Cheap adjustable upper control arms will move that rearend side to side for tire clearance, or just roll the lip like you said
Used to be the proud owner of a 72 with a 455 . Would haul much ass. Also black with stirrup shifter. Worked only for gas money.

Very cool, what do those rims weigh? I would try for a closer to 27.5” tall front and a 2” drop spindle so you don’t loose any front suspension travel

Those look like the Boyd Coddington rims I like. Everybody has ssr spike rim’s, and that’s probably why I will never own a set,hahahahaha. Great looking rims,they sure look good on the skylark. Kinda takes your eyes off the paint job, lol.

I’ve got a set of weld Ventura’s on my 72 el Camino with a Mickey Thompson et street tire in the same size 275/60/15 and 4.5 inch backspacing. They fit perfect.

I’m surprised that you’re going with an 8.8 on the 55 Chevy rather than a doing a 9”, that 55 ain’t going to be any carbon fiber dream. Even putting in the effort it’s still going to be kind of a heavy ass, & yeah 8.8’s are pretty tough just one of them safe than sorry things.
I know people mention this often but I’m still going to say something, times are changing & I get guys not getting into other guys shit is what it’s supposed to be but you seriously have an obligation to help your dad kick the f#ck’n butts bro. I used to smoke (20+ yrs)& chew (10+yrs) and yeah it sucked it was hard but so is working everyday to support your family. Nicotine lozenge is what help the most since I could put it in my lip like dip. Guys have a duty to lift each other up & watch out for each other, I respect ya but you’re dropping the ball on it, because if it ain’t fixed now there won’t be very many years of going to the track, building cars & watching kids get older!! My buddy John with the turbo Blazer has a basically stock 8.8 in that thing and its about the same weight as what I expect the 55 to be(roughly 3,500lbs), and he yanks the wheels and has been 5's/8's

FYI: They DO make the 15X10 ‘Sport Stars’ Jegs wheels in 0 offset/5.5” bs for Pop’s truck👌🏼 That’s the ONLY budget wheel they offer with enough bs for a lowered OBS truck 🫤
Also, instead of the puny 165/80s that aren’t load rated for a full size a 205/75 actually works perfect for front skinnies! Look at my truck with Toyo Extensas for reference…I saw 205/70s on a Malibu and then looked them up and saw the 205/75s (27” tall). I thought it’d be too much tire, but they’re perfect and only $100/piece!!
I do love that wheel design and wanted them for my OBS but they don’t make them in 0 offset (5.5” bs) for the 15X10s in 5X5 truck pattern, ONLY -25 offset (4.5”) bs 🙄 Told them they’re leaving ALOT of money on the table for the 88-up trucks!!

The wheel setup looks awesome since you went for the dragger setup and I thought it is gonna be a street car (preferably less dramatic staggering) however looks awesome still and if you truly want a badass look, lower the front and squat the rear... Better looks and u d solve any problem with rubbing on shock compression with the wheel tubs! Definitely would love seeing that thing with a turbo and please do something with the (beige) seats! Best and most loved car on your fleet, i basically only watch videos for this car, good work brother!
