1. Train at the same time each day 2. Read or study what you want to train 3. Plan your workout 4. Have a gym partner 5. Hydrate 6. Foam roll 7. Plan your playlist 8. Turn your phone on do not disturb 9. Do cardio after weight training 10. Bring your post workout protein
Been watching your vids for years - I love how as you get older you’re becoming this wise mentor... :) Appreciate all you do, and looking forward to more mentoring vids like this!
Man i love you. I want to say thank you for your videos. This is because you inspired me to start my own youtube channel with social reactions. Without you, i would never find the courage to go ahead and talk to women on the street. Thanks.
I just wanted to sincerely thank you because even though i am a self motivated athlete, i still have my ups and downs; good days and bad days. Having someone who is real and speaks from actual self experience to look up to and learn from just means a lot to me. KEEP DOING YOU 💪🏼
Thank you! Not only are you reaching your generation but those in their 50’s on up! I’m in my late 50’s and my goal is to one day compete in powerlifting, right now I’m building strength, losing blubber, I’m working with a coach who is so amazing. I love your videos because of the tips you give, like today and I love Hobbs 👍👍
I started just not even taking my phone into the gym and that has worked wonders for me. I feel so much less of the “punching in and punching out” feeling and I’m able to plow through the workout without taking 5 minute tests because of looking at my phone. I’d recommend for anyone to try it
Ok, love this list. Here's what I do in relation to this list: 1. I train around 5:00-5:30 MWF Weights / 8:00 AM MWF T-Mill Cardio - 5.0 degree, 3.4-3.7 mph / Cardio - Tu & Thurs, gym class cardio workout, combination HIIT and Cross Fit 2. I follow several you tube fitness people (such as this one) 3. I show up with my "gym book" listing what I'm working, the exercises, sets, and reps 4. Unfortunately, I have no partner 5. I bring with me a drink that is 80% water, 20% Pomegranate Juice, with once scoop EAA and one scoop electrolyte drink; and, I drink on avg. 112 oz of water per day 6. I haven't been foam rolling, but I will have someone at the gym show me 7. My playlist is Pandora "80's Rock." Not a fan of hip hop or rap that they play on the gym system. 8. Done...music only 9. Cardio is in the am, weight lifting is in the pm...if I miss my cardio, then it's always after the weight lifting session. 10. Always! BONUS: Never need it. Any suggestions anyone, feel free. At 63, I'm having a rough time burning off my "middle," the dreaded old age "tummy." One person has suggested I cut carbs down, another suggested I break my macros down as such: 40% Carbs, 40% Fat, 20% Protein. Right now, I have my macros at 40% protein and 30% each Carbs and Fat. Like I said, any suggestions.
Love this video!! I literally already do every single one of these except for the gym partner and it was really reaffirming to watch this and tell me to continue to keep going
I train every afternoon after work! No excuses! Job, wife, kids, traffic but you have to set boundaries and have your must haves! The only must I have held onto in 10 years is working out everyday except weekends...weekends are for church and family no compromising!
Thanks for the tips! I have a 9-5 office job and sometimes can only get a quick 45 minute workout done during my lunch break.. would be awesome to see a video on any quick weight workouts/routines that you would do if you were in the same situation!
Just wanted to thank you for all the awesome content you’ve put out there Steve. I’m a newer lifter, but you’re content is awesome. I really look to you for inspiration
2 points to comment on: 1- Is that I think you could of made your video shorter. 2- I feel like the reason why you like drinking post protein right after leaving gym, is that it nutrients your body after losing all that food and energy u had lost working out.. and I think I would like it too because I leave the gym very hungry. Thank you for the great video.
Tip: Lysol towels to clean everything! Before and after touching using it! On the old gym I was training some of my clients got fungus on their legs for wearing shorts and seating on the machines and bench.
What’s up bro! Can you make a video about how to move from teen years to later in life, and successful tips you have taken, ive been following you for the longest man and can say you’re an idol! Appreciate all these videos!
Two things that after going to the gym for a couple of years now would be 1.) Know before hand what your going to do, exercises, sets, not necessarily reps go to failure 2.) Make a music playlist before hand that way you aren't shuffling or looking for a certain song in between sets.
Hey Steve, great tips! Definitely useful info. One request, could you do a video on supplement recommendations? What they are, how and when to use them? Maybe some links? You’ve touched briefly on some but an actual more in depth video would be very helpful for me to maximize my efforts!! Thanks 🙏🏼
If you’re a student like me view your workout as a reward. I workout in the evening after I’ve done after my studies to reward myself for studying and finishing all of my homework
I dream of going to the gym in the morning before work, but since I wake up for work at 05:30 it would completely ruin my sleep cycle and chance for social life after work. But morning workouts are the absolute best by far
Dear Steve, would it be an idea if you make some sort of try out account for the app for people starting off in the gym and for when you want to orientate yourself and what type of workouts you want to do.
