I knew it was clickbait coming in... on second thought though, do I actually like fun?!?! TBH, the reason I was considering not backing was the ads I kept running into on UA-cam. It's been kind of like when I lived in a remote BC town where I only got CBC North on TV and every commercial break had an ad for an upcoming figure skating showcase program... I couldn't wait for the show to air so the ads would end! In all seriousness (and all due respect to Organge Nebula) though, there's so much buzz about this game, and the sci fi planet exploration theme, with Rahdo raving about it on his recent roundup, now you, I may have to check out this 'BoardgameNo' review I hear about... though the name of the guy behind that channel sounds suspiciously like your troll... anyway, thanks for the great video!
Thanks again, Chris, for continuing this series. While I am backing this game, your reasons not to back are sound and should be considered by every backer to at least let them give a moment's pause before clicking the back button. My only rebuttal is on the replayability aspect. Do many that play modern board games realistically need/want high replayability? Don't get me wrong, variability is great to prolong a game's life, but to me, it's no different with any game we play. First plays are all about learning the rules and discovery. After that, it becomes finding strategies to improve. Many players stick with a strategy that they feel works and only change if forced to within the game. From the planets I've seen, Unsettled has some variability in the tile setup, which changes the puzzle. Not much different than different goal scoring cards in my mind, which other games get applauded for. And thanks for saying I'm responsible for not also owning Vindication too, I'll have to bring this video up when my board game spending comes under question. See, the internet says I'm responsible!
Haha you're very responsible! I think the difference for me is that the variable aspect that usually changes things up, often you don't have to spend an extra 15 bucks if you want access to it. On the other hand 15 bucks seems like a really reasonable price point to keep extending your game, I just wish it didn't feel like it was a requirement, which it slightly tips over into that camp for me.
@@RoomandBoardReviews I do agree, the model of planets as access to variable content is something that turns backing this game to buying into a system, requiring repeat purchases, rather than a stand alone game (and as you mentioned, it does lend itself to comparisons to LCGs and CCGs). However, I think it's OK to treat some games as purely experiences (legacy games are a substantial sector of the hobby), and $15 for a minimum of 3 plays (assuming 3 unique tasks per planet, and all wins) is a heck of a deal compared to a few beers at a brewery, or a movie ticket, both also experiences. Still, despite all me whinging, you were absolutely right to put this as one of your points. Not everyone is thrilled with a game that may have a predetermined expiration and they should keep that in mind if they choose to back.
Great perspective. I was drawn in by the excited reviews and the visuals without considering the actual game as fun or not. Thanks for helping level set!
I’m mad because I skipped through the time stamps; and because context and nuance doesn’t matter!! …and because I didn’t watch this early enough to be the first to do that. Well, congratulations. That’s another you’ve successfully talked me out of. That’s 3 now I was planning on backing you’ve talked me out of, 1 I wasn’t planning on backing but you oddly talked me in to (with a why you shouldn’t back vid), and 1 that I watched the video on anyway despite knowing there was nothing you could have done to prevent me from emptying my bank account to get everything for.
@@RoomandBoardReviews we’ll see. The one you talked me IN to was Deep Rock Galactic. You said the word “FUN” the magic number of times to trigger my “I neeed dis” slobber mode. The one you couldn’t have talked me out of even if your reasons included it killed my cat, will give me cancer, and/or it publicly hates anyone who still enjoys Duran Duran was Marvel Zombies. This didn’t even have to come with a game for me to be all-in on it. I want to paint those minis as much as I’ve ever wanted to paint anything. And I have. I’ve wanted to paint things. Just to be clear. The game that’s attached to Marvel Zombies just makes me ever more excited.
I'm guessing some of these are really grasping for something to put in this video? I mean I could come with a few reasons without even knowing what this game is, and yes, I have no idea what this game is. I will in a second when I look it up. Basically Alex mentioning in his vid he was going to start some UA-cam drama, I thought for the lolz I'd come by and check this vid out. Room and Board isn't my go to channel, and I think it may be one I might have come across at some point. It's just not recommended to me, so I basically don't watch it. I mean I already have my favorites for gameplay, rules, and news in the boardgame genre. No offense meant. Now to watch this video of yours.
