Seasoned Professional Drivers At Risk of Inattentional Blindness | Safety Awareness Needed

A shocking traffic collision occurred in October 2023 that deserves serious attention. This video shows a pedestrian being struck down by a minibus, and which continues to drive forward for at least 7 metres (23 feet) running over and dragging the pedestrian along the ground.
A quick Google news search reveals similar incidents, with many fatalities, involving Hong Kong's public light buses (otherwise known as red and green minibuses). Some links below show just how frequent these news reports are.
These incidents should (but probably won't) sound alarm bells to the Transport Department and Hong Kong Government about the problem of ageing professional drivers (eg, drivers of public buses, minibuses and taxis, and even 7-seater van drivers). There are too many traffic collisions and incidents involving these professional drivers, which indicates there is something inherently wrong.
