I forgot my antenna. Foiled? Maybe

- I forgot my antenna, wire, mast, cable... My plans will not be foiled. Or will they? Luckily, I had aluminium foil and made a vertical antenna with 2 radials. What DO YOU THINK of my idea? What interesting antennas have you made?

Raisa, you never cease to amaze me!! Always thinking and improvising!! You are definitely a great teacher for our hobby!! Thank you!!
😃Thanks Philip!
I like your " matching " outfit 🙂
I love your combination of ingenuity and humour! Made my day!
Fantastic... really enjoyable..
The spirit of Ham Radio is strong with your Raisa! Well done!
Thanks, Rob. Same words to you!!!
The aluminum cat suit is an effective ground plane.
You revealed my secret 😂😆
I'm sure and you show it, that you had as much fun doing the video as we had watching it😂😊❤
I love your humor and enthusiasm!
73s
Thanks!😀
I think that these wide radials are really effective if compared with narrow single wires! Tks Raisa for sharing. 73 de IZ3GOA Sergio.
You are welcome Sergio!
I really enjoy your experiments with different antenae!
Thanks. Me too 😆
You produce my favorite amateur radio videos, and you are the highlight of them all. You are the beauty queen of amateur radio.
Just awesome, Raisa. You are the Rockstar of Amateur Radio!!!!!
😂😂😂
Had never thought to do that. But I don’t have a silver jumpsuit... yet
First you need to think about buying it! 😂😆
Great videos Raisa especially want to try the balloon antenna 73s & 88s. Can’t wait to see what you get up to in your next one xx
I wish you good luck with the balloon antenna !
Please let me know how it works? ;)
Hi Raisa , truly amazing TBH i think it was the hat that made it work so well hi hi .73
Definitely, without the cap, the experiment would not have been a success! 😂😂😂
Absolutely amazing and loved the way you told the story.
Gosh amazing. I am looking forward again to your very interesting posts. I have just had a month in hospital. Kind regards 73's Pat ZL2AI
Congratulations Raisa!!! Very Good The difficulties in life must always be overcome because we are Perfect in Creation 73 God bless you and your Family.
Well said 💯
Every time a new video from you shows up on my suggestions, I can't wait to watch and see what you're going to do next! I bet you'd be so fun to hang around with! Please, never stop sharing your creations and experiments! Much love from Indiana, USA!
Thank you for your kind words, I try to do my best :-) 73. Raisa
@@YLRaisa i seek u!!!! thx for this video!73!
can not wait to hear you on the air
I will be on the air from Croatia soon! On Tuesday or Wednesday 😃
I LOVE your silver jumpsuit, and your foil hat is soooooo cool. You might start a new fashion trend.
And I was so surprised that this actually worked, but I suppose metal is metal.
73 and 88 from M6OFU.
and this metal could get 100W power without any problem ;-)
Раиса, Вы - чудо ! Спасибо за видео и позитив ! Привет из Минска !!!
Спасибо большое. Теплый привет в Минск!
The real spirit of experimenting!
Never think that something is not possible, but always going straight with quite crazy ideas.
You dare as well as VK3YE Peter.
Brava Raisa!
Hi Peter! TNX for nice words, I keep spirit of experimenting! ;-)
The MacGyver of ham radio...Love it! Radio in the woods 2 Awesome things in one.
yes, but now in the winter time it is not so easy to me ;-) Raisa
Hey there Raisa, this is awesome! Wooohooo congrats on such a cool and ingenius antenna. I'll be sure to have some foil handy for my next activation! Cheers, Simon
Raisa, great ideas, .and thanks from LU1OAH.
magnific! you're genius ehm ...beautyful genius!!!!!
Nice work Raisa, I like the foil hat. Keep up the good work thanks for sharing 73.
This hat was the reason for a good SWR!
You are one funny and crazy lady, great job, congratulations!
If the foil would not be wrapped and and could stay in its natural form (probably impossible because of wind and getting tangled, your antenna would have more bandwidth.
With the right wooden contraption you could make it stay in full width, but that would only work on a calm day.
I love the creativity and humor you have, brilliant!
it is good idea!!! I need warm and windless weather.
In fact, due to the fact that this is not a wire but rather a thick tree, the bandwidth was already quite wide.
Very impressive. What we'd call a 'MacGyver'. ;) Though, if someone comes along and sees a person wearing a silver suit and making something with foil, they're going to think you're from outer-space. :)
Yes, exactly, I am an alien who accidentally landed on Earth. LOL!
@@YLRaisa Well, we're glad you're here. :)
Love it - totally original ham-radio content. Mark, 2E0MSR
Thanks :)
Raisa, I enjoy watching your videos!!! I enjoy DXing shortwave stations. I like your hat, too. Be well!!
Thanks, the hat was done there on the spot - it was funny process ;-)
You have a great sense of humor Raisa! 😂 👏
I have to remember to pack my shiny silver space cadet jumpsuit when re-creating the foil antenna... I think it's essential to guarantee success. 🤔
I really appreciate people with a good sense of humor. Making jokes is quite a difficult task for people from different countries. :)
Exactly! The suit plays an important role in this experiment.
You haven't posted new video and I missed you, so I watched this one again. ❤❤❤
it will come soon! preparing right now ;-) 73! Raisa
very interesting never would have thought of tin foil to make an antenna and ground plane like this
Very clever video. Very stylish for you too!
Tnx!
VERY NICE ANTENNA DEAR RAISA
I would have to give a 10 to your foil, and your space suit.
Good perforemance of the hf skineffect. Interesting the adjustment of the SWR with a saw.😊
I can make the antenna but if I try to wear the catsuit I'd look like a baked potato. 😉
Cheers, Raisa
The suit was not important for ham radio, try the antenna ;-)
Great way to get on the air with what you have with you. I'm sure the hat helped your signal strength by at least 1 S-unit. 😀
Thanks :). Next time you're on air, don't forget to wear a hat. LOL
Amazing idea Raisa..gonna try it..
Dear Larisa, you should do a little book with all your experiments (with all the data and your expierences). Some pictures in it with your advntures :)
😂😆 I will tell Larisa to make a book for Raisa 😂
Of course Raisa....😁😉
I mixed up.... the mother of my wife is Larisa...
@@littleking8448 😃 no problem 😊
@@YLRaisa It was really funny how you reacted.... And first I thought, what, why... 😆
Perfect Raisa style, she Is always full of surprises 😅
Ah Raisa you are such a legend and a great comedy act. I love your humor and gauguse smile. I was surprised to see the antenna work and with the way you had it connected to the rig with a piece of stick. I would love to know how much power it handled before or even if the Aluminium foil caught fire.
I had 100 W, I think even with 1 KW it will be no fire.. but who knows..
Great video. Raisa, patent that antenna, and then improve it. Greetings from Tenerife.
Nice idea, Luciano! Thanks!😂
Lots of foil. Afterwards, you can use the antenna to cook hobo meals! Yummm!
こんにちは、今回の動画 面白いし 感動しました 素晴らしい😀
頭に被ってる アンテナ📡も 最高😂 笑顔が素敵😀 7cwz
You're fun.
😂
Dear Raisa, Your videos are always so interesting! Soon, someone will sell a box of aluminum foil, taped to a box of Saran wrap as a portable vertical kit, and sell it for US $599!
All the Best! 73 DE W8LV BILL (W8LV/VE3 pre pandemic)
I may not be as far out there as you, but I, too, am experimenting all the time with antennas. The focus now that I moved and took down my DX Commander Signature 12.4m is on rapid deployment, rapid decommission antennas starting as low as 80m NVIS for the local net and working up in frequency from there. My latest success was one of my previous antennas - an end fed long wire of about 132ish feet about 16 feet up at the catenary ends with a Chameleon Hybrid as the matching transformer / UNUN.
I plan on a rapid up/down horizontal loop and when the poles grow from the 16 feet in height, add a dual vertical delta loop. I say dual, two loops at 90⁰ for mostly omnidirectional performance.
My congratulation! And good luck with experiments. Thanks for sharing with me and my audience your results
Absolutely Brilliant…that really made my night, funny and clever..73’s
😆
@@YLRaisaI had to watch this again this morning…Cool Crazy Raisa…😂
Hilarious, what fun... well done!
I always enjoy watching it.
When you change into an alien costume, the antenna is completed.
QSO with earthlings nice
yes, my body did affect the SWR, it was really ;-)
Dear Raisa, you have always a good Idea and can Help yourself Simple super. !
Brilliant!!
tnx :)
Hi Raisa, incredible...
This was only possible because the aluminum cap worked as a counterweight for the antenna. 😆I have to get off work now and I fell out of my chair laughing in the QRL. 😂 vy 73 Patrick DL7XP
Patrick, I'm glad the video brought you so much joy and laughter.
well done. in the USA we call that thinking outside the box. looks like it would great ! set very well for 1 band. now I have to remember this when I go to the park and forget my coax and antenna . the suit and hat was a great touch ! ham radio can be so much fun ! 73's
thinking outside the box ;-) I will keep this phrase ;-)
Raisa, that foil has your "BIG" callsign. LOL! It was meant to happen. PS. The lemon pie looks delicious. Best 73&88
I was lucky with the foil 😆. And the lemon pia was really good!
Your a Nut LOL, Love your foil Antenna, Great for Thinking Outside the Box 73's VE2TSM

