I never have this problem. I have 500 hours on Brig, I usually play Brig in comp, but people still insist I play Mercy or Ana, of whom I have maybe a grand total of 20 hours combined and who I suck at.
@@zsm3985 My movement on Mercy is awkward. I have all the right settings, but it's like it won't pick up my button inputs and when it does, it glitches out and will fling me into the ground or I get caught on a wall. For the preferred heros idea, I would pick 3 heroes that I don't play so the enemy thinks I'm like a rein main then they pick orisa when I would pick like winston.
The support experience I feel as a Lifeweaver main is either 1 of 2 things. Pull ally at low hp and they get pissed off because they were about to kill the enemy, or don’t pull ally at low hp because they are fighting and they die and get pissy that you DIDN’T pull. It’s one of those things where you see an ally at low hp you pull and somehow it’s always your fault and you can never get it right even though they have 1 bar of hp
I've never got mad for not being pulled, only for being pulled, it has a long cool down, just use it in an emergency and look at what your teammate is doing before you pull
I mean kiriko doesn't even counter anti if you're a good enough ana player and get a little lucky. Suzu is on cool down a few seconds longer than anti, so if you use your anti nade and kiriko cleanses it you're guaranteed to get max value from your next nade if you use it straight away since she does get suzu back until the anti has almost expired anyways.

Hot take...the focus on turning this game into some hc competitive FPS was a mistake. The reason why OW was such a phenomenon early on was because it was a casual shooter that had different characters to fit every kind of FPS playstyle. Probably too late to reverse course now though as the casuals have been pushed away. Most casual players don't care about the top players and don't have any hopes of getting remotely that good. Just like dudes playing their in their local rec soccer leagues don't have any remote dreams of becoming the next Messi. They don't have the innate skills nor are willing to devote that much of their lives to doing that. They just play for some fun.
A solution to cards I never hear people talk about is cards resetting every 24 hours. If you go on a win streak you get all the benefits, if you get on a loss streak and put the game down you take the rank update overnight and then wake up the next day to a fresh start. I think that's a good compromise tbh
I’ve never had a private profile but I don’t understand why people feel the need to see each other’s profiles. It’s not like it actually helps anyone and your 100% lying if you say that you use it for coordinating. Edit: Even with Flats’ solution where he says “If you don’t want to put three, just put one.” that’s the same thing as just picking the hero you want.
Overwatch is my main game and I used to be a hardcore player, but I'm more of a casual player now BECAUSE of the card system. I have general anxiety when it comes to competing, and yes I would get anxious when queuing for comp games and ranking down, but I pushed through it so I could climb and say I was good at the game I loved. Not knowing where I am after one game would kill my drive to climb and all that was left was the anxiety. And even though I was actually climbing, I didn't feel satisfied because I wouldn't know until 5 wins. To me though, it wasn't just 5 wins. It could range from 6 (because I have never gone on a win streak higher than 3 in my comp games) to 15 games and not knowing when I would get my wins made me even more anxious. So I just quit comp entirely.
I was a rein only main and only did qp it was really the only way I had fun on the game. But I just couldn’t take the constant beating of just being counter picked every game. Like I absolutely love rein duals but doing them most of the time the other team will go like mei, bastion and zen and there goes my fun. Haven’t touched the game in months now but still watch you flats bc I like your content.
sorry to say but if you only want to play rein, then maybe OW isn't the game for you if you can't/won't swap. it's like playing cod and only wanting to run around with shotgun and then get mad when people destroy you with rifles because it's an open map with long lines of sight... i know its not the best comparison but you get my point
I played a game where I started as Doom and their tank started as Rein. I switched to Rein for the rein duel, and for some good old fashioned honor and glory. The second that one of their DPS's died, they switched to Bastion. If that's not the Overwatch experience, I don't know what is
I like the idea of setting your preferred character, but people will still find a way to complain about it and say something like “WHY ARE YOU NOT PLAYING YOUR MAIN???” As opposed to them only playing their fav and being yelled at for one tricking.
