Behringer Neutron generative Krell-like patch tutorial

  • Note that since the Neutron does not have a voltage-controlled envelope it's not possible to recreate the classic Krell patch on it without using external hardware. This patch differs in not having random attack and release times.

    Yes this is extremely useful! Especially for people like me who don't know too much about modular. Thanks! :)

      You're welcome! Even if it doesn't sound very tonal, I hope by patching this you can get a feeling for what possibilities there are and how the sound is affected by making these connections

      Agreed. I have one on order, but I know next to nothing about modular synthesis. Looks like I can do this right outta the box. Can't wait to see how it pairs with my Mini Nova and pedalboard.

    just got one....😶 last week..so where to place it in the midi chain it's just doing my nut
    very small room and clutter of cables everywhere very haphazard and primitive
    and these cheap synths(crave, model d, ultranova, electribe, mpc and other) are very addictive so easy to get a great noise scape's from them all
    .
    and/but? there's a lot of information floating about on the inter web about midi
    and stuff but most often than not it will fly right over my head.
    and it's not perfect in anyway, my setup.
    but it works fine for me, it's a big open door the web you pick and chose
    most often there's always something free to be had
    ,
    (this video)
    always something new to learn.
    sets me to wondering whenever some kid gives me a hint
    on something or other.
    Yes it's turned into a nasty old hobby
    but the noise scape's are great
    really great. for just sitting and listening, they numb out the crap off this shitty
    life I exist in. very meditative semi trance moments are common
    to me
    one thing creates the other.
    just me in the dark and noises created and saved in cakewalk
    and 3 or four windows media player sound files looping against a very long cwalk file
    can't be beat just as good as anything no singing or drums just the synths.
    a none religious meditation nothing moment for an hour or so
    just swirls in my headphones
    .
    A feet on the desk eyes closed moment.
    brilliant. 👍😉😁😗😶
    PS
    nice video but haven't got round to patch-bay-ing as the terms are vague to me
    at the moment and i'm to lazy to study or figure the shit out
    it's on my to do list sometime, but not now.

  • @Antonio229

    Neutron is what Mother 32 should have been, especially when your paying $599 for that Moog sound. What is the Moog sound? The Neutron has more sonic features than the Mother 32 and so far based on the videos it sounds great. Hopefully i can get my hands on one sometime in the near future.

    Trying to recreate this amazing patch...when I connect LFo Uni - E.Gate 1 (the very first step you demonstrate) I get no sound...any idea why?? I bought my Neutron on Ebay and wonder if it needs to be restored to factory setting or something?

    • @hvrcat
      @hvrcat  4 роки тому +1

      Hey Nathan! It could be due to several settings - overdrive level and output volume, filter frequency, both ADSR envelope settings, possibly LFO rate and shape. Try copying the settings from the video and see if it works for you, As for the internal settings accessible via Sysex and the Neutron app, it is possible that the LFO depth is turned down so it's level is not high enough to trigger the gate, you could check that as well.

      Another machine as in a sequencer? If you follow the patching instructions the LFO should trigger the envelope and you should hear something

    Is Krell an artist, band or song?

    • @hvrcat
      @hvrcat  6 років тому +3

      Krell refers to a self-playing patch originally created by Todd Barton, here is a description with some links if you are interested: learningmodular.com/glossary/krell-patch/

      The Krell were an ancient civilisation who invented some sort of machine and they used to have these endless sounds going on while they were constructing it I think, some sort of weird and wonderful apparatus. If you look up about the Make Noise 0 Coast all will be revealed. Lots of tutorials and demos by M Noise on Krell stuff on y tube.

    • @hvrcat
      @hvrcat  2 роки тому

      Hi! Not sure what that could be, can you try copying the settings for the LFO and both ADSRs from the video? Also if you used the neutron app to set internal settings, try checking the LFO amplitude there.

  • @valdiskrebs566

    • @prema9878

      Valdis Krebs there should be a way to do that using a note quantizer module.

  • @texacomann

    This results in cat music. Can't See any use for this Patch. The neutron is such a nice synthesizer you should really learn to play melodies.

    • @hvrcat

      music is not just melodies!

    • @MrClarkio
      @MrClarkio 6 років тому

      Hmmm ok, so this video shows you how to randomize note length and note trigger, but you don't like the randomized pitch "cat noise". What to do? You sure this is the synth you're looking for?

    • @texacomann
      @texacomann 6 років тому +1

      MrClarkio okay, you want to show how to randomize pitch and lengh, if this is a tutorial, then I know what I should avoid. The neutron is a great synth, I have it at home. I mosttime play melodies or fast solos and seldom use a sequencer, this bores my after 4th repetition.