Oh, so that's why they have so many damn boxes. Each one is a different planet. I have no idea of a better way to store all of the content, but that doesn't change the fact I hate having to fill up a huge part of space for ONE game, as well as having hundreds of boxes to the remember what goes where (with games that don't offer adequate storage). I have Deep Madness that the contents of those is all over the place within the 3 (4?) boxes. So your points. 5) I relearn my games whenever I replay them. It's easier for me to relearn a game if I have already played it before. I own quite a number, and don't get the opportunity to enjoy all of them frequently. As for learning a new game, it comes with the hobby. The reason you give is bad. Why buy anything new if you aren't willing to learn how to use it (unless you just want to own/display it)? 4) Valid heading point. 3) I had to pay attention to where you were going with this, as your heading confused me. This is a valid point. Some games you play once, and you are pretty much done with them as the main aspect of the game has been fulfilled since you are destroying the game so it's no longer replayable, or you modify components in such a way you lose out on the progressive nature of it. 2) Valid point. I get it, but I am more invested in getting great games that offer something different. I like a diversity of things in my entertainment pool as I'm not always going to be wanting to play the same game all the time. It's sometimes hard to judge if a game I like the sound of would be something I would keep playing. I need to first be able to play it before making that judgement. I had to choose between Monster Hunter: World and Primal: The Awakening. The both offer the same concept, but different approach. I may keep one, both, or neither. I wont know until I play them. These games also rely on content to stay alive, so getting the base game, while it would help with the deciding factor of keep or sell, it is less of a hassle to get everything in one go. 1) A point that applies to pretty much everything in the world. To be used here, you really couldn't think of anything, could you? You do mention hype, but that is a different point, and probably a far better point to have mentioned as a heading.
If you wanted people to hate this video - then I think you were successful by getting someone named Alex Radcliffe to hate it! BTW, is that friend of yours who you are going to play Vindication with - happen to be named Alex Radcliffe?
haha, it's not him, a friend is bringing it to a board game weekend. That and Dune Imperium are my two targets that I'm very excited for. Also going to try and get Anachrony to the table as well for the first time.
@@RoomandBoardReviews Anachrony is awesome! Iconography is great and game play feels really smooth once you get through the rules overhead. A couple rounds and it clicks nicely 😊 Voidfall was a must have for me though after playing Anachrony-so might be a tad bias.
We are all here early anxiously awaiting the wrath of Alex. Your ending is classic. Great video. I am not backing it for many of the reasons you stated.
1) Learning a new game every time - I mean sure, but we’re not talking Too Many Bones here, we’re talking 3-5 minutes of new rules per planet, and if that’s too much for you….maybe…just maybe, you shouldn’t be playing that many new games in general. 2) Not a coop person - I will echo the words of someone I admire and respect greatly in this space…..”Du-doy!” 3) Replayability - Chris - “Each planet gives you replayability, and that might run out when you’re done with planets.” Also Chris “Each planet adds new rules, and that’s too overwhelming.” You can’t have your cake and eat it too. 4) Feel the need for everything - Agreed…but let’s be honest, those people aren’t listening to you anyway. 5) Someone on UA-cam Told You That You Should - Well screw you Chris. This just got personal. Ok, 10 points for Gryffindor for that ending though.
10 Points for Gryffindor!!? This is even worse than I imagined, I'm a Slytherin all day! That's actually great about the learning a new game, makes me feel a bit relieved. I was quite worried by some of the descriptors, maybe it was Tom Vasel's description of this that it felt like it would be a very long process to absorb the changes in each new planet, but 3-5 minutes feels like nothing. Or maybe it's just me, maybe I just... feel nothing...
@@RoomandBoardReviews If we're being serious, and not just snippy for fun. I think 3-5 minutes is accurate, maybe 10 at the most....there are definitely rules, but it's literally 1-2 minutes of reading, and then 2-5 of comprehension. What is annoying, is trying to both learn a new game and then applying two sets of rules together at once....so that first dive is tricky because of that....but gets better after.
@@BoardGameCo Nice, yeah that makes sense, but I feel like even I can't knock it for the initial learning of rules, that's any game you're going to have to go through those learning pains, I just expected it to be a bit more severe moving forward than it apparently is, probably due to a combo of things but in part by their "mental load" descriptor.