10:00 that is so true, no matter how much healing you gave to the tank, when you just look away for one second, instantly dead, not gonna blame the tank thou cause tank tanking, but still, that is actually really painful to just get exploded like in one second 😂 That is okie if everyone is okie, but if somebody just decide to scream and blame the support when we just keep heal botting sometimes especially when you in critical health, it's really painful :'3
Here's an interesting idea: would OW2 be better off if healing numbers were lowered, or if DPS numbers were lowered? *edit: I mean as a priority wise. Both are important and should be does together, but for a hypothetical sake, I ask which one should take priority.
You would have to do both. If damage got lowered and not healing, nothing would die. And if healing got lowered and not damage, everything would explode instantly.
Overall, you have to lower both for the game to function. But considering that the general way the game is headed is "everyone has to be able to 2 shot 200hp heros" I think DPS is the issue. Mainly, DPS on "support" heros. Ana was the first support (aside from Zen) that was capable of challenging a few DPS. She could 3 shot, but her shots take so much time that it wasn't an issue. Now you have Bap, Kiri, Illari etc who just dink you twice before you can blink and win the fight off it.
Change the way healing is done and lower damage. You could still have the same healing output, but if you spread it out (less instaheal, more healing over time) it would give people the chance to kill someone without support feeling like a losing battle. They also need to stop making DPS support. Illari feels like the dev team wanted to make a DPS but were locked into making a support because promises. We need more supports that support the team, not just DPS with afk healing.
2:29 no, I made a fresh account and I had karQ in my 2nd or 3rd ever game (I kinda forgot which one, but I got a video of it somewhere) Currently in the process of researching ranks further.
I’m Overwatch 1, the requirement to play Competitive mode was level 25, meaning that account had NEVER played competitive in Overwatch 1 if it was only level 15.
Fun story about private profiles: I had mine friends only because whatever. But when hero progression came out, i made it public because i wanted to show off the shiny new badges i was earning. It took only 48 hours (played both days) and i had nearly every other game i played where someone bitched about something on my profile ("dogshit cause you're [rank]", "my choice of heroes was shit", "peaked" cause i don't play that much comp, etc) Aaaand now it's back to private. 🤐 People being garbage humans is why private profiles exist.
i’ve said this before but i’ll say it again: as a casual who wants to grind to improve in comp, the card system is _literally_ the reason i don’t play it. it doesn’t feel good losing and then feeling like “welp, i’m screwed for the next 5 games at the *minimum*” but since i have nothing on the line, it’s much easier for me to just go back to qp than to keep playing on a losing card
7:29 a dps complaint that I was dying a lot once, the sups told him to shut the fuck up and do his job and kill people so that I could live and do my job... 😅
The only that needs a a set change for comp is the win loss system and a loss penalty fee if any player decides to rage quit, thats the annoying thing where you get a warning and have 2 min to play before they allow you to leave and regardless you'd still get a Loss.
Flats' private profile thing would work if it also showed stats for the three perferred heroes, and ofc have three slots for each role, so the team could see which hero theyre like. The best on, kinda??? And stuff like that
I was a public profile Chad for like 6 years until my friend noticed that the enemy team kept rolling out on rein counters every game when he played with me. He told me to go private and now I almost never see orisa lmao
Yeah I know that feeling relatively recently about people trying to lock you into one character. Like playing mercy so I do normally pick her but if my other support goes something like lucio I'll switch off but for a few games in a row when I tried switching because we would need more healing putting I just got the entire team shaking their heads no at me. And just putting mercy in the chat. Was kinda funny when a moira was trying to tell me no to switching when they hadn't manage to do any healing or damage in the game
so with the casual ranked system, the cards take ages to fill, especially if you queue all 3 like i tend to do, it will take an actual day or 2 to rank in just one role
12:36 Even without public profiles I still get targeted over my rank. I get called hard stuck and get told I should go back to quick play. I don't think private profiles have changed much either. Regardless of hours, you would still get shit for picking characters like Torb, Hanzo, and off tanks like hog and wrecking ball in OW1. It certainly matters less now that counter picking is so influential to the game.
As a casual player myself who’s played since 2017-2018 I only played rank 2 times and in overwatch 2 i only play ranked to troll with whacky picks like battle mercy or wingless pharah
6:45 i play casually and it’s annoying cus when I play tank I am like ight they have zen brig or Ana I can’t turn this corner reaper or genji I gona bubble you so u kill em and then with the charge I can help once zen is gone and my dps are like actually I gona shoot at the golden hores
11:18 Oh, casual players are staying in unranked. And the more sweaty the unrank will get, the less of us will stay in game. The amount of matches i had where we've been singlehandedly steamrolled by some moira on crack, while our tank has no idea how to use shield is kinda scary to me.
