“I hadn’t heard of Primus / Les Claypool before, but I think I’ll be checking them out after hearing them play today!” This phrase has been muttered literally tens of millions of times since the 1990’s. 😉 Once you hear him play you’re hooked for life!
He auditioned for Metallica (as he went to school with Kirk) after Cliff passed away. They told him he needs to do his own thing cos he's so freaking good! There is footage of him talking about it! Had the priviledge of seeing Primus a few years ago!
Glad he was "discarted" by metallica, otherwise that would have been a disaster for music. Same deal as with dave, but in the opposite direction, it would have been a crime if megadeth would've never existed. Destiny is good with us, the only pending is getting rid of metallica but that seems a disease hard to cure.
@@MetalMoose99 I’ve seen that footage! Great stuff. The quote I typed up was roughly what one of the sound guys had said during the documentary about the making of the music video “Winona’s Big Brown Beaver”. If you haven’t seen that it’s worth checking out as well.
Les Claypool and the Flying Frog Bridge are touring and playing Pink Floyd’s Animals album and Sean Lennon joined the Flying Frog Brigade I got a ticket 🎟🥳
Who has played a resonator bass? Who has slapped one? Only Mr. Claypool plays that monster without a single buzz...and makes it look so easy. That left hand will crush your spine if he gets hold of it.
I love this entire series of Claypool playing this kind of stuff. I always liked his tapping more than slapping. ....yeah, he mastered that as well, but I never fell for the slapping stuff, except for a few New Orleans funk players.
@@geronimomcclain9214, yes, it is... but it's tapping more than slapping. I specifically chose to not do the tired funkpunk slap thing in the 90s when so many guys did. I tapped and double tapped to every countrypunk song we played, but kept my thumb out of the foray. Left hand and fingertips.... (Claypool is genius, regardless).
Okay so I will do percussion and bass and rythm and you make random slide noises and I'll sing too - The guitartist did cut loose the jam but his mix was weak or the recording is off
Kehoe has always been a monster and MIRV is just an amazing band from SF/Berkeley/Oakland area... they were everywhere in the 1990's and you should check out everything and anything you can find of theirs. I auditioned for the band on drums but didn't get the gig... if I had just brought a 12 pack of beer I would probably have made it.
You might not care for their music, but they are anything but suck. I always hated the stupidity of anything "Southern Rock" (or southern, for that matter), but I don't say Lynyrd Skynyrd sucks, as much as they suck. ....I was never a Primus fan either, but Claypool is brilliant.
You mean because the audience had that one but not as dark/limey-peel forever....hmmm. exactly. Right in front of me the brown timmy smoked like 5 trumpets
This guy is like Midas, everything he touches turns to gold.
To all those in the crowd who's mind was melted witnessing this, we salute you. There were no survivors
This should be on tee shirt. however tee shirt slogan are lame
@@Christopher.Conville " tee shirt slogan are lame" would be an excellent tee shirt slogan
@@jamesha175wtf. No it wouldn't
It was legendary….Thankful to have witnessed

I've done a little stomping in Booneville myself back in the day
Such a hypnotic bassline
I'm 72. These guys would have been a hit in the 60's.
They were a hit in the 90s regardless!
Have a listen to The Claypool Lennon Dilerium

@@sethlogee harry waters too making it 3x more epic
I think Les Claypool laughs at our human notions of time and space.
Duo De Twang was a total masterpiece. Would love to see them perform this album. Only seen Primus 3 times, and of Fungi and Foe... Never enough.

You know if you see Les Claypool it's gonna be good!
Pure music.

Pretty sure there’s mixing lol
Maybe Amplified(!!) and Equalized, but didn't hear ANY crap..❤
It caught my attention cause I live in Booneville arkansas he's probably singing about Booneville somewhere else though
It caught my attention ' cause I spent the first eleven years of my life in Booneville, New York , but I know there's other Boonevilles !!!
Also a Booneville, Mo. but spelled without the e. So not our Booneville
I wonder which one he is singing about
Just a bass, guitar and a microphone. Thanks, men. 🎸🎤🎸
So tambourine he's tapping is a joke for you?
Gonna see primus for the first time this summer..I'm stoked!!!
Me too except 4 years later
❤ Slapping Bass is The Glue to This song..🎉
I wish they would bring this back, love this album
You know trouble is coming when both guys have hubcaps on their guitars
Les doesn't march to the beat of a different drummer. He taught the drummer how to march
Really wish I could have seen this live, they sound great omfg
I love Les.
I'm surprised so many people were standing around talking while Les Claypool was performing.
My buddy just saw flying frog brigade and he said everyone was chompin during the show.
They start moving so fast that the speed of the sound begins moving faster than the light of the video.
Thank you for the reference grade video and audio.
yep
Nice. One of my favorites.
I love it
The Residents as always sitting on Les' shoulders... nodding their big eyes...
You speak my language

I miss old natty distorted Primus
Those of y’all going on about no electrical equipment, he’s literally playing through an Ampeg Svt
Why does Les look like Johnny Depp in disguise
I'm from Booneville, KY. WHAT!!! Is that the Booneville he means??? I'm so confused!#$%%^ first time hearing this and I'm so wonderfully confused!!!
