Well Nathan, you’re too young for a gentleman to need a light like that that’s for us old guys😂. Thank you very much, sir for the video I appreciate it!!! And that is a beautiful daughter.
Ah yes. Your dad had the bright idea! That screen oughtta keep the nasty stuff away from your suction line! Dont wanna starve the pump! Every once in a while when running smaller sprinklers i pump out of a retention pond and it'll pull rocks in that get caught in the nozzles of the sprinklers and i'd have to shut it off and clean out the heads! just taking the nozzle out and running the pump for a minute to flush out all of the rocks or debris. I do have a screen on my suction hose, but these rocks are small and can get caught in the spreader or range nozzles of my impacts. Of course using the big guns they dont get clogged due to the big nozzles! Thanks for sharing! Your gun gets good range in that field! This is a hobby for me i've loved irrigation since i was little, I was born in 78 so as a kid i got to see a lot of the fast reverse nelson big guns running, those were my favorite!
TRUTH , I was sitting here mid comment "Get Mark to fab up a screen box for the pump head" , when you say he fixed you up.What would you do without him.
Cant wait for wheat harvest!! The swath of water looks so small moving across the field! We are getting a nice rain this morning across the whole state of Iowa, I pray it makes its way to the east!!
Hey Nathan, your idea of putting a screen upstream, blocking some more of that debris also, but your dad made a pretty cool diverter around the pipe, but if it starts acting up again I would put your 💡 idea to give it a try 🙂
...would be prolly good thing to put a 6 inch or so even just a small amount, DIVERTER up at the upstream dugout point, just to SHUVE the stuff a little THAT WAY JUST ENUF.... well even if it was screen it would get clogged up and then become a WALL in the water... soo too big of a wall will be issue too (was the point stuck in there somplace lol) but I also suggest SCREEN2.0 include a little thingie upstream ;)
The definition of what a river or creek is is VERY localized. When we were in Iowa, there was. River that I could walk across ( on stones) without getting my feet wer. If memory serves me correctly, it was 3 to 5 feet wide. Here in Charleston SC, there is a creek that ocean going pleasure boats can sail up.
Love the video! Why don't you make a screen box with some pipe and a mess or chicken wire dat is big and put your pipe in there. You have a big screen en easy te move.
Hey there Nathan and Brock, I hope this finds you all well? 🙏 Nathan, when I send you a link, information, or maybe a suggestion, I obviously have no idea what you have, or have not seen, heard, or know about, so when you're disgusted about something else, I don't think you should tell myself, or any other of your subscribers, "yeah, I know, don't send me any links" in a dismissive tone. I hope y'all have a good one! "Nothing Runs Like A Deere" 🦌 👍 🇺🇲
We made a basin (not sure what you call it...) in our river with a inlet pipe facing downstream so you don't get all the gras and whatnot in to the basin.
I'm sure you've already considered tying a float the end of the suction line that will leave the intake submerged enough to not cavitate, but keep it off the bottom?
Hi Nathan could you dam up the river/creek and make pond for the screen to sit in???....it might let the debris float over the top rather than floating close by the screen.....just an opinion from someone who knows nothing about any of this lol....keep the videos coming....cheers
Hey Nathan , enjoyed your video as usual. I would like to know the name of the artist and the music that you played during your drone footage. I really liked it. Good luck and hopefully you'll see rain soon.
have you ever priced how much it would be to run pipe underground out to the middle of the fields that are along the river??? ((if I win the lotto....)) just wondering :) even if it was 12 year ago priceing.... ballpark idea good enuf...
Could you place a block under the inlet so it sits above the creek bottom. Piece of tile. Or wire to a fence post. I had a similar thought as you dad uncle.
@@BorderViewFarms I would love a walk-thru of your tank+equipment trailer there. I am looking to get a traveler for next season and need some ideas for fertilizer application to go with it.
Have you ever taken a water sample out of that river/crick to see how much extra nitrogen, boron etc that you are adding? We have a well we pump from that supplies all the nitrogen we need just thru irrigation due to added nitrogen being pushed down thru the root zone and back into the water table.
I am Curious if you found that your bicarb levels from well water are hurting your yields. I am thinking of putting a well in but just heard from ExtremeAg that Kelly's well water was hurting his yields.
I forgot to mention my concerns about your fuel trailer growing legs and walking away in the we hours of the night. I would imagine it has to have some kinda security GPS tag built within but they're always that one person in every neighborhood that likes to lurk like a Ninja in the night.
@@BorderViewFarms Nothing a simple farm jack/bulldog jack couldn't handle. By the time you wake up. That gas trailer is crossing the Oklahoma state line.
@bfd1565 true but not being able to retract the leg would make it difficult to pull. I suppose if someone wants it bad enough it doesn't matter what I do.
@@BorderViewFarms You already retracted the leg when you leveled it out. Jack it up on a truck hitch and you'll have that minimum 4" clearance. I'm not sure what gauge thickness the trailer jack is but with today's new saw blades and cordless tools. So, would it be a safe assumption that all of the fields you farm, which have building sites on, are rented? I am assuming you guys woukd not sell a lot for a building site on fields you own, correct?
No, it's not safe to assume that. We have sold building sites off before, but most of the time, whoever is selling either keeps the house or sells them separately.
does your fancy dancy new head lamp have a USB CHARGER JACK on it to RECHARGE IT???? or does it use those little COIN 2025 or wutever BATTERIES?????? ....I have a HAT with lights on the bill, and one like that headlamp you have, that BOTH use the 2025 COIN BATTERIES and last about 4 hours... hat lasts longer with a ''navigate a trail kinda light'' NOT A FIND SOMETHING AMOUNT OF LIGHT... low lumins I am talk here... That was a great video man, the drone footand music you selected was awesome
I keep looking at those clouds and praying for rain for you guys.
I watched that line of rain slowly evaporate prior to reaching your farm yesterday.
Yep. Had a decent rain at our Berkey Fram though
We got 3 tenths down by Whitehouse yesterday. Take everything we can get. The rain came out of the north. Hopefully Berkey got some first.
Almost a half inch at Berkey!
Glad you finally got some rain. Hopefully you get more this week.

