I had a stylist that would treat my 4c hair like a type 2 or 3. My hair cannot be blow dried in 4 sections. It needs at least 6. I could feel her ripping through my hair with the dryer esp around my edges. Then when I jokingly said “sometimes I wanna perm my edges”, she said “ikr?”😩 I knew at that moment she wasn’t the stylist for me.

The dark semipermanent rinse makes hair look thicker because of the light and shadow principle. It also darkens any vellus or unpigmented hairs and swells the cuticle slightly since it stains it with the pigments it temporarily deposits. Demi permanents can do this too because they open the cuticle. Those annoying scammers have responded in my comments too trying to fool me with prizes. So annoying! Legit. My mum had to have half her thyroid removed many years ago, but they told her the rest of it was working just fine. She gained SO much weight very quickly, she had thin hair and her nails were like tissue paper thin 😔 They continued to insist she was fine.
She went to a different doctor (mind you, this was a few years later) - full on thyroid cancer 😒🤦🏼‍♀️ Her blood tests were “normal” but the symptoms and prior thyroid issues should have made them scan her thyroid to check. It was covered in little tumours.
Thank goodness she quickly she had the rest of it removed and after the shortest round of radiation you’ve ever seen, she made a full recovery ☺️👌🏻
Women are especially prone to being disbelieved by doctors, or “making minor things into a big deal” (ie. when we complain we are getting thinner hair/nails, they think we’re just complaining about a cosmetic issue 🙄🤦🏼‍♀️). Sometimes it’s medically connected and we need to be given the time of bloody day! 👏🏻

From my experience with textiles, I learned that dark dyes actually do add physical weight. If you buy a light colour yarn and a black yarn, same manufacturer, same type, you get more yardage in the light colour skein because they're sold by weight. Dark blue or black is always heavier. Don't know why but so it is.

My hair did the exact same thing, it's always been a little less dense in the front. But now even more so, when I got my trim a few days ago I told her health over length...cut what needs to be cut. I think part of my issue was stress from work and trim was long over due. I had a bad experience a few years ago with another stylist that said I only needed a half an inch cut. I went in with hair past my shoulders and left with it way above my shoulders. That created distrust and I was keeping the trims up myself for a good while, then fell off. So I know some of the thinning is split ends and breakage. I have a trustworthy person to get me back on track now.

There are no doctors you can trust. They're all pro big pharma and in it for the money, not to really help anyone. They're usually too lazy to be helpful at all. One has to help themselves. Educate yourself and go from there.

I just had to cut my daughter hair tonight. She didn't want it cut, because of length. Her hair is like the same length as Jay's hair. I cut as much as you cut here, and she was okay with it in the end. It moves so much better, and look healthier overall. I don't know why her hair is thinning. Her hair seem to not hold moisture well. I don't know why!!! I have to keep doing research and trying to find products that work for her. 🤷🏾‍♀️🙋🏾‍♀️
