    To the people who think this is cruel, abusice, inhumane, etc , for working animals to work, These horses are bred for work. bred for thousands of years for work. This horses are probably more fit than the horses you seen in your stables or any stables you'll visit. Very well tempered and trained. They move with ease and don't appear to be in any pain. If these horses were in pain or any form of discomfort they'd most certainly show it. They're just doing a job they dont even know is work. Probably doing their jobs better than most people would! lol GOOD HORSES!!

    Obviously an old tradition. This draft horse isn't feeling any pain. It woukd take mor than a basket or two and one human sitting in the saddle. Draft horses are built for this.

    To the sympathetic: work is not torture. Fit, healthy adult animals, including humans, actually enjoy it.
    You would destroy their jobs and then put them in a depressing prison with nothing to do but eat. Wait, at least, until they're old and creaky.

    This is so cool! Only thing I would be worried about is the horse getting caught in the net, but these guys definitely have it down pat.

    Are their tails docked by being cut off at birth or using a rubber band .. Like I don't really understand how and or why?

    • @MissFlying1
      @MissFlying1 10 років тому

      I think it's related to the horse breed.. I am not sure either. :)

    • @anlissantomodachi1599
      @anlissantomodachi1599 10 років тому +2

      the tails are cut because like that it's easier to guide them with the reins over their back when they are pulling a cart. It's a tradition to do it like that. But there has been discussion about it. Maybe they just could keep their tails? I don't have a defined opinion about it. I tend a bit more towards letting the horses keep their full tail, but the short tail is typical for working horses like this.

      @SB-ll1tt 7 років тому +1

      Tails are also docked so they don't get stuck in machinery or carts.

    how are these beautiful horses repaid in Belgium ? man is judged by their treatment of animals...I am happy that this is done the way it is done and should be, however...saddened to know Belgium is one of the smallest yet biggest offenders of horse meat.

    use a vehicle. its not very manly to hurt animals. take the time to research that curb bit and chain in your horse's mouth. and sitting on horses causes lasting pain and damage.

    • @coffeecupfever
      @coffeecupfever 9 років тому +13

      I have seen many horse lovers inflicting far more pain on their horse than what these guys were doing. They weren't hauling on their mouth, the reins were slack. I see exceptionally well trained horses working along with their owners. Any bit is only as severe as the hands on the reins.

      Jenn Tuohy You don't know a lot about horses, don't you? These horses feel as much pain as you typing your text. Nothing. Besides those horses are monsters, they have a pain level far above humans. Actually these horses enjoy doing this work, rather than being locked op all day.

    • @gruetgewald4016
      @gruetgewald4016 9 років тому +1

      Yes, there is. There are several reasons. The first reason is because of the tail might get stuck into the harness so handling could be made impossible. The second is because of the tradition of "docking". The third is because some people think it's beautiful. The fourth reason is very questionnable: some think that the tail could harm the stallion while mating. The last is reason is that those horses look more impressive, stronger,... without a tail, so they can be sold more easily.
      But I also want to say that cutting the tail of a horse is indeed painfull. Using horses to ride or to work is not painfully, under normal conditons.

      Actually that type of work is far easier on the horse than us going to the office to sit, type and have stress all day. The salt water does wonders for horses legs, they are not stressed out, heck they are not even breathing hard! These horses probably only go out once or twice a day and then go home get a bath, a rub down, fed some sweet grain and then left alone in a nice pasture. I would much rather have that life than have to work in a box under the conditions we humans often work under.