LOL thats what i was gonna say to build around the inlet for your pump just a cheap screen! nice that will work.

Nathan, I know where you can get one of those float river filters. It will require some midnight requisition?🙃🙃

WOW what a lovely and dreamy song for the drone footage.
Love the drone footage of the irrigation, why does it swing further on one side than the other?
Because I don't have it adjust quite right

raining here in Maine like a cow pissing on a flat rock!

I had a similar thought as you dad uncle.
Why don't you have pivots?
Knew someone originally from Arizona (Tucson?) who thought a river is usually a dry.
Is that trailer setup also for applying fertilizer? Is it also it's own generator?
Yes it does inject fertlizer and no there is a separate generator powering the pump
@@BorderViewFarms I would love a walk-thru of your tank+equipment trailer there. I am looking to get a traveler for next season and need some ideas for fertilizer application to go with it.

Is there more compaction on your irrigation field.
Just in the lane where I drive all the time
The reason I ask is,down here I’ve been told that in fall tillage is usually a gear lower. Under a pivot
Maybe have ur dad fix Murphy switch.
A river screen can operate in very shallow water. They claim as little as 4 inches. But I have no idea what they cost.
Interesting, how do they not suck air? I have to have more than a foot of water or it will form a whirlpool and start pulling in air.
@@BorderViewFarms They suck from the bottom of a pipe only.
Also, how many feet of pipe do you have? It doesn't seem that length is really causing a problem for you.
We have approximately 3,700 feet in 6" aluminum.
Nathan, why only rotate 190°? Why not 340° ish?
I don't have a good answer other than that's how I was told to do it. Further rotation would make my center path muddier though
@@BorderViewFarms ok. Thanks.

Not a chance. I've tried with a 3/4 ton truck before it it dosent work
