Incidentally, the wombles was a stop-motion kids TV programme, that a nutter called Mike Batt wrote several songs about, and managed to get into the charts. He and some other nutters then dressed up as wombles and performed on "Top of the Pops" and other TV music programmes, somehow I don't think they'd have made it on MTV!