Honestly your number one reason resonates quite well. FOMO always hits hard on these things and you're absolute right with what they're doing with that video. You and Balex Badmift are absolutely two terrific resources for completely different reasons and that is a great thing. Also.. that ending was fantastic!
But it looks so cool! Once again your points are all valid and I probably shouldn't get it but there is just something about the game and the theme that's really spoken to me. My current thought is that i'll pass over quite a few other current KS that I was debating in order to get this one. Plus after this whole Wombat debacle, I don't know if I can trust your opinions.
Well, I thought you had sufficiently de-hyped me, but then I went and pledged all-in, so 🤷 Excellent points made in your video though; I was seriously considering just pledging for the base framework for a few days.
On a more serious tone, I got in the hobby a few years ago, and discovered Kickstarter just 2 years ago. As a world of wonders and greatness it can be, I see how it can easily become irresistibly attractive, to the point where you feel the need to back something every (or several times a) month, and it can become some kind of ruinous addiction. I already lost count of campaigns that unrationally hyped me so hard, and because of which the maximum amount of money I was willing to spend for a game went from about 70-100$ (damn I considered spending 100$ for a game was completely insane just a few months ago!) to 200, 250, 300$... And this only because of the marketing around campaigns, and the FOMO they are leading us to. Anyways, all this to say that your videos are a great way to take a step back and realize the madness we got into. Already saved me several hundred bucks, and I think viewing these videos should be mandatory before backing any big project! Sorry that was long and useless, but I can’t afford a shrink, I just backed Unsetlled 😅😂
I really liked the concept of Unsettled and the O-Neb culture, so I late pledged this. I struggled with the rules and the game just didn’t click. I ended up selling it and got most of my money back. The art was beautiful, and I liked the writing style. I’m just not sure what it was about it that didn’t work.
"high steaks" omg, that was awful haha To me the division line on this game must be not just whether you like coops, but whether you like coops the require a high level of group think in order to win. For some people, that should be enough to make them run because of the alpha gamer issues it presents. For others, nothing is more disengaging then group decision making which includes my wife who always prefers focusing on her own turns and not others. I'm highly excited for this game based on the descriptions of the game play (even if I probably won't be playing it with my wife), because I do love Pandemic style games and taking on the puzzles together. I'm one of those people who considers Pandemic Legacy the best coop out there and if this gives me that level of discovery without having to tear up cards - that's fantastic.
Hahaha, I did die a little inside while making it XD You are much more succinct and eloquent that I am. That I think sums it up perfectly what I wanted to say in that point. I think you're exactly right on the money with what to expect and setting your expectations for that experience.
How about I like the game's mechanics. & The way the company creates games. So extra modules are what I want as well as the planets. You are just typical UA-cam bull to make inflammatory statements for clicks. I'm out.
Currently if I hadn't been super fortunate enough to win Arydia, I think I would have pulled the trigger on the late pledge. 6 Siege is one that I'll definitely look for at retail, I think it looks so fun, but I didn't feel like their stretch goals were significant enough to warrant the shipping costs.
Voidfall is another one I would LOVE to play, but I don't ever see myself owning, just because I think it requires a specific group and is one of those games you want to play frequently, or else you'll have to go through the relearning process.
I’m all over space themes, cooperatives, narratives, and medium weight games so this checks all the boxes. I missed it the first time around. The quarterback problem seems pretty legit but it depends on people and I don’t usually have issues with it. The way they’ve set themselves up for infinite expansions is definitely a double edge sword. I don’t like it, because I like it. I think because each is so independent though, it doesn’t bother me so much. You never need more than one, the ones you have exhausted can be sold off (except for the first two that they force everyone to buy, another little annoyance with their pricing). So anyway I’m still in on this one. Lots of great points though!
That's a fair point, you could potentially trade sets down the line, but I think everyone will likely end up buying most planets which is too bad that it limits that potential.
