказать, что Димаш - он самое лучшее!!!
His performance of Unforgettable Day has not yet failed to give me goosebumps. Particularly the Gakku version, I couldnt believe what came out of that man
Can i just say that I have watched a lot of “voice” teachers/coaches and I’ve never seen anyone explain anything like Sam does, he’s so knowledgeable and the way that he explains a a technique or anything for that matter is so on point! He seems like the sweetest guy ever too!
Thank you, Sam, for an awesome reaction and analysis! Please, more Dimash! Make a reaction to Confessa + Diva Dance, Late Autumn, Hello, All by myself. Greetings from Croatia
Wow I've just discovered this singer and your channel. You are absolutely wonderful. And Dimash... well obviously a national treasure, my goodness. It's beautiful to see everyone reacting to a magnificent voice. Just goes to show humans naturally appreciate beauty. 💖
Hi Sam, perfect reaction. You're realy perfect voice teacher, i heard your voice & you made deep impression on me + so kind natural smile Don't stop, we'll waite the next reactions to Dimash! And sure, i click 👍
Honestly I’ve fallen so deeply in love with dimash since watching your reaction to “sos” that I keep watching your videos of him singing when I want to smile and marvel at what a gift he is. I hope you post more videos of him...can he come to the states already?!!
Thank you for the great reaction to Opera 2. I can't wait for your reaction to the other Dimash songs from this competition. I'm sure that Dimash will surprise you more than once. Greetings from Poland :)
Usually when i watch a vocal coach reaction i keep myself watching the perform (even if i've already seen it like 100 times) BUT that changed with you bc my whole attention keeps in your reactions and explanations. Thanks 🙆

Finally, there's a man who not only reacts, but also explains! Could you react to all episodes of Dimash on Singer 2017. And also other performances. Even vocal coaches just naming the note he gained, but your analysis are very informative and amazing.
Thank you very much.Your analyses are very interesting and i am looking foward to hear more Dimash analyses. His choice of song was really very right. This was the second performance at the concert, he had to show his vocal abilities and he knew well that many Chinese people love and know this song. Please react to his next song. Show must go onDKIFC/Estonia
Wow.. as a soprano those are really high notes and I didn’t think that was humanly possible for a man! I just found your videos and I’m really enjoying your feedback and hearing singers from around the world. Also love your expressions as you watch these performances - I can tell you really love what you do!
Thank you so much for reacting and analyzing this performance as well as S.O.S! I’ve been a fan of Dimash since last year when I saw his Diva Dance performance (please do react to this one too if you have the time😭) and a lot of vocal coaches are so stunned by his voice there’s not much analysis in the video which is understandable he’s amazing! However I’ve always been worried whether certain notes he does will hurt him in the future but thanks to you now I understand his technique better! You balance well between reactions and analyzing keep up the great work just earned another subscriber :)!
The man in the shadows they keep going to with the camera is Dimash's father who has come to surprise and support him. Dimash is confident when singing but it is hard to be in a country where you cannot understand a thing that anyone is saying. It just shows how close his family is to each other. When you have time, could you analyze The Show Must Go On. I cannot say why, but it is one of my favorites.
@@softan hello, I agree with you, for me it also sounds like a countertenor, at the same time his teacher calls him a lyric tenor. yes, it can develop a low register. the beginning of these skills, you can hear in the song 'Sinful passion' Have a nice day
The last part of his performance always makes me laugh simply because I'm so amazed. His voice at that point sounds like a flute.
More violin than flute in this case! But i totally get what you mean, its amazing no matter how many times i watch it 😆
Whistle tones. Honestly E6 is very achievable to whistle tone for most healthy tenors, just practice more haha
Strongly agree... It makes me laugh and it makes me go down tears; he is incredible !!!
