    I use a pro NEC monitor and I use their own system. My printer is a Epson 3880 and my colors look very good after the first test run. I tend to adjust the brightness a bit on the second print. I find no matter what calibration system you use you are going to always tweak your print a bit before your final print.

    Just FYI- as I understand it, the main difference between the ColorMunki and i1 product lines is that i1 has a glass lens, while ColorMunki uses a plastic lens which will likely deteriorate over time and eventually yield inaccurate measurements.

    Does it matter if you have two displays? Would you follow the same process and would it match up both the monitors together?
    Thanks Mark, great video as always!

    Ideally yes, but most affordable LCD monitors (including laptop monitors) become really inconsistent when they're turned down that low. If you have a high-end Eizo, LaCie or something of that calibre (some NECs and Dells, for instance, live in that territory) go for it, but for consumer and laptop monitors 120 is a better compromise among brightness, straight-line gamma and consistent backlight across the screen. Your prints still won't disappoint.

    Mark;
    Have you set your paper profile inside Photoshop, & then checked to see with soft proofing what the results will look like? Also, don't forget to turn off or bypass the printer's profile in favor of the PS settings.

    Mark I really do enjoy your videos (tutorials). I do calibrate my monitor, but it gets a little confusing with the HP Software in synching in the correct .icc profile. Maybe you can address this question: Even after calibrating my monitor my prints turn out dull, dark and lifeless, but if I go into Photoshop and add a "Levels" correction (meaning taking the white slider and matching it up with the start of the peak), then my pictures better. Why am I having to do this?

      Check that when you're on battery power it is not automatically changing your screen brightness etc. Most have a "power saver" mode when on battery and it will change the screens settings. Don't know if this is the issue, but something worth looking at :)

    i don't like these color calibrating things, sure they help you once, but the rest is bullshit.
    for example they only let you calibrate 1 monitor (the "cheap" ones anyway) so you can't split the cost with a buddy and why in the world would you want to or need to recalibrate it ? i manually adjusted mine 3 years ago and guess what, the settings stayed the same !!!
    You must have a lot of free time Mark, to recalibrate your monitor every week and i' pretty sure you have more then 1 of them.