Thank you Steve, just had an ah ha moment, I haven’t been pre planning my workouts and haven’t been visualizing myself at the gym...duh! Correcting that today! Thanks again!!! Tips on the best techniques for foam rolling would be much appreciated, love and respect! 😊💜
Same! I have 2 playlists (hiphop n rock) and I have bluetooth headphones and I leave my phone in my bag so I'm not worryed about misplacing my phone. I also take my glasses off, which makes me focus on what I'm doing becos I can't see anything pass my nose 🤣. And thirdly I wear a cap and I pull it right down over my eyes so ppl can't see my face or make eye contact and also I can make all the facials in the world w/out freaking other gym goers out 🤣, then I'm not self conscious becos I can't see if anyone is staring at me being weird
I wanna bring a protein shake with me for right after but I don’t like a warm shake. It sometimes takes me a while to get home after the gym and making a protein shake or eating. I do have a mini blender but I can’t just bring ice and strawberries and pb with me to the gym lol
I think that both myself and other teenagers would like to see more tips on actual exercises that you do in order to get muscular and why those particular exercises rather than some other.
my office starts at 6 am morning and no gym is open before that so i workout a bit with resistance bands at home before office and then post office i go to gym
I prefer to train after breakfast. Working out first thing in the morning is grim, i feel like im still waking up through the workout. I tried it twice and both times my workouts were rubbish. Each to there own though
Hi Steve. I MUST try and be more organised so this is very useful. Are you not worried about AMPK generated during cardio inhibiting mTOR and therefore blocking protein synthesis following your resistance training?
1. Train at the same time each day
2. Read or study what you want to train
3. Plan your workout
4. Have a gym partner
5. Hydrate
6. Foam roll
7. Plan your playlist
8. Turn your phone on do not disturb
9. Do cardio after weight training
10. Bring your post workout protein
TheHillary45 love you
Thank you
i was hoping there was a, you
Bonus: Face wipes.
Post workout protein isn't important if you eat a few hours after
So happy that Steve is regularly posting again :)
Could you do a video on tips to foam rolling or maybe a post workout stretch/pre workout stretch!? Definitely something I need to work on
I agree Rachel M. Lense that would be a good video, could definitely use foam rolling tips!
Yes please
Rachel u in fuckboys have respect for yourself
Y
Fitness culture has a great video on that if you're still looking for that.
I’ve never watched Steve much until these last couple of videos. These “How to’s” and routine videos are awesome and super engaging
Been watching your vids for years - I love how as you get older you’re becoming this wise mentor... :) Appreciate all you do, and looking forward to more mentoring vids like this!

Man, every since your PRE commercial I've been following you, you inspire a hell of a lot of people, including myself 💪💪
Testosterooster same! I saw his pre ad in 2013 and have been following him ever since.
setting up your playlist before a workout is a BIG game changer!
Beatriz Victoria another option is listen to sets on SoundCloud if you’re into EDM 😅
a supplement video would be awesome! loved the DO NOT DISTURB tip, defiantly going to give that a try!
Dawson Voskia me too!
Thank you! Not only are you reaching your generation but those in their 50’s on up! I literally do all these things and couldn’t agree more with you! 5am workouts are literally the best too 😍
Steve cook is dropping knowledge once again one video at a time
It makes so much sense to lift first. I have always just done cardio first out of habit but I’m gonna try the other way around now
I used some of your videos and I found they revolutionized my progress. Your ab program was amazing. Great content.
I started just not even taking my phone into the gym and that has worked wonders for me. I feel so much less of the “punching in and punching out” feeling and I’m able to plow through the workout without taking 5 minute tests because of looking at my phone. I’d recommend for anyone to try it

I watch a Steve Cook video to pump me up before the gym! 👌
I train every afternoon after work! No excuses! Job, wife, kids, traffic but you have to set boundaries and have your must haves! The only must I have held onto in 10 years is working out everyday except weekends...weekends are for church and family no compromising!
Steve, could you do a video on foam rolling? Maybe by itself or in the next workout you do? Would much appreciate it 😃
Thanks for the tips! I have a 9-5 office job and sometimes can only get a quick 45 minute workout done during my lunch break.. would be awesome to see a video on any quick weight workouts/routines that you would do if you were in the same situation!

Bro that elbow to elbow tip is great!
Tip: Lysol towels to clean everything! Before and after touching using it! On the old gym I was training some of my clients got fungus on their legs for wearing shorts and seating on the machines and bench.

Not that I am surprised but I got some really helpful info from this video. Wish I had watched it earlier but glad UA-cam recommended it to me.
the full of successful people part is so insanely true
Steve, talk about taking long long long breaks from lifting, and then trying to get back in the gym again. Love your vids.
Two things that after going to the gym for a couple of years now would be
1.) Know before hand what your going to do, exercises, sets, not necessarily reps go to failure
2.) Make a music playlist before hand that way you aren't shuffling or looking for a certain song in between sets.
please steve do a video about business and how to benefit from your teen years for later on in life
Hey Steve, great tips!
Steve’s edits get better animations every time 👌
From all your tips all i need is a good playlist
Thankyou sir!!!
will you be visiting India in 2020?