Also, without casuals you can't really have a game, so it's a balance act. And let's be honest, there are games that survive without comps. Make gameplay fun and you won't need it
Regarding the overwatch 1 border thing. Every 10 levels the border would look slightly diffrent then once you get over 100 you get a star untill you get 5 stars then you get a new colour.
I don’t get why Flats keeps saying Mercy is undoubtably the most popular hero in the game when Ana has the highest pick rate in ranked and competitive from T500-Silver.
I had a rein yesterday that I healed him to full for him to hit half health as soon as I reloaded so a naded for him to drop to crit. So I nanoed the tank with the nade boost to full for him to die 4 seconds later. We won that fight but idk how I'm suppose to keep him from dying. The best we are given as supports is keep the tank alive long enough for dps to kill everything.
Yeah whenever I looked for groups to play comp, they always forced me to play Rein on tank because it was my most played. Not because they wanted to do a brawl comp. Didn't want me swapping according to what we were facing neither.
6:32 Ah yes, the disgrace to Zen mains. However some of them grow into good Zen mains who are dealing decent damage, discord orb enemy DPS and tanks and heal everyone. And this who are not, stay in master

One game i picked Junkrat (my most played hero ever) and my teammate flamed me for not going Orisa because he only looked at my playtime for current season and not total playtime. I told him ive played Junkrat a 100 hours more than i played Orisa and he lost his shit
I never have this problem. I have 500 hours on Brig, I usually play Brig in comp, but people still insist I play Mercy or Ana, of whom I have maybe a grand total of 20 hours combined and who I suck at.
@@GummyDinosaursifyhow do you suck at mercy she has to be the second easiest hero in the game
@@zsm3985 probably bad at movement
@@zsm3985 My movement on Mercy is awkward. I have all the right settings, but it's like it won't pick up my button inputs and when it does, it glitches out and will fling me into the ground or I get caught on a wall. Apparently these are common Mercy bugs that I tend to just get a lot. Besides, there's no point in me boosting a Soldier who is missing 90% of their shots.
For the preferred heros idea, I would pick 3 heroes that I don't play so the enemy thinks I'm like a rein main then they pick orisa when I would pick like winston.
That guy in gm lobbies with 5 games played has a bugged account because he merged his console account to his pc account
ohh
The support experience I feel as a Lifeweaver main is either 1 of 2 things. Pull ally at low hp and they get pissed off because they were about to kill the enemy, or don’t pull ally at low hp because they are fighting and they die and get pissy that you DIDN’T pull. It’s one of those things where you see an ally at low hp you pull and somehow it’s always your fault and you can never get it right even though they have 1 bar of hp
Pull if they're in a 1v2 or more, because in 1v1 they'll live if you keep them up most of the time.
I've never got mad for not being pulled, only for being pulled, it has a long cool down, just use it in an emergency and look at what your teammate is doing before you pull
CALL ME VIAGRA BECAUSE IM KEEPING YOU UP BROTHER!! is gold
Lol, that last TikTok "Get rid of this shit, this thing is awful." Maybe Blizzard heard him?
Sudden tank explosion syndrome is real
Oh I'm 100% using the "CALL ME VIAGRA CAUSE I'M KEEPING YOU UP BROTHER" in my next support game
I love Flat's suggestion on those 3 prefered hero picks, that should come to bear.
sounds good but it wont fix any of the problems he mentioned like if its a mercy meta and you get 2 healers who dont play her its not gonna stop people from trying to bully them or just saying ggs and throwing meta slaves with stay that way
@@knightsky4438 but they will be bullied into that regardless of whether you can see their profile or not. He was suggesting preferred hero picks as a solution to the private profile problem. your example didn't go with your point. in fact is was an entirely different scenario than what flats had talked about.
