I know.a guy who lives in a tent. The guy is x-forces and we talk about ham radio. the guy is a genius and deserves so much more in life. He in passing told me about potentially going to visit you in ealing! now i gather that was many moons ago! *super moons included* .. I told him you're in staines now. i doubt he will actually visit (given his circumstances) but I am going to give him a dh808 or something similar. he will love it.
That radio in the beginning reminds me of the ones in the shop window in the 60's i used to drool over.
Made the pilgrimage to lynchys last year while south from Glasgow, bought DMR and diamond whip, well worth a visit, had a free cup of coffee, ace shop
That Sony ICF-2001D has some of arguably the very best synchronous detection to this day. It's selectively and sensitivity makes it still one of the very best shortwave portables ever manufactured.
So much so, that when it was released it was the radio of choice for foreign spies to tune into numbers stations.
This one is a sleeper, and a keeper.👍 (2E0HVU).
I bought an Icom 7100 and 2820 from Tony 5 years ago at a great price! Fantastic company with great service.
Nice to hear such high praise for the now late Brian Bond (Radio Shack, West Hampstead) 😊
I would love that old multi band radio, reminds me off when I was younger. Sit up in the night listening to anything the radio would pick up. I do believe I did listen to Beacon Radio (west midlands) and the (shush) police.
I just love hearing about the background to some of these radios in the FF section. Could easily spend a couple of hours just browsing throught that lot!
Used ham radio equipment can be some of the most cost effective investments. I love knowing what issues may exist before getting the unit.
Nice to see Tony and the Guvnor together
Hope my generously gifted FT-101ZD cleans up as well as that radio, Starting in HAM and HF this year, with many years to follow.
Loving the old kit. The FT-290R, my first radio back in 1985. Boy, I loved that. 2.5Watts on SSB into a 9 crossed Tonna on the side of my parents' house, I worked so many stations.
"I'll take £100 off of this one" Pan left after the video end and Martin is having to sit down in shock, again 😃 Great to see the boss supporting the team like that and trusting them to do their jobs properly.
I had one of those receivers, was my first access to radio, from there it was a pair of walkie talkies, then CB then full ham
Thanks for the memories
Always love these sales events. Martin only gets better with each one; he and Tony are a great pair! Hope to visit the store next year.
Thanks for reaching out with your energy, onwards and upwards, fella'd 👍
got an alinco dx-70th here, bought it mint boxed. fantastic little radio for its time.
Nice to see all the old (proper) gear this week, had me near to tears, had to have a brandy or two to sort myself out.
Nice to see a couple of old radios being displayed, tuning in from sunny Chessington.
Foundation exam booked! Hoping to stop by the shop very soon and say hi 👍🏼👍🏼
I wish we had more shops ran like this! If you fancy opening another shop near Christchurch, I'd very much appreciate it 😂👍

Hi!!! I have ordered a couple of used transceivers from you and have been highly satisfied. Great job!
Always wanted a radio like that when I was a kid , ended up having a Tandy Jet Stream Mini for aircraft band rx 😀 over 40 years ago , how time flies
Another great video gents. You guys are a great double act and I love listening to Martins memories with regards to gear he used to sell. Thanks and take care.
What a wonderful trip down memory lane that was. My first real communications receiver was the R1000 (bought from ARE) . I also had the AR2001, later owned both the Icom R71 and after that, a JRC NRD545. 73 to you all from M7CUN.
Well that Hira receiver brings back some good memories, must be 40+ years That’s what got me started on my journey to swl and scanning thanks for the channel
I'm pretty sure I had one of those back in around 1981/2. Probably still hidden away in a box on the loft too.
Great to see many of the great ham radios built like tanks made to last ,thanks for showing us around
I wished we had a used equipment shop in Tennessee like this one ! The Kenwood R 1000 for 75 quid , I think $100 American? Sold!!!
That reminds me of a Radio Shack radio I got in the late 1970's. Cheers!
The R1000 maybe working normally. Top Band and everything below 2MHz is on the MW ANT long wire connector. That range is not available via the SO 239. A quirk of the design. Nice receivers. I have on I bought second hand at a rally in the 80s. Dave G8UPO.
Very interesting shop and the older radios are great to see.
Thanks Martin for the visit to ADARC. Enjoyed by everyone. Looks like the lemon drizzle cakes went down well. Hurry back to sunny Devon. 73 de Mick G3PGA + XYL Velma.
Cheers Mike, take care of that lovely Mrs, her cakes are amazing! See you end September, 73 de G4HKS
A great little radio, I had one of those as a nipper.
Will be coming in for the first time tomorrow!!
Enjoyed this "One for the weekend" especially seeing those great prices for quality gear. Looking forward to the next one already.
The Hira was great for the miracle of listening to ITV on a radio! Sadly mine just disappeared over time. I guess it was Hira today, gone tomorrow.
