I'm so very happy for Ons for what is the biggest win of her career thus far! I recall seeing her up close in person at the US Open a couple of years ago. I learned while I was watching that she was one of the first (if not the only) Tunisian woman to play on the WTA, that she had to qualify for the main draw, and that she was playing in one of her first grand slam event main draw matches that day. When she lost in straight sets, I watched her, and saw a rather downtrodden expression on her face (not unusual, of course), and I felt for her. Maybe that she was young, and so far from home, and being a lower-ranked player, and that she probably did not have the coaching staff/entourage with her to at least keep up her spirits. Physically, she was a bit unimpressive; she was not as tall as most female players of her generation, and perhaps a bit over the weight of most of them as well (the story of my life - shorter and heavier than most in my age group - of course, I'm no professional athlete)! I made it a point to remember her name, and said to myself that I'd watch for her. Since then, well, the rest is history; she is the consummate underdog success story in women's tennis, and with a fun to watch game too! Congratulations Ons Jabeur and tennis overall!

Ons won Roland Garros Junior in 2011, she proved back then already that she had talent. A couple of years ago, she was already reaching the quarter finals of major tournaments like Cincinnati and Australian Open. She even reached the final of the Kremlin Cup back in 2017. Sure her W-L record wasn't as great as it is now but she didn't become a top 10 in just a couple of years...

Ons' tennis is just pure magic. She got almost everything as her arsenal, speed, reflex, varieties, and craftiness, you name it, but sometimes she lacks confidence and doesn't believe in herself. Hoping that this will make her more confident in her own shoes. We love you Ons! Congrats! Kudos to Pegula as well, she's also a star of her own. 😊

Ons Jabeur 🇹🇳 this season so far:
. The player with the most victories so far on clay with 12 victories (last season she achieved 13 victories in the entire clay season)
. 17 victories without any loss when winning the first set
. The player with the most victories when the match goes to a 3rd set with 8 wins, accompanied by the American Amanda Anisimova
. The player with the most Aces in Madrid Open this year 👍
. In the quarter finals against Halep, she did 15/18 successful drop shots 🤯
A well deserved title 👏👏 (and hard luck to Pegula, who is also a wonderful player 🙏 )

Not her best match of the tournament but overall the title is well deserved for Jabeur, especially after beating Bencic and Halep. She had once again many moments of frustration and irritation, she almost broke her racket on her head, but this is further experience that will help her better control her emotions in the future. Now I think she should skip Rome to better focus on Roland Garros.

I think so too. But she has had the habit of overcrowding her schedules which led to her being exhausted and not really having a proper go at many tournaments.

That's exactly what I was thinking about, especially in light of the fact that she's relatively short and more bulky in comparison to other players. I feel that not fitting the standard wheighed heavy on her shoulders and exacerbated her anger management issues. But hell yeah she made it and made us all happy and proud.
