I rode my bicycle the length of your lovely country in 2009, and left my heart and soul there. I’ve missed it ever since. Your story didn’t help matters whatsoever. Well done, folks.
Excellent storytelling, actually something of the best I've seen. Very good balance between the more expedition-oriented stuff on one side, and the more personal thoughts and experiences on the other. A pleasure to watch!
Amazing how a 4wd and camp set up opens new worlds . I am taking 2023 off to explore NZ in my LandCruiser, and you've made me even more excited by watching this . 👍
I been doing it for 7 years we head south every February a lot of these places down there have big winds your better off taking out back seats and making a bed that way if it’s raining or windy as you just jump in the back and bed is ready none of us use roof tents or swags been there done that
Beautiful filming! I recognised some of the spots, like the Hakataramea Pass and Waimak Valley. This South Islander, stuck in Oz, just got a little more homesick.
Shouldn't think there's anything quite like it in the world stunning stuff, subscribed, bring it on ,lovely video thanks for sharing, from Steve near Chester England 🇬🇧 where the Roman's once lived.
This video put a big smile on my face! I very much enjoyed the slow pace and incredible scenery. Back in 2011, I had the luck to live and travel around New Zealand for 10 months. And despite exploring almost all corners of the country, I never knew that New Zealand was home to so many incredible offroad trails. I seriously cannot wait to come back and get out there to explore this amazing country once again.
Great video, well done on your mainland adventure, you did go to a few great tracks and places,But you have just scratched the surface, down here. Come see the rest sometime. 😎
beautiful documentary, realistic film of a wonderful weekend in nature. without loud music in your video so that you as a viewer are absorbed in the story, chapo 👍 Albert the netherlands 🇳🇱
Well done, that’s made bloody home sick further. Living in Aussie land. I travelled many of the spots growing up. Love to see your mud map. Top videography and photos also. Masterfully edited together.
Thanks so much for the kind feedback! We loved putting it together. I am hoping to put out a rough itinerary on my Instagram sometime this week. Already have some stuff in the works for a potential Australia trip!
Awesome video Joel, really well put together and edited. There was a lot of familiar territory which has made me more excited to get back out and see it again, this video is a great snapshot as to what our back yard looks like and how to go an see it up close. Thanks for sharing.
Hello. I'd just like to say that there's not a lot of times in my life when I have stopped to glance at the awe that is New Zealand. You have done this so much justice and I honestly think you have managed to capture a small essence of the not only the culture aka your group, but the very reason why we are the most amazing country. Amazing work I'm super impressed
A bit late to the party but congratulations on the engagement, I'll be 33 years in May and you bought a tear to my eye with your proposal. Finding the right person and living your best life together is unfathomabley good. It seems like you have a most excellent start
Great stuff. To answer your final question. A more detailed look. You did a brief scan. I suggest you dig deeper on each route, check those graves stones and see the stories of those before us. Why does this road exist, how was it made, when, who kept it going, which town did it go to, why is no one there now. The real stories are fascinating
Loved Nikita's reaction to the surprise proposal and hope she's all good now after the sting. Flawless production and storytelling!! Looking forward to see more - definitely have some new subs :)
I've never seen a better NZ 4wd drive video. Awesome. I'm just a little jealous of you. We live in a beautiful country, more people should get out and see it like you did. I'm slowly building my shorty Prado to do similar trips. Your video us inspiring. 👍👍
Stunning film with great story telling and cinematography. Def given me the boost to head out down south properly next time we're back in Aotearoa. For the dream!
I love how a mild gravel road seems a challenge to you guys. What I see as another day, is an adventure and the story you tell .. showing that adventure is bloody brilliant. I would hire you on the spot to tell our story if I could afford you. I'm glad you had a wicked time down south, its a beautiful place, one i probably take for granted. You are welcome back anytime and hell, even hit me up. More than happy to show you the rougher side. Although i don't think it will tell the romantic side of the south your story told but... I know a few spots. lets see what i can come up with.
If you're looking for some insight into the route we took, check out the map post on my Instagram.

Thanks Nick. There are so many stunning and very quiet parts of the South Island - we only scratched the surface really. West coast would be a dream!