Excellent explanation. We learnt a lot
what a lovely little receiver of yesteryear!
Bought a radio from mls awhile back excellent love it
Very nice old radio.
Realy nice radio! Love the look of vintage radio equipment
Had one of these HIRA radios when I was 10 years old... I'm now 55 😅. Would love this as a bit of nostalgia. G5ROB
Great video every week! Thank you
That Alinco DX70TH looks v nice
Love the old gear, shame you dont sell it over the phone on a no return basis :(
back in the day i used borrow from my dad the hira portable radio to listen to the police lol.
Hi Guys - Looking to visit again soon :)
I really enjoy your videos. If I ever get to cross the pond I would love to visit your shop.
Awesome deals. Wish I was in the UK where I could have an in person visit to your shop.
What a fantastic piece of history! Good luck everyone and thanks for the videos!
I got my very first transciever from the Govnor at the Granby Halls back in 1994 a Yeasu FT8500
I'd love to say I remember the deal but I don't !!!! Thanks for your support anyway, 73 de G4HKS
Cheers Gents, really gd kit this week!
Great info as always
Seeing all this lovely kit is making me happy though I do feel a bit sad that the old hollow state valve kit isn’t as desirable now. I have a heathkit HW101 and a Swan 350C as my main SSB rigs and a heathkit DX100u for AM. My yaesu FT767gx with all the modules and ctcss is my backup HF rig and main VHF.
Top man bought loads from him in radio rallies over the years
Excellent company always doing great sales, I used to look forward in meeting them at Elvaston Castle back in the day
Great video, fantastic looking store.
Great video again ! Love this channel
Enjoyed the repair videos.
Will be in the shop tomorrow morning.
Great video guys from USA
Very nice example.

Interesting. Thank you
Just purchased a uniden of you 2weeks ago thanks for help
Another good vid guys, do enjoy these.
Nice radio and love your store!
Oh my, what a great walk down memory lane! I believe if I was there this last weekend, I would have spent all my savings. 😂 I don't know how I hadn't been Subscribed, but I've fixed that! Thanks guys for a great video and history lesson. 😉
Great video and equipment
Loved the Used Gear video, especially that beautiful JRC receiver. Those were the days! And agree that the FT450D is still an excellent rig. Pity it had to cease production. Best regards to the M&S team de Victor G3JNB.
Glad you enjoyed the presentation Victor & thank you to your continued support of my Ham Radio store over the last 33 years. 73 de G4HKS
Would love to have that radio to start my collection I have been looking at older receivers I have a couple of yaesu transceivers and love the hobby .
I'd love to own that Hira!! What a beautiful piece of kit!
Great watch guys so many amazing radios there
Nice to see the boss on screen!
Great video, superb collection , keep it going guys. 👍
I love you guys and old gear.
Always good to see your video notifications arrive in my inbox :)
World not just famous but TOP HAM Store!
Enjoying show, thanks
cool gift, from ML&S.
Hey Martin, I had a clone of the Hira,it was amazing (all I could afford back in 1983) as luck would have it I lived about a mile from GB3MH (when it was in Malvern) so I could hear the local repeater along with the local police occasionally.
If I recall it was branded Icon, similar to a much more respectable radio manufacturer, I don’t suppose they were too happy about that. .
Thanks for reminding me of a time before my G1 license.
73 G1CBL
Glad you enjoyed the show Lee!! 73 de G4HKS
I got one of those Hiras (probably by another badge name), 83/84. Was my first multiband receiver ... good im old.... GM1COF
I also have/had one but the aerial snapped.
The Hira looks in fantastic condition!
THANK YOU
A blast from the past!
nice looking little radio
Love the Hira!
A wonderful old wireless. I had one when I was a kid.
Nice radio, I had the exact same model
thank you to you two gentlemens 73
That Hira is possibly the same receiver I had in the early to mid 80's. If I remember correctly it did hf, airband, 2m and 154mhz and we all know What you could pick up there. Anyway seeing that brought back memories. Talking about JRC's I bought a NRD545 and an AOR 5100 from Martin Lynch back in 2000' sadly they are gone now as trade ins. 😕 loved those two recievers. Also thanks I received the Morse paddle I bought today. Steve MM0SGQ
Note I am off to cut the grass now. No rain for the next five days so the forecast says.
Great knowledge on this site I want that old radio badly I've got a scanner
oh my that is a flash from the past
Nice radio love All CB airband plus amateur stuff
Great equipment for the experimenter
A total treasure trove you have there....will plan a visit for a look.
Looks like a great shop, I just wish it weren’t 5000 miles from my QTH. 73.
Thanks for the Video guys! Saving money to buy an Icom Dual Band Mobile Radio. 73, KM6EHD Jojo.
Thanks.
Just starting to get into radio and found your channel. Sub'd and looking forward to getting my HAM licence.
