Tapout Tuning 2023 CT5-V Blackwing Cam and E85 Upgrade Package!

- This CT5-V Blackwing had all the most common mods including larger throttle body, ported stock supercharger, and Kooks header system. However, this time around we installed our camshaft package, an auxiliary fuel pump, and a DSX flex fuel kit.
Thanks to these added modifications, the final calibration is a fully automatic flex fuel tune that will work fine on any fuel from 93-octane E0 to E85. It starts adding WOT ignition timing when ethanol content reaches E20, and hits full power by E60. So E60 to E85 will make the same power. Here are the results:
- 665 whp with ported supercharger and throttle body, but no tune
- 742 whp with 2.50” pulley on 93-octane pump gas (12 psi boost)
- 758 whp with 2.30” pulley on 93-octane pump gas (14 psi boost)
- 771 whp with 2.18” pulley on 93-octane pump gas (15 psi boost)
- 809 whp with 2.18” pulley on E62 fuel (15 psi boost)
All the above numbers are using SAE correction, so you can add ~ 2% if you want to see STD numbers.

@@SnoopyRu1980 neither do I. You see more blackwings around here than G80 M3’s that’s for sure. I do like that v8 sound and the manual in those BW’s, but let’s face it only one car is made in Detroit and drops granny panties

Might be a dumb question but can you cam an auto also or just manual. Mine is the 10spd auto
You can install a cam on the automatic or the manual. This car has the A10 automatic.
Is the stock Eaton tapped out at 15psi? Do they do lowers on these cars? Asking because I’m coming from hellcat territory and just picked up my Blackwing.
Yes, 15 psi is the max, at least based on the current combination. The pulley snout has been machined in this application to accept that small of a pulley as well.
We used an overdrive crank pulley on this car as well.
What would be needed to get to 900+ whp would a lowside fuel system and Maggie 2650 get there?
A 2650 blower would definitely help you get closer. Methanol injection would also add a good deal of fuel system capacity. This car is running the DSX Auxiliary Fuel Pump Kit for the low pressure side of the fuel system.
Do the motors have to be pulled for the cam package?
They can be done with or without pulling the motor. However, if you don't pull the motor, you have to completely disassemble the front end in order to have enough clearance.
Have yall tuned a regular CT5v at all?
Yes, we've tuned several of these and they respond very well to tuning!

With the valves closed you almost can't tell you have them.

Depends on whether you have the car set to start in my mode with the engine sound cranked or you have it set to start in touring. Touring cold start isn’t that loud. Not much different than stock…

Is the 2.18” pulley flexfuel compatible
Yes, it is compatible with flex fuel. That is the pulley size the car is running where it makes 809 whp on E62 fuel.
Yes it can be used on this flex setup on either 93 or e85. Boost will remain the same but timing and fueling will adjust automatically with the flex fuel tune depending on what fuel you put in.
lol seems like a lot of work for that much power. Cams? Ported blower? Geez! BMW s58 3.0 liter inline six can make that power without all those mods. Already did 8.91 at 149 with a STOCK engine, STOCK turbos, and full weight (4,100 lbs with driver). Extra fueling, tune, nitto 555’s that’s it. G80 M3 FTW.
We get it you drive an m3 and the Blackwings have you feeling some type of way. If you think an m3 is better I’ll be the last to argue that with you - everyone leans towards a certain platform.

But your M3 sounds like a Kazoo compared to a cammed V8. It’s not always about speed.
@@CarGuysRule82 my m3 you’re right twin turbocharged cars typically don’t sound great…but that knuckledragging v8 sounds weak compared to my 8,600 rpm naturally aspirated V10 (M6)… it’s not always about speed (although my tuned m6 will go well over 200 mph) 🤣
Care to post that source? I have not seen a stock turbo one run in the 8's or mph that high
