Forced into exile on a deserted island? I'll take my Rundgren collection. Thank you Todd from a journeyman bad bass student, your music is different level to anyone else's
I really really admire this man.His lyrics are great, his melodies are great, his arrangements, songs in general, his guitar playing, his production work, his philosophy, and his personality and attitude and sheer versatility etc..
By this point in his career, his vocals were just amazing!! His voice had become so strong after years of live shows, all really coming together on healing and especially nearly human.
Aloha it’s me ... I’m in this Ocean City video ... wearing a black and white checkered shirt and beach blonde hair. Seeing this brings great memories. This show was special because todd played two utopia shows in a row, god I had a hangover b6 the end. No joke .. water from the waves was actually crashing into my feet standing in the front row. Ps. I also rushed the stage and got a todd pic. Best part was two mammoth size body guards rushing from the stage flanks. I dove into the crowd and was caught. Classic post punk effort. My best memory and Todd is godd
Glad to hear,,,.. obviously my friends in the UK have great taste in performing artists. I’ll always be a bit sad the American public has not forced todd into the hall of fame.
I’m 60 years old and although I have heard many of his songs, I didn’t know him, or follow him until recently. I love this man so much and the lyrics to his music, tells me he is from the future, a true light-worker. I’m desperate to see him in concert now! I know his heart. He’s an old soul, like me, and his contribution to this world is indeed much bigger than most have appreciated. I would love to meet him, and just feel his vibration. Lovely, creative man!
I'd say, its an honor not to be recognized by that house of morons Some artists are too good for the hall of flame. The RRHOF chooses popularity over talent. The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame is a tribute to the Record Companies, Promotors, & Lawyers. They elevated much mundane music into importance. That it exists today is a tribute to the power of marketing over inspiration. In 20 years it will be easy to see what artists had brains instead of beat boxes in their heads. Many of these hit makers will not be remembered. Todd will.
Yeah, well right Todd, you have given a lot of high energy performances and still do and I thank you for it, a voice of mindful compassion in our world.
Deep insightful and naked look into The Torture of One in a place of Lost. Yes, I've been there and struggle to free myself daily from slipping back. He verbalizes that which is difficult to wrap one's tentacles around and summarizes what all of us must do: "I know I must go on....sometimes you have to just spit in the devil's face". That is the only answer to being in That Place. One' must be brave and confront the demons and Live.
Does Anyone know Anyone who owns Todd Rundgren/ Utopia London 1975 I Believe the initiation Album had just come out. Luther Vandross was 1 of his backup Singers. this show was B'Cast on the FM Radio. I would pay for a Copy of that Show. Help Please........
John K it's a sequence from his documentary called The Ever Popular Tortured Artist Effect. This concert probably did happen, but since the whole documentary is a retrospective on his life, he's most likely playing his mid to late 70s self since the doc was from 1983.
My pleasure dear Dan.. also all the Toddie's will be happy to know where this was as I and you do.... Have a great week!! keep'em coming.. you're a real asset to Todd!! and us all who love him.. ♥ ♥ ♥ ;-)
Ah I could never forget you Dan.. This version of Real Man is my favorite one.. I posted it on facebook and wow! They all commented.. Thank you Harry Runt!! Thanks again.. I'm delighted that you're uploading TEPTAE.. Take care and be good! ♥♥♥ ;-D
Dan, I posted this on facebook and my friend Lee, who was at this concert 'Real Man' said that the time and place isn't on the DVD, as we know.. so he gave me the info: " Real Man was Recorded(Tapped) on August 6th, 1983 at Garden Pier and the Boardwalk, Atlantic City, New Jersey" Nice to know.. you might want to add it to the text below the video. Rose XO
Actually in the middle of a tour and todd was at the beach all day prior. At this point, todd just poured his heart out and tended to play well in philly and NJ near hone
Haha Dan.. you are loved on facebook by all the Todd fans.. you should know that!! Harry Runt is a celebrity on fb and yt, just like imharpo was.. ah, I miss him, really liked him a lot. Keep up the fab work, Dan.. ♥♥♥ backatcha!! ♫♪♫♪ ;-D
My little tale - Years ago, my Oal was a Limo Boy. He drove them all, Stones, all that. He explained how the Artist to to the Audience was the same as a man making love to a woman. I was 18, I stuck that boy in and pulled him out. No clue. The Artist needs us. That makes it sad.
Almost forgot to tell you.. Lee wasn't just there , he had a back stage pass invitation.. and was on the right of the stage.. he's wearing the red shirt and visor..I only saw a glimpse of him, the camera was all on Todd!! heehee
This interview segment is from The Tortured Artist Effect, broadcast in the early '80s, isn't it. The picture quality is better than I remember it as being at the time.
Yep... Famous for your Channel strictly Todd Utopia.. Todd Mania on the Friskbook Todd groups.. you ought to know that.. Every time you upload, it comes to my email and I post it on FB.. We all look forward to your Todd surprises. heehee XO ♥ ♥ ♥
a lost state of mind takes over and you continue on...... the writer takes over as the singer does... you are some one else ...... another take ing over your body ....... a possessed performer ......... out of body ..... baby ............ not thinking about you or who you are ......... looking for the words to describe how you feel....... singing like a robot .......... writing like one as well..... ..... losing yourself in what you say or do ......... especially if it is spontaneous ........ misspelling as well....and correcting .......as you go ....... losing yourself........ in the words ........ feeling .... seeing a vision.... dreaming about the words spoken...... and making them part of you at that mome nt... then you forgert and see later what you wrote and think oh my God.......deleat ....
This sounds like Toddy doing disco. Probably the drummer just back from a Club 18-30 holiday. Any ideas what that pink thing on the back of his head in the closing shot might be?
I'm a Star on FaceStuff???...I don't even have an account...I hope they are kind, since I can't defend myself...heh...♥♥♥ ♫♪♫♪...I don't think these notes are an accurate representation of "Real Man"...*chuckle*...Luv Ya Baby...
Todd's voice is super strong here. Excellent performance..so much so it seems cut right from the album. Would have loved seeing this one. But ridiculous editing during the performance and footage at the end is simply weak. This was around early 80s when Todd was getting heavy into video production...probably pre-MTV. But reminds me of Kate Bush...both artists are fantastic at mentally visualizing their musical compositions but when it comes to visualizing what they want down on video they fall apart. Ends up usually being pathetically melodramatic. If you've ever seen Kate Bush's The Red Shoes video footage you'll know what I mean...damn near laughable. You can throw Neil Young in with that group too...Frickin amazing writing, composing and performers but their video or film directing is deplorable.
I'm a musician. , maybe you are too This is not lip synced And it's not the studio recording of the song I've seen many Todd live show with quality as good
You gotta be kidding right? I saw him a couple weeks ago here in Melbourne Australia. That’s live in Atlantic City and a friend I know was there. It’s live, AND TODD IS NEVER LAME.
Forced into exile on a deserted island? I'll take my Rundgren collection. Thank you Todd from a journeyman bad bass student, your music is different level to anyone else's
I was there. 17 years old!
Saw Todd tonight in concert in Philly. In his second youth. Love you, Todd. Opened with real man
I friggin' love Todd! I met him once and he's the nicest guy.....a wizard and a true star.
I really really admire this man.His lyrics are great, his melodies are great, his arrangements, songs in general, his guitar playing, his production work, his philosophy, and his personality and attitude and sheer versatility
etc..
Well We could not have said it better
He has so much talent, the commercial world couldn't ever handle it. Thank God he goes by his own compass and never deviates!
Happy Birthday Todd!!! 6-22 1948...Sounding great at 76 yrs!!!
Im thinking this is the best live version of Real Man in existence
it isn't live....
A Wizard 🧙A True Star⭐️
a talented genius with unique producing skills
Love this video did you see when he.almost slipped on the stage 😅😊😊😊❤❤❤
By this point in his career, his vocals were just amazing!! His voice had become so strong after years of live shows, all really coming together on healing and especially nearly human.