I know there is probably a specific Josh, you are referring to as your nemesis, but we are a hivemind, and every time you call one of us out, we all feel it, it's very... unsettling

#6: For reasonable play time duration, 4-5 players games that include a lot of the war mechanisms found in longer games please try this free mod: This is a mod I've done just to prove myself I could bring great value to the table using my software engineering skills. The playing time for 4 players is about 1h15. It's for 3 to 5 players (best 4). It is tailored after what I like in board games: 1. Straightforward rules allowing you to play as you learn 2. Not too many pieces and bits 3. Quick to set up & teardown (tallying the scores is also near-instant) 4. No individual boards - one spot to watch allows catching "mistakes" 5. Low latency, your turns will come fast enough 6. Original dice system (an exciting cards replacement option is also provided) 7. Variable Player Powers from the start and as the game goes forth 8. Many paths to victory eg. running for the common quest, pillaging, obstructing, Ragnarök, and more 9. Great Re-playability and it offers enough variability through awesome options A. For players aiming at attaining the best score possible - don't be the last in line! B. It would be impossible to create a bot player that would play this game in an optimal way Life involves Conflicts; Conflicts bring Battles; Battles give Glory. PS: I believe it outperforms many board games out there - these days I see a lot of poor designs for example this nonsense: one game is about fetching common items that spawn from time to time all over town in order to defeat monsters and also use them as life points. This has been a tough one for me. The themes and look of Unsettled seems perfect to me--the exploring side of Mass Effect. But I've watched a half dozen playthroughs and every one bored me incredibly. The mechanics aren't intuitive to me and stopping to read paragraphs of text to sell the game doesn't work for me. And I'm big on good writing, but I don't feel the story unfolding when I watch people play. It's much more like stopping to read flavor text in lieu of atmosphere... Man, I really want to love this game, but I just don't.
Yeah I get that stopping to read flavour text feel immensely as well. Really fair point on that disconnect. It's a game where I want the theme to be a lot stronger than it is.
If you wanted people to hate this video - then I think you were successful by getting someone named Alex Radcliffe to hate it! BTW, is that friend of yours who you are going to play Vindication with - happen to be named Alex Radcliffe?
Unsettled is really compelling...it is an intriguing puzzle and interesting system with a clean setup and the base mechanics are fairly simple. At the same time, it's a bit luck swingy and you hit it on the head...the rules of the planet rewrites everything each time so it's a mental adjustment to how you think you know how the game is played. It is coop done right, but the desperate need to be clever and funny does get in the way a little bit for me. The clincher for me though is that this game punishes you for exploring. You have to be absolutely FOCUSED on the goal and you cannot do what I really love in games...exploring...because you will die if you do!
I think this is a wonderful breakdown and summation. See this is what I was talking about in terms of illuminating comments :) Now you're on the hook to film the next one!
@@RoomandBoardReviews High praise :). I'd be happy to join you in filming but I'm not nearly as clever as you are :). I hear I'm like a walking "dad joke", you'd get so many thumbs down!
That all makes sense, Chris, but this is just too bright and shiny to not be acquired by me! And others that also desire the aforementioned bright shiny luxury gaming goods! In all seriousness, the mechanics, cooperation, accessibility and the peaceful, scientific-y nature of the game really resonate with me. I’m guessing it will provide me much joy for many moons. A seemingly great game to play with a good friend, your significant other or even just by yourself, if forever alone. If in the end it’s not a game for me, I reckon it’s a safe back in terms of holding its value, for being so much sought after. This time was not the time, Chris! But I always very much enjoy your videos! Keep bringin’ ‘em!
I've just discovered Unsettled via the current Kickstarter and was curious what it's all about. I've watched the Kickstarter video and looked through the campaign page and I have no idea how this plays. I see lots of promo images and promises of plastic and "new things" without any real substance to it (at least from the point of view of someone new to the game), which is the sort of Kickstarter I despise. Maybe there's a fun game in there, but the marketing approach on this really turns me off.
Thanks Chris for this! Still on the fence but your argument on new expansions eventually coming (...forever) made me wanna pass. It's already 70$ USD for shipping to Canada. That's A LOT.
