Town Tetris! | River Towns (Town Builder Puzzle Game - Demo)

- River Towns is a town building puzzle game where we have to build up the town using buildings of various shapes, which means we have to slot the shapes together, a bit like town Tetris!
We venture through a barren land, but with the blessing of the Holy Eel (yes, really) upon us we're able to bring water back to the rivers! And with fresh water we can then build a town.
Each town piece is a different shape. Some are in straight lines, some are in a T shape, others are wiggly, others are in a gigantic L, that kind of thing. We have to do our best to fit them together as best we can because we get some lovely adjacency bonus points for matching adjacent sides, and we need points to earn stars!
We can also earn points by building across the river from other placed building tiles to produce a bridge, we can build on top of gold deposits, we can build around dead trees to bring them back to life, we can even restore an ancient temple!
Each building also belongs to a different type of district, so we have the nobles, the clergy and the freefolk, and we get even more points for the biggest area we're able to build for each district type.
NOTE: This is the demo version of the game.

In River Towns, you place differently shaped buildings and make them fit into a limited area. Combine unique districts into a vibrant living city and help restore our River Towns.
Puzzle a River Town
Each of the three districts has its own set of shapes which are shuffled randomly. This makes every game you play a new and unique puzzle to solve. The different district's unique and vibrant architecture combines into beautiful little towns along the river. As the town grows, more townspeople move in and bring life back into this old and broken world.
Earn Points
Buildings also belong to differently colored districts which score bonus points when connected into large clusters. Getting a good score on each level awards stars, which restores the world and also unlocks more levels.
Each Level is Different
The beginning of each town starts with you restoring this part of the dried up river and surrounding it with buildings. Throughout the game you encounter other objectives, such as gold to collect, trees to regrow and old monuments to rebuild. This turns the difficulty and possibility of collecting points completely upside down.
Progression
With every city you piece together, the world becomes a little more verdant. When you complete a level, you will receive a gold, silver or bronze marker, depending on your score. Once you have enough points, you can move on to the next world.
Features
Piece together beautiful towns along the river
Earn points in various ways
Enjoy many unique levels with ever-changing mechanics
Restore nature and rebuild the monuments of the old, broken world

"Trees are important now too."
I am the Penge. I speak for the trees! :P
I was never very good at Tetris... but it was fun watching you trying to fit the various pieces in.♥
I happened to notice. Trees are pieces you can build over. but they give a big bonus if you don't ruin them?
Indeed they do! This becomes a bit clearer later in the video.
Such a pretty startscreen. Settling in for some cosy contents, I think
It seems like maximizing bridges and minimizing space that doesn't give bridge or adjacent points while still reaching gold and surrounding trees.
Glad thay the orchard level revealed the trick for the "free folk" level.
I kinda feel your race to the trees and gold results in lots of odd empty spaces left behind which haunt you at then end
You're right on that one. I think it's more about economical placement and trying to utilize, fit as much as poss into the given area 🤔 like tetris 😉
All hail the Holy Eel!
...which is not what I expected to type in a comment today.
Hm. I suspect I'll get addicted to this game a bit. :D
It looks like it's using only the standard tetris blocks, with placement synergies (dorfromantik like) ... There's probably hotkeys for zooming in and out (try the usual) quite interesting, blending tetris shapes with a dorfromantik type of play 🤔
#1st 🙃 ... Loving the colors! 🤗
The freefolk level may require you to use all the pieces AND get all the trees to go green
(So yeah, he does cover that at the end)
Ahh noo a demo again :(
yeah, you might not get to see a full game/finished product, but at least it gives you an idea of whether you'd wanna drop some coin for it 🤔 and it doesn't cost Penge anything to give us a look (besides his time that is) ... I appreciate the look. cheers Penge 🤗
I know demos aren't to everyone's taste but the good thing is that they are free to play, so it doesn't cost me anything and also it doesn't cost other folks anything either. Times are tight so if people can play something for free to check it out before they invest their hard-earned cash into it then that's a good thing!
A boardgame called Citadel.