@@mentarium yes they would get bullied regardless which is my point but if you think thats its a completely different scenerio then why did he bring up being bullied into playing a hero you dont play as an example like having preferred heroes will change it i dont know what you heard or read but its not about the scenerio its about how his idea wont change anything having to do with the examples and scenarios that he used LUL
@@knightsky4438 his point was for when you had a hero you don't play as your most played hero because you were filling or something for that season. you were talking about forcing people who didn't play mercy into playing mercy for the meta, not forcing someone to play their most played for the season even if they didn't want to. yelling at someone to play meta is way different than basing purely off profile.
@@mentarium oh yes bullying someone into playing a hero you don't play when they can see your hours is way different than bullying them into playing a hero they don't play just because now we can see what heroes they prefer LUL im stuck on the fact that you think those are so vastly different that you really repeated what he said like it automatically changes what I said which is that it won't change players from bully randos into playing heroes that you don't play with his master idea to reduce bullying LMAO
As soon as you see the bastion as a support you know you gotta look at the tank all the time.
The issue I can imagine with that is somebody going on a lose streak and just stopping exclusively to not eat the losses.
9:55 Chat guessing Tracer and Hanzo but you could hear and SEE the soldier shooting the Ana xd
I love tilted Flats yelling about how Tank is to play in OW
When someone says I can't talk about it now i'll get in trouble that's when you know they have sold out
I’ve never had a private profile but I don’t understand why people feel the need to see each other’s profiles. It’s not like it actually helps anyone and your 100% lying if you say that you use it for coordinating.
Edit: Even with Flats’ solution where he says “If you don’t want to put three, just put one.” that’s the same thing as just picking the hero you want.
If tanks die any faster they will need to increase the tick rate lol
If that's not the Overwatch experience, I don't know what is
I feel your pain, reins just get absolutely shafted by so many characters
When Flats was talking about Zenyatta players in masters…I feel called out. (Minus the focusing tank bit, I focus the squishies.)
No way Flats just referenced the José Mourinho meme 😂😂
I like the idea of setting your preferred character, but people will still find a way to complain about it and say something like “WHY ARE YOU NOT PLAYING YOUR MAIN???” As opposed to them only playing their fav and being yelled at for one tricking.
The other thing to mention is that account is open and I ain't never see new players open their account. That shit is always private
your one of my fav overwatch peeps flats i love your comments
10:00 that is so true, no matter how much healing you gave to the tank, when you just look away for one second, instantly dead, not gonna blame the tank thou cause tank tanking, but still, that is actually really painful to just get exploded like in one second 😂
That is okie if everyone is okie, but if somebody just decide to scream and blame the support when we just keep heal botting sometimes especially when you in critical health, it's really painful :'3
Here's an interesting idea: would OW2 be better off if healing numbers were lowered, or if DPS numbers were lowered?
*edit: I mean as a priority wise. Both are important and should be does together, but for a hypothetical sake, I ask which one should take priority.
I wanna hear flats answer on this fs
If the game got deleted and reworked because the fundamental design of the game is broken and unfunxgional as a competettive game.
3:23 we need an x men Phoenix skin for illari
12:20 when players say that, they usually mean teammates, not them necessarily.
I keep getting super low levels who go like 8-13 by the time I’m already at 20-5 (literally happened yesterday)
2:29 no, I made a fresh account and I had karQ in my 2nd or 3rd ever game (I kinda forgot which one, but I got a video of it somewhere)
Currently in the process of researching ranks further.
I can confirm for flats. I am gone from overwatch 2.
It took only 48 hours (played both days) and i had nearly every other game i played where someone bitched about something on my profile ("dogshit cause you're [rank]", "my choice of heroes was shit", "peaked" cause i don't play that much comp, etc)
Aaaand now it's back to private. 🤐 People being garbage humans is why private profiles exist.
As long as hard counters exist, overwatch will never be competitive.
7:41 me and my friends in any match lol
Ow 2 gotta be the planet fitness of fps games
I don't have anxiety about the number going up and down, I have anxiety about being put in a t500 lobby when I'm plat.
