  • The Polk County Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of 21-year-old Deputy Blane Lane, who was shot and killed in the line of duty early Tuesday morning when he and fellow deputies attempted to serve a felony warrant. Sheriff Grady Judd said when the suspect pointed a gun at the deputies, two of them opened fire. Several of their bullets hit the suspect, but one went through the wall of the trailer and accidentally hit Lane, who was in a concealed tactical position outside.

Ofc their not going to take responsibility .. This is what they do & will continue doing so long as the law is in their favor. This was clearly an accident but accountability needs to be held and punishment needs to be handed out nonetheless. Trust that these officers would much rather make this Crystal Meth Walmart tweeker or “cranker” (as this meat head sheriff so eloquently stated) the scapegoat.

not to mention someone fired more that two shots at a target less than 7 feet away and missed. two shots, bang bang, and reevaluate the situation. if you pull the trigger more than two times then you're just trigger happy. and the dead cop obviously did not take tactically sound position. Mobile homes are not mazes, they have very simple floorplans. he put himself downrange and caught a bullet from another cop who can't hit what he aims at.

In light of that, I still want to drop a note to tell this devastated family that I'm so incredibly sorry for your loss. 19, Can be a Deputy, Killed in the Military 🪖, Sent to war, but can't even legally have a freaking Beer.
Wow, wayyyyy took young. Like 6 months of training , given a gun and badge, and gooo get em Kiddo. No life experience yet, problem-solving in real life situations, Empathy, Anger, the full spectrum of Emotions in Life and Death situations. Split second life altering , permanent decisions, that can't be taken back. No Mulligans, no Do Overs, no Play this level again.
In perspective, it took me 5 years to become qualified in my trade, that doesn't include kill or be killed. We Construction workers have a higher Injury/Death rate than Cops, Firemen, etc,
Most of our training is Safety Safety Safety. There is Death awaiting us around every corner. It is pounded into our Brains, to be aware of everything at all times.
There's gotta be a better way , longer, more in depth "apprenticeship " training, and time on your tools. It's impossible to get things right, in 6 freaking months. Most cops don't even know the Laws, that they are enforcing, the Constitution they have sworn to uphold, and to be quite honest ESCALATE bad situations, then use Qualifued Immunity to avoid being held accountable for Huge, life changing mistakes.
We The People have lost our trust, in the Powers that be. We see it every single day. Quota hiring, giving a gun and badge to anyone with Purple hair, and a Bad Attitude.
There's gotta be a better way!!
This Sherif is an outstanding human being. More like him would solve these issues quick. He doesn't care, Friend or Foe, if you break the Law, you pay the Price.
      RIP YOUNG MAN

This is the very reason why career criminals like this should not be on the damned streets. How many times does someone need to be locked up before the court system realizes that they're never going to stop committing crimes and throw away the key. This woman was sentenced to if i remember correctly 11 years but had only served 9 and was out. WHY the hell was she out? If you sentence someone to 11 years they should be in there for 11 years. This getting out of jail for good behavior for a career criminal is a joke when the only time they seem to be able to behave is when they're locked up. People like her do not belong out in society with law abiding citizens. Law enforcement does their job and catches them and then these weak woke courts and the whole criminal system fails to do their jobs and keep them where they belong. Now look at the result. A young officer with a family that will never come home. One of the officers inside the home will never get over the fact that he shot and killed his fellow officer when they do ballistics and determine which officer's gun fired the round. His life is ruined too. And the parents and friends of this young officer who lost a loved one. All because the criminal justice system in this country is broken and doesn't keep these career criminals behind bars where they belong. How many more innocent lives will it take for our lawmakers to wake up and fix this? When will the stupidity of criminals having more rights than law abiding citizens stop? Our officers around the county have to deal with this kind of trash on a day to day basis so next time you see an officer shake his hand and thank him for putting his or her life on the line for us all instead of treating them like they're the enemy. They're human beings with families just like us that run towards danger instead of away. They deserve our thanks and our respect because they've earned it.

Law enforcement is very good at deflecting blame to someone else when they make mistakes.I person that has a BB gun is good enough for them and they think it's all their fault. Actually, the law enforcement officer that pulled the trigger is the one who is responsible for the death. The officer didn't just go out simply go out to serve a warrant, they went out to with gun drawn ready for a gun fight. The family should sue the sheriff's department for incompetency and the harm they did.

If this warrant were for a serious crime involving others, rape, murder...etc., it would be a little easier to swallow. A young man losing his life over someone possessing some dope a while back doesn't make sense. The murder charge won't stick either. She may be a low life but isn't in charge of the deputies' situational awareness. An absolute terrible waste of a young life for zero gain.

Sheriff's office received anonymous call that the woman was in Polk city. Four deputies came at 3 am to arrest the woman at home. When they entered the house she pointed a pellet gun at them. Deputies started recklessly shooting. Two rounds hit the woman and one round hit a deputy standing outside the house. The deputy died.

I pray for the young man’s family, and the deputies that were there with him. They must feel horrible, even though it isn’t their fault. As a side, ballistics can get weird when a bullets strikes someone after going through a wall. Even if it is as thin as a mobile home wall, the trajectory, and spin of a bullet can alter, and so do the ballistics. The bullet likely ricocheted off of his shoulder blade down into his chest cavity. It’s a tragedy that shouldn’t have ever happened, and I commend those on the force for sacrificing their health, mental and physical, for the good of the community.

    Basic gun safety.
Know your target and what is beyond.
It’s a known fact that trailer house walls don’t stop bullets.
It doesn’t matter if she had a machine gun, or a tampon, the police are responsible for killing their fellow officer, not her.
He should have been posted in a strategic position out of the line of fire, or listened to where they told him to be.

Pick your battles wisely, which the Pigs did not do here. Was it really worth the rookie Pigs death? All I have to say is that's one less Tyrant Pig on the streets banging on someone's door in the middle of the night over something so petty. On top of that, his own fellow Pig shot him, that's just crazy. All over a petty missing a court date warrant.

It’ll just be the suspects fault again and the dept itself won’t learn a damn thing from this tragedy about shooting where you can’t see.