I always love that crazy, happy shuffle dance. Just saw him in St. Louis, and even battling a cold he was magic.
Mmm...Todd
Saw him in Melbourne couple weeks ago and he did his Real Man dance/shuffle/skip!
@@pleiadian13 I saw him when he had the flu and he was still so wonderful.

Don't no in USA. But in UK most under rated recording artist song writer singer x all-round genius !!!
To Hell with the Brit's USA 🇺🇸 all the way
Glad to hear,,,.. obviously my friends in the UK have great taste in performing artists. I’ll always be a bit sad the American public has not forced todd into the hall of fame.

I feel exactly the same … there is something about him, something different, something special.. especially now ❤
Todd is definitely a real man
He's my real man since 1968
This was made by Todd ! He did it with like 40 hard drives in his Bearsville Studios .One of the 1st videos on MTV !
Thanks to R.H. and turning me on in late 80's via mix tapes (lol) titled aptly, "Todd, Todd and more Todd"
Created a super fan! 👍✌🎶
This man shows that popmusic is a real good thing !!!
He's an ET no one like him on this planet
Probably my favorite version of Real Man.

Fantatic singer songwriter
Yeah, well right Todd, you have given a lot of high energy performances and still do and I thank you for it, a voice of mindful compassion in our world.
He is over the moon!
I've seen Todd live and watched countless live recordings. Todd's backup musicians are always superlative and flawless.
Kazzy playing guitar is great ,he really is a great musician.
Always loved Todd doing the TODDY DANCE!
We always called it the Todd Shuffle. Saw him with Utopia last week and he doesn't do it anymore, even on Rock Love.
If this is the show from Atlantic City, I was yhere!
The spark of life. Here one day...gone the next. RIP Mary Harvey! 💓
This is great!! Todd absolutely hit his stride as a singer in the early 80s. A REAL Man!!
The Todd dance! Yeah baby!
Lol! Definitely! 💓

Love it!
Todd is in great voice here. I'm guessing that this was either at the beginning of a tour or a one off show. He sounds great.
Was thinking the same, his voice is so pure and strong here.
Actually in the middle of a tour and todd was at the beach all day prior. At this point, todd just poured his heart out and tended to play well in philly and NJ near hone

Is this show out some where on dvd at its entirety? That would be awesome.
Love Todd! What is the story about the back of his head looks bloody? Did he fall on stage?
Almost forgot to tell you.. Lee wasn't just there , he had a back stage pass invitation.. and was on the right of the stage.. he's wearing the red shirt and visor..I only saw a glimpse of him, the camera was all on Todd!! heehee
where is the rest of this footage ??????????
That's what I'm saying. I'd love to see the rest of the footage!
This interview segment is from The Tortured Artist Effect, broadcast in the early '80s, isn't it. The picture quality is better than I remember it as being at the time.
He has energy like Steve Walsh.
That's spooky, I was thinking the same thing. Wow! :)
why is this stage so tiny
Any more from this specific concert?
where is that last ten second bit from the end of the video from??
@Matt Saunders It's the punchline from An Elpee's Worth of Toons from the album Todd

Does anyone know the story about the bald spots on the back of his head ??? How bout it Harry ?
I thought it was a hair band. But he could have alopecia

Not a fan of silent videos played with an accompanying studio recording over them. Lame, imo.
