Every school year looks a little different but we keep the things that work and change the things that don't. I am not married to any cirriculum!! We are doing the good and the beautiful for language arts, A.C.E. for science and also the good and the beautiful for science, math u see, spelling u see and sonlight for history! We are also going to get some campfire cirriculum unit studies. I'm so excited for school to start. It will be our first year trying out the good and the beautiful.
My daughter should be a 4th grader and has begged me to homeschool. I feel like she needs to re do 3rd thank you for sharing your approach because I feel the same.
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!! So so helpful in so many ways! I didn't see the 'Made to Homeschool' link, but could have missed it...would love to join that community!!
Hello 👋 I just finished this video (my second of yours today). I'm officially a subscriber. I feel like our homeschooling approach is similar! Though, we use different curriculum. You seem laid back and I like that. I am a stay at home, homeschooling mama to two girls. They are 2.5 and 8. My older daughter is entering grade 3 next month. We aren't using any of the same materials you are, but the methods are similar. Living books, narration, notebooking, some workbooks (just math though), unit studies and whatever else we find useful. I'm excited to watch more of your content!
Hey! Just found your channel. We are entering into our 5th year homeschooling and have a similar flow to our homeschool that you do. I love the large resource base you pull from. We are similar in that. We have some struggling readers and I’m on the hunt for what to use to help them through (3rd and 1st graders). I was looking for other language arts supplements which is how I found your video. Looking forward to more of your content 😊
We school very similiar to you! Ive not seen anyone I relate to more! We had peaceful press lined up for next year and I love the idea of play to read for my upcoming kindy girl. Love what your puttong out!
We are doing level 3 tgtb with my 4th grader and I really like it. We beef up the writing though. We plan on starting Gather Round Rocks and Minerals next week so then we will most likely cut tgtb back to twice a week.
I am trying to be open to the idea of "we are done when we are done" not pushing through and being overwhelmed with too much seat work. Your way of homeschooling is different from ours but I love the mindset. We are also using NC Brothers keeper devotional.
Hi Christina thank you so much for this information and you are doing a good job with your kids. I love to see your videos help me so much at home. Question from where do you get the My scripture work book?
I also have a thief a third grader next year. She may require something different from my other kiddos, as she just marches to the beat of a different drum. ;) She just loves being outside and moving. So working on meeting her where she's at, but finding a literature choice she actually enjoys has been tricky. She has really enjoyed the older Trailblazer biography books about Christian heroes by Dave & Beta Jackson.
We are very eclectic ourselves. I thought we were the most eclecticlc but you seem even more. We tried unit studies it didn't work for our family. We use colorful workbooks, lots of reading both fiction and nonfiction, a few online classes, scouting activities, homeschool classes, and UA-cam videos / documentaries for our learning.
@@Keena-t6y I have heard that some curriculums are easier the children with dyslexia, but I can’t remember which ones specifically, I’m sorry! Have you tried audio books alongside following along in the text?
Christina How did you do on your convention and the paneling that you did good on the seventh and eleven and third grade curriculum enjoy this weekend ❤ also happy Father's Day for your husband and Dad
I had no idea how vital learning pre cursive then cursive writing is to the brain and neurology from about 8 years old. I remember learning it in the sixties but thought it was only to learn to write quickly. It's about much more than that.
When you do family style studies, do you repeat in later years for the younger ones that may not have gotten as much from the study? Love the concept of family learning, but trying to wrap my head around that peice.
So I have a question, when you notify the state about what your kids are doing for the upcoming year- does the state question why she is still doing second grade language? I love your eclectic homeschool style. I’d like to go a little slower or dive deeper in some topics. But I get a bit caught up in completing what I’ve submitted to the state. We are in Vermont, I’ve heard New York is a bit more strict so I am curious how you handle this.
No, I don’t even indicate the level, but if I did I would share that it is actually equivalent to third grade because TGTB is above grade-level. I tell them very little. My reports are one page. If they want to know more they can ask 😉
We’re also doing the Safety course from the Good and Beautiful. Have you read through the pornography and sexual abuse storybooks? I’ve talked about these topics with my older boys, but am unsure if I want to discuss it with the younger ones yet.
I’m not trying to be mean but all the moms talking about homeschooling are a little long winded and I just would like information you can’t hurt my feelings I have c-ptsd ur fine just spit it out please ❤
I’m right there with you on trying to break free from certain mind sets and make many different things available to my children.
Yes! So freeing!!
