- A brief history and review of the Mickey Boot. These are extreme military surplus winter boots which were developed during the Korean War and preceded the more popular white Bunny Boots. Both the black and white ones were worn in a 2014 Raf Simons runway show.
Wore Mickey Mouse boots when partipating in Team Spirit exercises back in the early to mid 1980's in South Korea. I was with the 25th ID out of Scofield Barracks, Hawaii.
Im in the rutland area, not sure where you are
been thinking about a pair for winter as well
thanks for the video
I got pretty lucky and scored a couple of the Korean war era boots in my size for $10 at a local surplus store
For someone who wears a US Size 10 or 43 in sneakers and other shoes .. would you recommend getting a 9R or 10R in these boots? I would wear these for fashion purposes not for the snow so id wear normal socks and put an insole in the shoe also if it doesn't have one
According to the instructions that come with the boots they recommend a half size down, but in my personal case i when a full size down (from 9N to 8R) and they fit well, they’re designed to be pretty roomy. But fair warning if you’re wearing this boots outside of cold weather conditions, they will get hot and they are heavy, so if you’re not already used to wearing boots it will be a very unpleasant experience
Hello, I use an EU 42, but I use an additional template from the podiatrist. I don't know if I should buy size 8r or 9r.
What is the difference between 8r and 8w cause I got the 8wide ones but I don’t get the difference
Do you think that these boots are good for day-to-day use, without having to use them only for the cold weather?
I haven’t given it a shot, but I imagine they would be horrible in any warm weather. No breathability whatsoever. It could be worth a shot, but I imagine they’d be uncomfortable.
Great video and very informative! I was looking for info about the sizing of these boots but to no avail.
Additional question, how big do you think the lower half of your pants has to be in order to cover them without it looking awkward? will regular fit jeans (Levi’s 501s for example) cover them well or do I need something more like a flare pant?
Levi's 501 are straight cut pants. You rather use a boot cut type of jeans. Or in cold weather ski-/snowboard pants.
I am wearing '90s Levis 501s in this video - I would say they fit over them pretty well
Hello i'm from France do you think i could wear these for like a daily use ? walking to school etc
Understood. But.... One more thing: do you have to use insoles? Or is your foot standing straight on the rubber inside of the boot?
Rubber on the inside! You can fill them up with water and dump it right out
I have had Mine For about 4 years now. I paid $70 US. The Reason I took the time to find them. Is because I couldn't find a Good winter boot For Work and winter Hunting. I have used many brands in the past for Work and spent many $$$$ on boots. Because Hands and Feet. You Just Spend the money for comfort. No One like Cold Feet or hands. After Years of many different boots in cold and extremely temps in the working Field. These beta Mickey Mouse boots are the bomb. Yes they R Heavy. But You Will Never Get cold feet with them. Just make sure to bring a change of socks. Due to sweating through the day. But other then that. I Will Be Buying another Pair. These R my Go two Boots when winter Hits. No Hands Down. Just a fyi.
Pulled guard duty for 4 hours at a time in South Korea wearing MM Boots in single digit weather & feet never got cold.
I don't rly understand ppl who use these heavy boots for fashion item. It's not even ventilated at all urgh
