A 22 yo relative was riding his motorbike down to City Beach on the plank road in mid December 1946 when he ran off the road and was badly injured. He died later that day at RPH.
Also noticed the mens haircuts have come a full circle and how they were cut back then is now back in fashion now with the sides buzzed - such is fashion and who would have thought they set the trend way back then
Old mate of mine said his aunt brought 5 Acres at Scarborough everyone said she was nuts .was sand and wind he lived in first house on huntress Rd was all wood roads
MY Father Told me the Bichumen road stopped Where the Wembley Hotel is and that's where the Plank road started, The Wembley Hotel was new and was the first Pub in WA to have refrigerated beer taps in the Bar!
Notice at 9.47 on the beach they already had a tall watchtower structure for watching the swimmers and for sighting sharks - pretty cool for back then

Love this piece of WA history. Thank you so much for collating it. More WA history I say!
Love these videos of Perth. The photo of City beach groyne was amazing. I had no idea it was that old.
Finally the full story on the plank road sounds like alot of fun. It is a shame it couldn't be kept.👏
Very enjoyable, very nice to listen to folks memories! Thankyou...good to preserve these films.