The real irony is that the 5 wins system means that anyone playing casually has the hardest time seeing a rank change…
me personally nobody's bullying me into playing someone i dont want to play
i’ve said this before but i’ll say it again:
as a casual who wants to grind to improve in comp, the card system is _literally_ the reason i don’t play it. it doesn’t feel good losing and then feeling like “welp, i’m screwed for the next 5 games at the *minimum*” but since i have nothing on the line, it’s much easier for me to just go back to qp than to keep playing on a losing card
More tiktoks to watch with Flats?? I love it, you love it? I love it.
best take at the end
7:29 a dps complaint that I was dying a lot once, the sups told him to shut the fuck up and do his job and kill people so that I could live and do my job... 😅
10:57 I stopped playing ranked as a casual player, I’m a workshop warrior
The only that needs a a set change for comp is the win loss system and a loss penalty fee if any player decides to rage quit, thats the annoying thing where you get a warning and have 2 min to play before they allow you to leave and regardless you'd still get a Loss.
I think the 5 placement matches should exist for placement at the start of the season but after then it should to a win, lose system
Flats' private profile thing would work if it also showed stats for the three perferred heroes, and ofc have three slots for each role, so the team could see which hero theyre like. The best on, kinda??? And stuff like that
Maybe you could like right click in the hero select screen on a hero to pick your preferred character
I was a public profile Chad for like 6 years until my friend noticed that the enemy team kept rolling out on rein counters every game when he played with me. He told me to go private and now I almost never see orisa lmao
blizz actually released stats saying ana is the most played hero
mercy do be second tho
11:10 As a former Overwatch 1 and Overwatch 2 Casual I can confirm I’d rather go blind playing Valorant than play OW2 nowadays
Fun fact: Ranked modes are expressly not for casual play, they're for competitive ranked play
4:55 i still don't see why she would be picked higher in plat than any other rank. the amount of people in your rank doesn't dictate the hero choices
Appreciate the fact flats ain't to into his own head that he can't admit being wrong, keep up the good work
That elo list was ass 😂
We need a skin for Ramm that gives him a Wizard Hat and Ideally a big white wizard beard.
I was never bullied into playing my top hero’s. I was like yea I can play em if u want me too.
I am the Reinhardt that turns Supports into Healers
Not the one in the tiktok, just in general
the ranked system was something else
so with the casual ranked system, the cards take ages to fill, especially if you queue all 3 like i tend to do, it will take an actual day or 2 to rank in just one role
I am stealing that Viagra joke
I haven’t played ranked since I went 5/2 and was moved back into Plat
I havnt heard about the dva death pack in a hot minute 😂
i keep rewatching his spectating series so i hear it a lot 😂
12:36 Even without public profiles I still get targeted over my rank. I get called hard stuck and get told I should go back to quick play. I don't think private profiles have changed much either. Regardless of hours, you would still get shit for picking characters like Torb, Hanzo, and off tanks like hog and wrecking ball in OW1. It certainly matters less now that counter picking is so influential to the game.
1:43 well, ya god tier players wanted shorter queues XD
*calling those unfortunate new players 'lambs' from now on
6:42 I go for whatever moves I’m unranked :)
As a casual player myself who’s played since 2017-2018 I only played rank 2 times and in overwatch 2 i only play ranked to troll with whacky picks like battle mercy or wingless pharah
taking out private profiles would be dumb because if ur a 1trick you would go into the first fight against 5 counters
6:45 i play casually and it’s annoying cus when I play tank I am like ight they have zen brig or Ana I can’t turn this corner reaper or genji I gona bubble you so u kill em and then with the charge I can help once zen is gone and my dps are like actually I gona shoot at the golden hores
Flats you said Brig ult would break the game not just be "good"
11:18 Oh, casual players are staying in unranked.
I'm a casual and I think I am more anxious with the current system than I ever was with the previous one lol
I don’t get why Flats keeps saying Mercy is undoubtably the most popular hero in the game when Ana has the highest pick rate in ranked and competitive from T500-Silver.
rule 34 duh
Bro, I haven't played a real ranked game since season 15. When my Friends finally started playing. And that was only for like a night or two
I had a rein yesterday that I healed him to full for him to hit half health as soon as I reloaded so a naded for him to drop to crit. So I nanoed the tank with the nade boost to full for him to die 4 seconds later. We won that fight but idk how I'm suppose to keep him from dying. The best we are given as supports is keep the tank alive long enough for dps to kill everything.
The higher you climb, the better the dps. The more value mercy brings with damage boost. Its literally that simple.
