Turkish Ice Cream “Dondurma” With 3 Ingredients | Legendary Stretchy Texture
Вставка
- Опубліковано 13 чер 2024
- We are making Turkish ice cream. Its sweet, creamy, stretchy, and sticky texture makes it a popular street food of summer among Turks and tourists.
You must have seen The Fes-capped men wearing traditional robes entertain the buyer (and the crowd) with every sale if you came to Turkey.

Ingredients For Turkish Icecream:
1+1/2 liter of whole cow milk or mix of cow and goat
about 100-200ml heavy cream or kaymak
1+1/2 tsp sahlep powder
1 cup sugar
If you can’t find sahlep powder, you might try using corn or wheat starch but not sure how the texture would be.

I don't even care for ice cream but now have bought the salep to make it. This looks so delicious!
I hope you found the REAL and very rare Salep or Sahlab powder. Commercial Sahlab powder mix is just starch and lots of sugar - no orchid powder there. If it is listed as an ingredient in the Sahlab mix, there is no more than 1% Sahlab.
@@m.c.fromnyc2187 Yes, they're mostly corn starch. The real ones are costly. I heard that the Turkish government is trying to limit Salep's production because a lot is being exported outside the country, especially Germany.
Alhamdullah you speak english it's hard to find turkish talking in any other language - Thanks for the recipe
Already liked because.... Ice cream and pistachio ♥️❤️
So good!
Can you write the ingredient by english

You make it very easy to understand thanks 🙏
I tried it in Istambul, one more thing to love in that beautiful country! ❤️❤️
I was 9 years old when I visited Turkey. The chocolate ice cream there from the street vendors, restaurants, and so on, was the best ice cream I ever had. It was like eating a very rich chocolate cake. I wonder if this was what I was eating.
I am glad you had great memories of our ice cream. I don’t know if it’s the exact same but Turkish ice cream is denser than others and rich in taste coming from different milks and sahlep when it is used
@@TFT May I ask why you did not use Mastic as well in your ice cream?
MashaAllah I love it 🥰 May Allah reward you and bless you more sister ♥️💖💝💎and thank you for shearing 🥰

Where to buy Greek mastic? Are there any approved websites or applications?
@@user-yc3kx3em4w I buy from local importer but Amazon sells it.
I Buy only CHIOS (island) Mastih in large crystal drops. Don't buy powder.

Great tutorial! I would add some ground Miskeh (Mastika).
Super vlog 👍🇵🇱🇹🇷🥰🤗
😋👍👍👍👍👍very good
Original salep is on the verge of disappearing becouse the orchid wich it comes from is a wild species that can hardly be grown and now thanks to the excessive harvesting is going extinct. If I'm not mistaken it is now officially classified as an endangered species and foraging it in the wild is illegal.
Oh bless you, Ayşenur - so happy to finally have the dondurma recipe, best ice cream in the world! Question: After the evaporating process, how much milk is left, in other words, how concentrated is it? Have you ever tried using canned condensed milk or evaporated milk? Is the cream you use heavier than whipping cream we have in USA and Canada? (Like Devonshire clotted cream?) Now where to find the sahlep... and mulberries - my favourite dondurma flavour! 😀 Güle güle 🌷
Hi Susan! It should coat the back of the spoon. This is how I check it 😊 you can use heavy cream, I used home made kaymak. I have the recipe on my channel but it is made with fresh unpasteurized milk. Looks like from the comments that it’s hard to find sahlep powder. Maybe you can check online
@@TFT Thanks so much, the options in North America are limited for natural food as nature intended it, as you probably know. I am so tired of fruit and vegetables with no taste, because it is never picked when ripe, even the organic produce have no taste, too green. I miss the taste I remember from childhood, growing up in an area in South Africa, similar to Izmir area, with orchards and vineyards. 🌷
Wow
I love ice cream but don’t have it because of the ingredients and eggs but this one I will most definitely love to have
Great video. I'm bit upset bcuz Salep is not available in my country. I've been looking for it for many years. If only there is any substitute to Salep to make Donduruma, I would definitely make it.
I visited Turkey in last December but sadly couldn’t try this ice cream because most of the restaurants and ice cream parlors were closed. Anyway, great efforts sister. teşekkür ederim for sharing with us. ❤️
My pleasure. Hopefully next time
Eagerly waiting for the Turkish ice cream recipe 😊but how it becomes so stretchy..
that's the magic of the Saleb.. that other ice-cream around the world doesn't have it
Wow. Waiting ......
Hello...hope you are well. I follow your Turkish recipes and find it very interesting. In the video this ice cream looks interesting but in my country (India) we don't get Salep powder, is there any alternative ingredient I can use?
Good job
Very nice
love from Bangaldesh ❤️💙🇧🇩
THANK YOU I've wanted to make this for a long time I can get goat milk. Is the traditional ice cream sold on the streets made with goats milk?
Please give substitution of Salep.
As it is a bit expensive and im not able to finding it locally aur online.
As salaamu alaikum warahmatullahi Aysenur
I have a question
I bought salep powder ( i mean instant, i just need to add milk to it to make salep drink)
Can i use the same to make ice cream?
Hi, thanks for the recipe. How many cups of cream should we use? Thanks
Aysenur Altan 👍🇹🇷same with mr softee icecream. Awesome
Gostei 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Sister properly can substiute with arrow root power or flour its seem silimar texture
𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐭❤️ ❤️
Unfortunately, turkish salep powder is not available outside Turkey, as it is banned from export Due to over harvesting. You can only source the one used to make dondurma, turkish ice cream from inside Turkey
I didn’t know that 😊
You mean mass or bulk export not allowed right? But individual purchases for travel is fine?
As far as I know you can buy when you come here
I bought some from my local international shop in Hemel Hempstead
I just bought some on Amazon.
