My sister was a flight attendant for years. She told me some horror stories. The airlines gives them crappy rooms. I would carry Lysol spray. Spray everything.
I'm a former 29 year Las Vegas resident and more so a hospitality industry professional. I was a desk clerk/night auditor who has seen the good, bad and the disgusting. For starters, your beds have no bedspreads on them. Every room in the hotel I worked had a bedspread on each bed. You are correct that those beds do not look like they were made up with any degree of effort. I've been to Arizona Charlies many times but have only been to their restaurants and casino. But for a room rate of $25.00 + resort fee + tax that is a very cheap room. Renting a room on the Boulder Highway is always a questionable plan.

Some guy told me Motel 6 has a senior discount too but they also charge $10 for something stupid that other places don't , forgot what it is, so it eliminates the discount

I am very happy that you mentioned Sam's Town because they've got a really high reputation. You mentioned that they're clean... well, I was really happy when I did stay there with my dad. Mystic Mountain with the falls in the atrium was the best highlight of my vacation. I stayed there for 2 weeks several years ago. But yeah, I have never stayed elsewhere other than high-end resorts when I was visiting Las Vegas.
I think the government getting involved and outlawing "resort fees" added on at the end is a good thing. Just bake the stupid price into the actual room cost. This is nefarious.

It was lovely…..usually when we went to Vegas we always rented an apartment for a week where we both had our own bedroom and bathroom and we had a rental car to get around. Should do a video in the Blair Suites in Vegas, I stayed there paid $300 deposit when I checked out I asked to have my room checked before I hit the road, they said no one could check it until after 12 noon, and that my deposit would be sent to me by mail, I never received my deposit and when I called about the deposit they said they were keeping it due to the holes I made in the walls and other damages, so they basically jacked my $300.00
My first job was there and I have a couple of stories to share. The first was an elderly woman who came in and coughed up blood everywhere and then she went to the women's room and coughed up blood in there. But the worst story was when what I assumed to be a couple were seated in my section and everything seemed okay until the woman started dozing off. My supervisor had her attention on the woman and decided to call 911, the guy is freaking out and kept saying that it wasn't necessary to call 911 and she just needed be taken to his room. The paramedics and police came, she got wheeled out and the guy got arrested. Turns out that he drugged her and was planning on violating her, in addition to having a huge load of other drugs in his room.
I stayed at that AZ Charlie's 6-7 years ago in a suite for $150 (sure glad i didn't pay lol). It was alright, I remember Godfather was on tv so I had to leave that on

You can actually view a room before you rent it out at least they let us do that in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. That was the worst room and the worst view ever they gave us our money back which surprise me we refused to stay there. They told me if I go anywhere else to ask to view the room first so we did.

Binion's (Hotel Apache), Four Queens, and the soon to be demolished Casino Royale don't charge resort fees. If you play a reasonable amount at a casino, you can easily avoid resort fees.
