The performance of J. Demus is reminiscent of Haydn and shines like a jewel. It's not often heard in the Beethoven music. Thank you for sharing, david!
1:07 the Right Hand plays the exact same notes as in Beethoven‘s later written 2nd Sonata in A-Major (4th movement). There it is placed in the left hand and located at the end of the exposition
As always, Demus gives a fine, nuanced interpretation of an inspired composition. This is a delightful and inherently lyrical Sonata which he plays with wondrous musicianship. Demus imbues it with a fascinating, almost undetectable rubato, so easily does it arise from the constantly changing dynamics. Beautiful. I like Beethoven's ornamentation throughout and the intricacy and grace with which it is played. Also, the staccato notes - nicely softened with pedal. Both enhance, without interrupting the natural flow of the musical lines. Ahhh. The Menuetto is enchanting. Lovely variations flow one into another; spiced with key change and, again, that lovely staccato. One of THE most beautiful Menuetts I've heard. Memorable. Sweetly playful Scherzando! One of Beethoven's signatures is his talent for key changes within a piece, temporary or not!! Thank you Messrs. Beethoven, Demus and Hertzberg! ❤🎹🎵
Warmherzige und lyrische Interpretation deses fein komponierten Klaviersonate im angemessenen Tempo mit klarem Anschlag und sorgfältig kontrollierter Dynamik. Echt verborgener Schatz!
@@davidhertzberg I can't play the piano that well, although I can advise you to hear any Beethoven sonata by Murray Perahia, he is a good example of excellent articulation

An amazing comment!
Pieces written by great composers when they were little are a huge inspiration to young composers like me... thank you so much for this video!❤
Ah--I was wondering why this Beethoven sounded like Mozart!
The performance of J. Demus is reminiscent of Haydn and shines like a jewel.

Allegro (0:07)
Menuetto - sostenuto (5:23)

Thank you !

Hmm . . . Beethoven apparently quotes Beethoven . . .
Thank you so much for this. Tobias Pfeiffer the first professor of the young Beethoven must be here present.

Remember he wrote this when he was 12
Хорошо и спокойно
4:37 is a great part
Just sounds Beethoven...

Wait wait wait---HEY! Is it just me or is, um, is Beethoven kinda doing, like, the Mozart-thing here?
Easy Beethoven, as in, not the Grosse Fuge?
"easy" hasta ahí nomás...
Warmherzige und lyrische Interpretation deses fein komponierten Klaviersonate im angemessenen Tempo mit klarem Anschlag und sorgfältig kontrollierter Dynamik. Echt verborgener Schatz!
Слишком лёгкий Бетховен, да ещё с повторами...
The articulation isn't clear....
Please post your performance so that we can hear how it should be played properly. Looking forward to it!