Love these kinda videos!!💙
Saw this and soooo pumped to go to the gym in the morning from now on
I dream of going to the gym in the morning before work, but since I wake up for work at 05:30 it would completely ruin my sleep cycle and chance for social life after work. But morning workouts are the absolute best by far
Can you do a video on if you’ve lost muscle, how long it would take to gain it back?
If this was a Mr. Beast video, the title would be "I Used Every Special Effect Available In One Video"
Yeah too much editing/effects
Just started a week ago switching to working out early in the morning and love it!
Dear Steve,
would it be an idea if you make some sort of try out account for the app for people starting off in the gym and for when you want to orientate yourself and what type of workouts you want to do.
Yep. Ready to go to the gym now!
Hey Steve, could you do a video to teach us how to foam roll properly?
Thank you Steve, just had an ah ha moment, I haven’t been pre planning my workouts and haven’t been visualizing myself at the gym...duh! Correcting that today! Thanks again!!! Tips on the best techniques for foam rolling would be much appreciated, love and respect! 😊💜
The foam roll DOES make miracles!!
No edits dude. Just let it run.
First tip I'm gonna try incorporate. I hate workout buddies as they all suck and no one works out.
I'm new here and I've been loving your content
Great tips Stave👊💪Thank you.
Loved this video dude. I stopped watching you a while back but I'm going to get back into it!
been loving these types of videos lately!
Thank you Steve! Been out of my workout mojo for quite a while now.... I think this video will get me back on track! :)
Bro thanks so much for your content! It’s a constant help to the gym!
I shared this video in my FB. I liked those tips so much.
I appreciate the knowledge. I need to return to the gym and videos like this help the process to return!!!
Same! I have 2 playlists (hiphop n rock) and I have bluetooth headphones and I leave my phone in my bag so I'm not worryed about misplacing my phone. I love the motivational videos from Steve it’d be dope to see more of those 🤙
Can you share your gym playlist?? I need to get in Steve mode 🥳
Luis Ortiz on Spotify, it’s a gymshark playlist
Always enjoying your videos Steve. You are the best.💪💪🖐
#1 is a huge point.
This video is awesome! Thanks for the tips!
I wanna bring a protein shake with me for right after but I don’t like a warm shake. It sometimes takes me a while to get home after the gym and making a protein shake or eating. I do have a mini blender but I can’t just bring ice and strawberries and pb with me to the gym lol
I use RYSE Supps. Was using ghost but Ryse is amazing. That’s loaded protein
Steve can we have a what’s in your gym bag video please
Steve you are a true inspiration🙌🏼
The best play list is just plain old plates clanging to each other before the break of dawn
what's with all of the thumbs down for free healthy info, same with the real estate videos i watch.
its free wisdom,experience and knowledge.
Steve! Great video bro! Very Practical, simple, to the point! Keep up the great work!
Do a video of what foam rollers are best to use!!!💯💁♀️ I need this
Everything checked! Keep it up Steve! loving the videos :)
Thank you so much Steve for all the knowledge. It's very helpful 🤗😉👌🏼
It never fails what it is, something in your videos always makes me laugh 😂
I think that both myself and other teenagers would like to see more tips on actual exercises that you do in order to get muscular and why those particular exercises rather than some other.
Steve cook the best of the best no cap
totally agree, except for Knowledge is Power.... remember Cersei Lannister? POWER IS POWER
my office starts at 6 am morning and no gym is open before that so i workout a bit with resistance bands at home before office and then post office i go to gym
For the reading/ study tip, do you have any recommendations on any books people should buy?
What supplements do you suggest and when do you take them? This video was so helpful! Thank you!
I prefer to train after breakfast. Working out first thing in the morning is grim, i feel like im still waking up through the workout. I tried it twice and both times my workouts were rubbish. Each to there own though
Awesome as always my man. I hope my channel will be as awesome as yours one day. I can dream.
I always read right before working out or even play it while working out
Steve: if you kill your workout, you’re likely to kill everything in your day
Me(a nurse): 😳
You are My inspiration Steve...Love from Nepal 🇳🇵
Do a foam rolling video. How to stretch the IT band.
Great tips!! Can you show us your workout playlist for ideas?
Little finger : knowledge is power #GOT
Hey steve what’s that book you’re reading when you talk about reading/researching? It looks really useful
Hi Steve, would you mind sharing a few of your favorite books on bodybuilding? Thanks!
Do a mock powerlifting meet
Best gym video I’ve seen
Alec, relax on the editing. The videos are getting too crowded. Steve’s old videos were super raw and that’s what made them awesome.
I do appreciate it a lot man
Hi Steve. I MUST try and be more organised so this is very useful. Are you not worried about AMPK generated during cardio inhibiting mTOR and therefore blocking protein synthesis following your resistance training?
Love you Chanel mate
Good advice mate 🤙
What is that book ?
Make it a great day, Steve. Cheers!~
Suggestions on books to read about what to train
