Amazon usually has Card Guardian around $24. I bought both to give it a spin. It appears that it's made by the same manufacturer. I think the black backing is slightly different. I picked Card Guardian because it has better color choices. Makes organizing a bit easier. So I'm gonna give the check to Card Guardian for looks.
I own both now. They have worked out solid for me. I do wish they had a bit more room in the binding for when they get really full of cards, but other than that, I have no other feedback for them at this point in time.
This is actually really useful to hear, thanks! I've used Card Guardian in the past and liked it quite a bit, however I wanted another binder pretty quickly and Amazon had the Vault X binder for free same day delivery, so I ended up just getting that instead.
That's a terrible choice and I hope you return it very soon. You should be buying the Card Guardian binder because the extra fabric from the page to the sleeve makes a huge difference because the longer the fabric, the less likely the cards near the column of the front pages will bend.
Yes the distance between the center and the binder sleeves matters the longer the better as it prevents roll over from filling the whole binder. Meaning the cards that are close to the center sometimes bend
Early on in the video my first thoughts went to them either being from the same company or stock items that get stamped with logos. Even down to the zippers, they are just so similar. Great review!
As similar as they are wondering if they come out of the same Chinese factory. I love the Vault-X and have been using them for everything for base set-up, but the color selection is kind of limited. Card guardian at least gives a few extra color options in the zippered version. Might just get some of the different colors to add to the set

Great video, and information. I apologize if you've addressed this already, and I missed it, but I am wondering if the Vault X especially, or even the Guardian are big enough to accept Dragon Shield (regular size Matte) sleeves?? Thank you so much for any more help in deciding which binder will work best for my needs. 🙂
I use Dragon Shields. I should have a double sleeve video on my channel where I show using those brands for my metazoo sets. I'll say double sleeving makes the binder a little tight when loading it with hundreds of cards. But I think single sleeves would give you more room when doing hundreds of cards in one binder.
@@TedsBasementPodcast Thank you for your quick response and again great information! I don't double sleeve , just the single with the Dragon Shield , so this binder sounds perfect and with everything else you point out, very well made. Much appreciated!!🙂
Great idea. I have a bunch with complete sets in them. Most sets don't have as many cards as these binders can hold. I may need to fill them the rest of the way.
I'm doing the same with MZ. I think I may either sell my Card Guardian or use it for Dream Book. Wich, btw I'll have Dream Book pre orders opening up soon in my shop. 😉
Do you know any zip binders out there with smaller pockets than vault x? My cards slide around a bit in vaultx pages. Dragonshield pages are ideal but they don't have a zip binder without D-ring or a strap. Basically a zip binder with dragonshield-like pages would be the ideal binder for me
All these zip binders 100% come from the same OEM manufacturer. There's another brand in my country with a leatherette cover but the exact same pages, pocket stitching, size, and even zipper mould + an embossed logo
@@TedsBasementPodcast It's the Monster Pulls Zip binder (not the monster brand everyone is familiar with, monster pulls is an lgs here). I own both and the structure is the exact same, just the material for the cover is different.
It's funny you ask because I just used some penny sleeves in my new D-Spirits cards and put them into an Ultra-Pro binder and they fit fine. I need to remember to put them into the vault-x to test out the fit. I'll try to get back to you here after I do that.
I have a top deck binder, had to switch because the design of the binder bent the first 3 rows of cards. I would avoid Top Deck, even though apart from this huge error the quality feels nice.
Yeah they need to make a Ringless that would allow you to add/remove sheets and still keep them locked in securely. But for now I use ringless for sets because the order of the cards doesn't change for me.
Nice video. Can you tell me whether the front cover of these 9 pocket binders have a tendency to snap back closed unless weight is put on them, or do they stay still by themselves? I have a 4 pocket VaultX zipper binder, and that's the one thing I really hate about it. I can't admire the first couple pages of my binder, because the front cover of the binder always snaps back shut unless I keep my hand or other weight on it. This issue has made me avoid purchasing more VaultX binders, and I instead go for Dex Protection or Legion binders because they don't have that problem. How do the 9 pocket Card Guardian and VaultX binders fare in this regard?
I saw these two brands and a comparison is EXACTLY what came to mind....so glad you made this video. Just in time lol! Thank you good sir, awesome review. Will definitely be buying one of these brands. :)
