My favorite Checkov gun was thematic, when Waymond wants to take Deidre cookies she likes n the "worst" universe (to Evelyn's consternation), and then later when we are in the movie star/kung fu master universe, Evelyn's master tells her "even a cookie can be kung fu" which comes full circle when Waymond tells Evelyn to be kind and she fights her way up the stairs with kindness-kung-fu instead of fighting, which her husband had been doing all along in his own little way. Serious tears.

Dang! How did I miss that! I'll have to go see it for the 7th time. I see something new every time I watch it

I realized since the Kung fu master had one of Waymonds cookies the way he got rich was probably starting a company to sell his cookies.

Waymond's character is the only one that doesn't change by the end of the movie. What did change was the way we looked at him. We wasn't a pathetic, weak man who cowtowed to his wife and his customers. He was a warrior of kindness.

I've been paying attention to movies for 60+ years and in production and concept this is the most astonishing work of film art I've seen this century. In the 20th century I was 'stunned' by films a few times but that always involved a giant screen immersion/experience.
I don't do that anymore. This was on a computer screen.
Lately I've become unhinged sentimentally so I was not surprised to weep on cue but more significantly and unusually at least 3 times I found myself grinning to myself because of what they were presenting and how they were presenting it.
There is no doubt in my mind that this was made by people who have been to the outer edges of psychedelia...and understood...and this is the best representation of 'it all' I've ever seen.

I just saw it yesterday and was totally blown away! Michelle Yeoh and the cast were superb. I laughed and cried and it was a roller coaster. Such a unique movie that everyone should see! It was INCREDIBLE. Also the Daniels was asked to direct Loki and they turned it down to this movie. They made the right decision

I've heard a few people on Twitter say they were bored by the movie and had to leave the theater. Bored is hardly the word I can think of describe this movie. And it made me think, why can't people see what most people see in a good movie. Is it lack of empathy? Or are they too logical? Why are some people blind to a piece of great filmmaking? That's what I am curious about some people and ask them often what don't you see in a movie that makes you think it's awful?

you really have to engage with this movie, its not just a light watch. you have to open up and let the movie effect you, and if you don’t, you’re not going to care about what happens to the characters or the plot. if you’re not really paying attention and giving it your all, you’re gonna be bored. (not saying you specifically just rhetorically)

I think those are what I call the "popcorn enthusiasts". They just want to watch some mindless popcorn flick and be done by the time their snack is done. Their minds aren't ready for good cinema, they just want the sugar rush.

@@denniszenanywhere I, too, was baffled by the negative responses. I took over 40 people spread out over 9 viewings and although the great majority were as blown away as I was there were a small handful that were honestly underwhelmed if not outright disturbed. I was heartbroken at first because some were ... ARE... are dear friends. One theory is that they have an impenetrable wall around a specific emotion or set of emotions (or all their emotions for a couple of them) which makes them blind to the rich emotional layer that is the foundation of this movie.
And when I finally came back to reality (ish) from the ethereal high that this movie has taken me, I had to realize the absolute necessity of the unimpressed, because there has to be Everyone if I'm buying in to a story called EEAAO. And do the work of finding compassion for however they were built to keep them from seeing what I see.
