    I grow stuff on a balcony, I have one of those trellis, but mine is too close because I always put mine in side the pot, so I'll be trying this way so I can make it further apart. Thanks for the idea!

      Why do you keep that trellis so tall? How can you harvest from the top?

    Did you drill drain holes in the bottom of the bucket. Great video. Now off to find used buckets.

    How tall should the sticks be? And do they have to be actual bamboo?

      Hi, thank you for watching! We use the buckets we have in our warehouse just to recycle them but you could probably get them from local businesses that have them spare. They are industrial, heavy duty 20L ones. Maybe have a look on auction sites/marketplaces as well.

    Why not zip tie the canes to the side of the buckets before filling buckets and planting ??

    I'm sure I didn't put enough dirt in my buckets. The plants are quite tall. Can I add dirt or compost now or will it rot the stems of the plants. 😢

    Hello there, I've been growing runner beans in containers for a few years in a similar manner to you and enjoy the first few pickings but they soon go stringy, is there anything to avoid this?
    Thanks John.

    • @enviiuk
      @enviiuk  2 роки тому +2

      Hi John, thank you for watching. If your runner beans are going stringy it's usually down to inconsistent watering. If they go dry they tend to go stringy upon cropping so it's best to keep them as moist as possible. Also, pick them often and pick them when they are young. If you get too many you can blanch them in boiling water and then freeze them, but it's better to have too many young runner beans than let them dry out on the plant.
      Hope this helps!