Fantastic....well done...funny and very useful....
Thanks 😀
Great 👍😁 very creative !!
Haha Raisa.. Very fine! LOL!!!
PS - The hat suits you!
Hi Callum, I have an Aluminium Commander now, but yes, it works well only when I have this hat ;-)
You always have the best ideas 😂❤ 73 from Germany
😃 thanks. If you have some ideas for me, pleas share 😀
That's amazing !!! Well done. I loved your video...very educational, interesting, fun...and you look like a character of the American TV series "Lost in Space" from the 60's. Congratulations.
So amazing you just had enough foil for the job.
not sooo much foil was necessary ;)
Прекрасный эксперимент и костюм ТОП❤
Спасибо :)
I laughed my arse off, brilliant!!
Curses "Foiled" again.... ;o) Stay safe...
Do you always take foil with you? 😂😆
Very funny and interesting. I was laughing as you set up in you "helmit" and suit. I also have the FT 891 and I enjoy seeing you work it. Spasiba, Joe KC1MTM
I am very glad you to have nice positive emotion 😃
You are just amazing! You have completed my day. Thank you and 73, K7Ci
Thanks for the funny video but how did you manage to connect the thin foil antenna to the radio without cables?
You likely did not need to cut the tip of the wood off, did you try to cut the thin foil only?
You are right! But it was not in my mind that moment 😆
Epic! Great work 👏 👍 👌
Raisa, you are a star, dont stand under a thunder cloud in that suit. I wonder about Christmas trees now .

Very well Raisa. Fantastic vídeo, fantastic antenna. 73 from Brasil PY7EG Saulo

good point! LOL
great idea thank you😊отличная идея, спасибо😊
You're nuts! But actually I've used PVC pipe covered in foil before for a VHF antenna. Never made one for HF though!
Yes, I thought about the pipe too. But if you forget the antenna, you can also forget the pipe :) 😂
The next DX Commander kit!
Raisa, that's cool: adjust SWR with the foxtail :-)
