(1) With most instances of AI, you’re not actually talking to your own computer-you’re talking to a computer run on the servers of a big corporation. (2) Popular LLMs don’t yet know useful information about you. (3) Such LLMs can’t be trusted to take actions on our behalf. So what is to be done? Owen Barnes is a full-stack developer who has been thinking through the concept of a decentralized web for over a decade. In this talk he suggests an open source alternative to the current AI paradigm, and explains how Urbit could be the ultimate tool for fulfilling the dream of personalized AI.