While trying to watch your video, I had to skip through the hype-machine ad for Unsettled not once but twice! So in a way, Orange Nebula is paying for you to tell people not to buy their game…
What an excellent video, and thanks to Alex who sent me your way. Subscribed in a heartbeat. To me, the one most important question (other than the obvious "will my wife allow me?") is "Will I play that game?" I am really trying to be a board gamer and not a board games collector, a very hard thing to do these days. Every once in a while a game shows up where the "I want to play it so much" becomes stronger than "Will I play it?". Last time it was Gloomhaven, which I am grateful for buying, played it for so many hours. I think Unsettled is going to be another. Getting only the base pack with 2 planets, slowly, carefully, lets see how it goes. BTW, Sleeping Gods is also on the "I want it so much" list. would love to hear your reasoning for me not buying it .
This got me interested so I went to the Kickstarter page to see more info and watched the video. And the video had such a small amount information about the game I immediately just closed the site. I think this video is right to criticize it. I cannot understand why they would make that kind of introduction video. It seems its only purpose is to make people confused about the game. It seems like a really bad way to market the game. Anyway - that was the biggest reason I was out.
The biggest reason for me was the rules inconsistancies and misprints in the game. This was holding me back for a long time, but decided to back it this time around because I really do love the system that much.
I agree with all your points. It's a beautiful game but I'm on the fence for all the reasons you stated (potential repitition most of all - discovery in adventure in is one of my favourite aspects). While still somewhat new to board gaming, I'm starting to realize that I may not be a board game enthusiast and that I may just be a gamer (non-euro save for Hive). 1 VS Many games are still my favourite as I play with my wife and daughters where I'm the 1 *** Clash for Eternia is right up our alley!) My current in-hand favourites are Marvel United and Cthulhu: Death May Die (although I wish C:DMD had a bit more of a campaign so that we're not just playing the final chapter - of which I know many prefer it as is though). Excellent video Chris :)
I still need to try Death May Die. I generally like anything Eric Lang touches, but I also have The Others so I feel like that one can scratch my tentacle needs for now, haha
Very good points! I don't know if I agree, but hey, you sound like someone who is fun to play boardgames with, and that's more than I can say about a lot of board game UA-camrs - subscribed!
Another interesting point behind the You Tube hype is how many of these rave reviews were done during a paid-for preview or run through? If they pay me to rave about it I will too! :) Now...I think their integrity is largely intact, but it's a factor...
Yeah, a fair point. But I know Alex doesn't do paid previews, and I don't think Jesse does, although maybe for CMON their Zombicide stuff was paid. Or it could have been just exclusive. And they're most of the video. The Dice Tower stuff is from their Four Square review as well, I'm not sure about the other ones.
Hey this is my first comment on one of your videos! Heard of you thanks to your nemesis Sir Radcliffe, and just wanted to say I love your channel, you have a really good vibe, interesting points of view, and the best bad humor ever 😉 Anyways as for this game, I cracked after a few days of endless inside battle, but I have the consolation to see that I didn’t fall completely into the traps you warn us about (although watching your videos before backing would have got me a couple more days of thinking): First I resisted the need to go all-in. Just base game and 2 more planets. I’m so proud. Then, I first got hyped by the gameplay videos before my hype was confirmed by enthusiast youtubers. So I can say I beat the system right? Even if I end up spending way too much money on a board game that won’t have a big replayability...
I'm mad! I skipped through the timestamps! ;) Well, I'm probably going to back it but I'm waiting until the last day to make a decision. If I forget and miss it then there will be another chance when they open the late pledges. If I miss that then there will probably be another chance with the next Kickstarter. It goes on and on... I think there were at least 50 new board game campaigns that launched today. Hold up something shinny and I'll get distracted. :)
Haha, that's always a good test I find. The ones you can't stop thinking about are the ones worth checking your shipping notifications every day to see if they've arrived.
@@BoardGameCo Ha ha, to be fair, he does a good job hyping the game up too, and make some fair points. Plus you've already got the game and know its a good one for you, so be nice to your fellow Canadian, eh
Thanks for covering. I'm not interested by the super big campaigns normally. I went for Earth this month. Probably not going to hit 1M but it pulled me in.
I'm really excited to take a look at Earth for my next Monday's video. I have a feeling I'm going to have a hard time resisting that one, it looks really nice and at a solid price point too.
