well Done Pierre its how i do it when pressure fermenting , however you can save on co2 by making up another jumper lead (gas lead) from the gas out post of keg to gas post on your fermenter as the gas is pushing the beer into keg it then returns back to fermenter and goes around again.
you then only fill the pressure fermenter once with co2
now i can comment on ya cider as i never brew ciders as i am not a fan of cider .
but great video as always mate

Thanks Michael, I appreciate you advice it's important that we have new skills when brewing, I made a video on closed transferring using gravity to save on co2 a while back very informative.
I learnt that doing it that way can run a larger risk of contamination as you add another element to the transfer. Not a big risk but an added risk.
      Cheers, Pierre

How is the stainless fermenter holding up Pierre?🍻

Very well Birdy Bro, it's a small learning curve but very nice as a fermenter goes.

At what stage do you normally ad the flavour in the cider

G'day Philip Mark, As shown in the video I add the flavour when kegging. if you are bottling you need to move your brew into a secondary with your priming sugars and mix it in before bottling. The problem with this is the risk of contamination and oxygenating your beverage. If you mix it into the fermenter you can stir up and oxygenate the drink as well. Hope this helps.
      Pierre

Just a thought...how would it go as a sour using Philly Sour yeast i wonder?

Don't know, ..... It would be very different. As a sour in apple cider my bring out flavours of rotten apple, maybe.

Don’t you add the sweetener at the beginning of the brew

    • @jonathang.5092
      @jonathang.5092 Рік тому +1

No. It's called "back-sweetening" generally done after fermentation.

I’ve just watched him doing the pear cider he put the sweetener at the beginning of the brew confused lol😊

@Tucker Ha ha.. the stuff in the sachet is a non-fermentable artificial sweetener, so in all honesty it won't make a difference. It's just traditionally done afterwards. But it's not going to ruin your cider!

@@davidedwards6807 Your right about that, it has a different set of instructions for this one not sure why! but as a rule I follow what the instructions say. The artifitial sweetener has no affect on your finished product, I would say it's not important it's just flavouring.

Don't you add the sweetner with the yeast. Put a filter in between your jumper lead. Will change your world with that fermenter.

Yeah you can add it either way, I decided to add it with the flavouring, work just the same. As for filtering, it's not for me I find it removes some flavours I like in my drinks and a cloudy beverage for me is fine. Cheers
