You can’t fly
The penguin used to fly but they got too heavy and they got used to the water then they fly any more

1:51 Penguin Fail on the left lol.
💀💀💀
so cute
was about to say that haha
too much cholesterol
The bubbles come from air being trapped in their feathers. They simply open the feathers to release the air, and it helps to make them faster, by allowing them to move through a good deal of air (from the bubbles), and objects move faster through air than through water.
Nature's own torpedoes right there
How does the air end up in their feathers?
@@luudest From when they are above the water, and when they fluff and ruffle their feathers, air gets trapped inside.
@@brentlionakaboldchamp thanks. so they first have to surface and dive down before they can reach such speeds and jump out of the water?
@@luudest Not really, because some air is always available to use that way, since they spend a lot of time out of water, anyways, before they ever go down. The bubbles help, but doesnt make a huge difference, also.
I love penguins. They are so adorable and cute.
indeed, I adore them too
Same
0:43 Extremely beautiful view !
This would be a dream come true! I wish more people could admire all living animals like this, without harming them in any way.
Same.
This is one of the coolest animal documentary I've seen in my life! Photographer's jacket looks like he's a penguin, they got used to havin' him around this is wonderful!
The penguin at 0:45 changed his direction suddenly as if he is playing pinball in real life but it water...😆😁
Also loved the sound of the penguin in the end as if saying "Thanks"...😄😁

Beautiful video.....I love pingüinos, 🥰😍and I love your video.....😍
Super cute!
Yesterday I finally meet the penguins, life changing experience 🥰🥰
How do you describe the cry of a penguin? I can't think of anything to make a comparison. Awesome video - wish I could see that personally.
You should read the article in the magazine. Anyway and to cut it short, when they're in open sea they go to the surface and make their feathers "fluffy" so the air gets trapped under them. Then, they dive towards the ice sheet covering the coast and locate the holes in the ice from behind. At that point, they "contract" or "unfluffy" their feathers, what presses the air out of them in small bubbles. That seems to work as a lubrifiant in the water, so they can reach very high speeds.
Cool
I so much want to go scuba diving in Antartica! Thank your for giving me the next best thing.
Amazing footage.
They have an utterly contrary things between cute and cool.

"Just wave and smile boys just wave and smile"
I'd love to see a follow-up with how the penguins (and seals) are dealing with the missing ice shelves now. It would seem they will find a way, but...? Those new cliffs look pretty high. obviously, there are still lower areas, but have those been impacted I wonder?
Majestic animals!
Those are aliens when we watch memes
0:11 the nice synced squack lol

this is amazing !
It's awesome that they knew the humans were not a threat.
I love how they didn't edit out the pee-spot at 53s
Love how they suddenly go from waddling ice chicken to a tuxedo torpedo
Thank you : )
awesome, gj nat geo~
What a cute kid!
Beautiful 👏🏽
The bubbles are a result of the speed. When velocity exceeds the natural rate at which water can restitute, a void is created which in turn turns to bubbles.
my favorited bird after barn owl and peregrine
My favorite is Peregrine then barn owl then gyrfalcon and snowy owl then this
this is the nat geo i subscribed to

1:34 „they create a tunnel of around themselves“ -> where does the air under water comes from?
sangat indah dan hebat. Kehidupan alam yang begitu eksotis. Hebat juga bagi pembuat filmnya, pekerjaan yang rumit dan berat, tapi menghasilkan sesuatu yang elok dan sempurna !
Betul

What a cool video!
The first one though... The sound of him faceplanting onto the ice was brutal.
I mean did he just misjudge it? Because he was literally the only one who entered the water like that.
I agree
Bro is it just me or penguins look so funny 💀
How does he film inside freezing waters, that wows me more than the penguins
Maybe he put his camera inside it?
Me losing bubbles in minecraft:
I still don’t understand how they’re so fast.
He has my dream job!!!!
I always wished I could swim like penguins or dolphins.
wicked cool
It blows my mind that these things can dive over 500 meters.
it's interesting the penguins didn't remain afraid, because there aren't many creatures that live down there, especially the size of humans. however, like penguins, humans walk on 2 legs and are very flat looking when standing up, so once they realized humans weren't killing them, they probably thought that we're "one of them".
"penguins are flightless birds"
Me: 🥺
*Sees penguins under water*
Me: well kind of ☺️
First person to ever see this must have crapped themselves hahaha
The bubbles? I'll be careful, even though my problem is big, since I do not know the English language, I'm fixing with this translator Bing, who now works, is not be very good, but it is the only one that I have.Thank you for such wonderful images.
@ 2:22, the penguin is just hanging out with the camera man
Okay no idea they are that huge! Its like a 4 year old >