It's worth mentioning that orange nebula has stated they don't currently have plans for another kickstarter for Unsettled. They stated that they will continue to release new planets for sale through their website but that another kickstarter is not in the works. Later this year they will be moving their focus to "Spirit Fire", which will be their newest title.
Oh that's really good to know. At least it'll still be all on their website. It doesn't look like the prices will be that much different there at least, but thanks for bringing that up!
I've already got ISS Vanguard coming in and they both feel similar in the space exploration Co-op aspect. My decision to not back this one was also helped by the fact that I watched a few playthroughs and the mechanics never clicked for me. Oh well. I mean, there's always the next Kickstarter if I end up deciding I want to give it a try later.😆
I had the same thoughts. But (on BGG), there's a lot of discussions. Both games are totally different. Granted, they share the Sci-Fi Exploration theme, but that's it.
Haha, I may have said as much as I can on Kingdoms forlorn in yesterday's crowdfunding countdown video. It might cross that 1 million threshold, they're definitely making a push for it, but I don't think it'll get there in time for a video, so I tried to cover it in a bit more detail yesterday because of that :)
Well, you video is 24h too late for me as I pledged all-in yesterday! I'll still watch it tough because those videos are really great! Thanks for making them.

I think Euphoria is filled with nudity...so I am disappointed you didn't at least take off your hat for that bit.
I should have gotten the robe out!!
@@RoomandBoardReviews Dune: Imperium is a great game!

@@RoomandBoardReviews Anachrony is awesome! Iconography is great and game play feels really smooth once you get through the rules overhead. A couple rounds and it clicks nicely 😊 Voidfall was a must have for me though after playing Anachrony-so might be a tad bias.
How dare you. Now time to start watching....
We are all here early anxiously awaiting the wrath of Alex. Your ending is classic. Great video. I am not backing it for many of the reasons you stated.
Watching now....I need 30 minutes. Chris. You're dead to me.
...And some of the reasons which he didn't state! 😉
1) Learning a new game every time - I mean sure, but we’re not talking Too Many Bones here, we’re talking 3-5 minutes of new rules per planet, and if that’s too much for you….maybe…just maybe, you shouldn’t be playing that many new games in general.
2) Not a coop person - I will echo the words of someone I admire and respect greatly in this space…..”Du-doy!”
3) Replayability - Chris - “Each planet gives you replayability, and that might run out when you’re done with planets.” Also Chris “Each planet adds new rules, and that’s too overwhelming.” You can’t have your cake and eat it too.
Did you heart your own reply? Oh man Chris....I mean I knew you were a fan....but still.
@@BoardGameCo haha I do that on Facebook all the time and just discovered I could do so here.
Good job, love this video as always. Waiting to see BoardgameCo comment this one… 😂

Honestly your number one reason resonates quite well. FOMO always hits hard on these things and you're absolute right with what they're doing with that video. You and Balex Badmift are absolutely two terrific resources for completely different reasons and that is a great thing. Also.. that ending was fantastic!
So uh, when should we expect the 5 Reasons video for the Sanderson campaign? 😉
BoardGameCo is coming for you!
Watching now....I need 30 minutes. Chris. You're dead to me.
Haha hey that's fair. Wombatgate definitely indicates the existence of a darkest timeline and that we're all living in it.
Well, I thought you had sufficiently de-hyped me, but then I went and pledged all-in, so 🤷
Excellent points made in your video though; I was seriously considering just pledging for the base framework for a few days.
Not useless at all! Your comment resonates with me 100%
Is this the BoardGameCo profanity waiting room?
Hahaha it certainly seems that way 🤣
Watching now....I need 30 minutes. Chris. You're dead to me.
"high steaks" omg, that was awful haha
To me the division line on this game must be not just whether you like coops, but whether you like coops the require a high level of group think in order to win.
Hahaha, I did die a little inside while making it XD
You are much more succinct and eloquent that I am. That I think sums it up perfectly what I wanted to say in that point. I think you're exactly right on the money with what to expect and setting your expectations for that experience.
18:34 I am very busy and important. Thank you for noticing.
Word on the street is Orange Nebula is going to have a minivan (to house all the boxes) as an add-on for the 7th Kickstarter campaign of Unsettled.
How about I like the game's mechanics. & The way the company creates games. So extra modules are what I want as well as the planets. You are just typical UA-cam bull to make inflammatory statements for clicks. I'm out.
Cool sounds good, Orange Nebula didn't quite feel the same way but you do you!
I enjoy your critiques and humor. Many of your videos have convinced me to jump into the hype. 😅
Thanks :) and I'm glad, I love hearing that. I hope you really enjoy them all!
"You hate fun" 🤣
Hey Chris,
Do you/Have you ever backed one of these games which you have done a "5 Reasons Not To Back" episode on?
Just wondering!
Board game no, have a bad one ;)
It's an amazing game. Played every planet now and I loathe for more! So inspiring and the storywriting ist just awesome! I need it all! ;)
Nice, that's awesome, I'm glad you're loving it :)

#6: For reasonable play time duration, 4-5 players games that include a lot of the war mechanisms found in longer games please try this free mod:
This is a mod I've done just to prove myself I could bring great value to the table using my software engineering skills. The playing time for 4 players is about 1h15. It's for 3 to 5 players (best 4).
It is tailored after what I like in board games:
1. Straightforward rules allowing you to play as you learn
2. Not too many pieces and bits
3. Quick to set up & teardown (tallying the scores is also near-instant)
4. No individual boards - one spot to watch allows catching "mistakes"
5. Low latency, your turns will come fast enough
6. Original dice system (an exciting cards replacement option is also provided)
7. Variable Player Powers from the start and as the game goes forth
8. Many paths to victory eg. running for the common quest, pillaging, obstructing, Ragnarök, and more
9. Great Re-playability and it offers enough variability through awesome options
A. For players aiming at attaining the best score possible - don't be the last in line!
B. It would be impossible to create a bot player that would play this game in an optimal way
Life involves Conflicts; Conflicts bring Battles; Battles give Glory.

This is my feeling as well. I love the settings and I also like puzzles, but the play-throughs don't really grab me.
You talked me out of it. 👍
Once again, you got me thinking twice...I thank you and hate you in equal measure. ;)
Wait...there are funny folks who follow you? Gosh, why would they do that? :)

@@RoomandBoardReviews Oof. That makes these thoughts I've been having even more impure. Awkward!
The biggest reason for me was the rules inconsistancies and misprints in the game. This was holding me back for a long time, but decided to back it this time around because I really do love the system that much.
Before confirming a pledge, I always check to see if you have a video on the project as a test. Great video once again 😊

Awesome! Thanks for another great video.
You are very honest in your reviews and knowledgeable. Keep up the good work.
I love your videos. You are hilarious!! And very helpful.
Very good points! I don't know if I agree, but hey, you sound like someone who is fun to play boardgames with, and that's more than I can say about a lot of board game UA-camrs - subscribed!
Haha thanks :)
Another interesting point behind the You Tube hype is how many of these rave reviews were done during a paid-for preview or run through? If they pay me to rave about it I will too! :)
Now...I think their integrity is largely intact, but it's a factor...
Heard of you thanks to your nemesis Sir Radcliffe, and just wanted to say I love your channel, you have a really good vibe, interesting points of view, and the best bad humor ever 😉
Anyways as for this game, I cracked after a few days of endless inside battle, but I have the consolation to see that I didn’t fall completely into the traps you warn us about (although watching your videos before backing would have got me a couple more days of thinking): First I resisted the need to go all-in. Just base game and 2 more planets. I’m so proud. Then, I first got hyped by the gameplay videos before my hype was confirmed by enthusiast youtubers. So I can say I beat the system right? Even if I end up spending way too much money on a board game that won’t have a big replayability...
Haha it sounds like you beat the system! I hope you end up loving it :)

I'm American, therefore I'm getting it explicitly because you told me not to. That's just what we do down here.
I mean, you make a very valid point.
Cute little banter with that other channel too :)
So, basically, what you're saying here, is you're going to back this. Nice.
Hahha, I mean I guess there's still time!
I found the narrative was way too flippant and sarcastic all of the time. There's a time and place, and it definitely goes a smidge beyond that.
