While I appreciate Joe taking time to grind tape, the real reason we struggled is because I forgot to wear my Bills shirt. I vow to do better, starting with this coming Sunday.
Made me scratch my head when I saw it before the game. I hear they called everything as far as PIs went. Elam would have had a few if that was the case.
Better to have this game now and have time to make corrections than to have sailed into the playoffs and then meet a team ready to exploit our system. Hopefully Sean and Bobby can right the ship.
I am a Detroit Lions fan but wanted to let you know that I listened to your show and found it to be a breath of fresh air! Your show was well organized and insightful. The breakdown of the Bills/Rams game was detailed and informative. I wish we had such a valuable podcasts!
I was so wrong about Hollins going in to the season. I wanted to hate on the guy so bad. Hes done nothing but show he deserves to be out there week in and week out.
Exactly correct. I truly believe we got an early preview of the playoffs. Any reasonable Bills fan has this thought on their mind. It's pretty much what has happened repeatedly to the Bills come playoff time. Why should we expect anything different this year? Has McD learned how to manage a game? Has this Defense been able to stop or contain a quality offense in the playoffs? You think this dline, more specifically pass rush and rush D is good enough? You think the McD D scheme will step up in the playoffs? There's no way a reasonable fan can have confidence in the defense or this coaching staff. Truthfully, the path to advance to the super bowl is superman Allen. He's likely to get the Bills past the first round game. After that, it's going to be a slum path to get further. Allen can only do so much. I'd add that Allen has to play against the opposing team as well the Bills coaching staff; especially coach McD. He has to hope he doesn't blow it. I know McD is beloved by most fans. His regular season record is great. He's a great guy beyond football. In many ways he represents who Buffalo is. This often blinds fans from seeing, acknowledging, and criticizing his flaws. IMHO, his flaws are fatal to hoisting the Lombardi Trophy. Change is needed...
Didn’t think this vid would make me feel better about yesterday, but it did. Still pretty bummed though lol. Appreciate your analytical take on the game Joe
Love Joe's takes. However, Joe almost always takes a positive perspective when it comes to the Bills. Not a bad thing but he's definitely a half glass full guy. I'd pay close attention to when Joe says he has concerns about the defense. That's putting it mildly and with a lack of emphasis. I get why he chooses his words carefully. As for myself, I don't have to do that. With that said. This defense isn't good enough to make a super bowl run. It's fatally flawed. Anyone who thinks otherwise has its Bills blinders on. The D cannot generate a consistent and effective pass rush. The D cannot stop the run. The D cannot contain a balanced good offense. It's been a common theme for years now. The results are there to back up such claims. Look at the years of playoff losses (Three in a row at home by the way).
To have any chance against bills …. Opponents have to first, play error free … then play with such. High, extreme physical and emotional intensity…. And be just about perfect … that’s what the rams did …. Hats off to them …. And hats off to any team that can play that way …
EXACTLY. Bro, the Rams had an incredible gameplan, executed it to near perfection, with 2 of the best WRs catching DOTS from a future HOFer, and a freak blocked punt for a td, all to beat us by fucking TWO. If that's what it takes to beat us, I have a hard time believing another team can replicate this on us the rest of the season/playoffs. We have literal god himself at QB, remember that.
Great take. We needed more from defense undoubtedly but if you can’t also recognize the unreal caliber of offense the Rams played.. you’re probably too biased to be posting opinions.
This just isn't true. No team ever plays perfect. You think the Rams were happy with their defensive performance? The Bills are a very good team but they have a few serious flaws especially on defense. Mind you the defense is relatively healthy. So the injury excuse goes out the window here. The defense is soft and can be bullied up front. Leads to big runs and effective running by the opposition. 1he McD defensive scheme seemingly gets exposed on the playoffs. No disputing that. To think it's going to be different this year seems optimistic at best. The safety core is average at best. Lastly, the Bills pass rush is always a problem vs good teams. I can't remember when they have come up big in the playoffs. Maybe against a weakened depleted dolphin team. Stafford had all day to throw. He got whatever he wanted whenever he wanted. That's what good WBs do. The Rams WRs made great catches but the Bills CBs feel short. I couldn't help but think this game was a playoff preview of what's to come. Did anyone else 1thin1k that? Add injury to insult with the coaching staff blunders. McD just being McD. In the biggest moments the guys seemingly chokes one off. The Bills had no answers to stop the Rams offense. Sn offense that has struggled all year mind you. Lastly, take a look at who the Bills have beat this year? The teams pretty much stink with the exception of KC. I don't get too excited about that win because we all know what happens in the playoffs.1 So to imply a team has to be perfect is ridiculous. There's a clear blueprint on how to beat the Bills. Detroit has the weapons, the physicality, and a hard nosed coach. Don't be surprised if they score 60 on the Bills. The only way this team makes a deep run is by Josh wearing his cape. However, we've seen before the cape only goes so far. He needs help from his coaches, defense, and special teams. Allen areas of serious concern come playoff time. I've been advocating a coaching change after 13 seconds. What I've seen since then doesn't give me optimism that McD can lead this team to a super bowl. Failure after failure after failure with a generational QB. Another division title to hang. Fans is that enough? Enough to quench your thirst?
@ I am with you with the Defense … and I too wanted MCD and Frazier out ever since … …. But have to give it to Stafford and his extraordinary talented 2 WR’s … They went off … the blocked punt was the major difference in the score … if the bills would have won 45-44…. The defense talk would still be there … but smiles and glory praise for the O … And you as well …. I see passive D from MCD .. never agreed with it …. He had Williams Elam and bishop, all 3 should be in game … they are aggressive, and mcd likes more passive …. Let’s just hope the O can keep lighting it up…would like to see if any change happens with the lions … cause in past … the bad Play by the defense was always in playoffs. Never had another game after a disastrous D one … so let’s get back to this convo after the lion game … will be a huge huge telltale …
I love this channel. For some reason, there is this incredibly toxic group of bandwagoners who jump online and start demanding Sean McDermott be fired every time the Bills lose. It was a disappointing loss, yes, but it is the best type of loss that a good team could possibly have. The team played poorly and made costly mistakes everywhere. despite that, they still almost won, scoring 42 points in the process. Yes, Sean McDermott should have called the end of the game differently, but in his defense, the QB sneak works 99% of the time, and the game should never have come down to that. There are so many easily fixable things that went wrong in this loss that the coaching staff and players will be able to fix before the playoffs, not after. Furthermore, it reminds the team that they need to play sound, complimentary football if they want to win. My analysis is that if the offense played better sooner, which they would have a better shot at with Keon Coleman and Dalton Kincaid, the defense would have gotten a break to change their game plan up. They did a little bit at the end of the game, but didn't get many chances earlier on. Obviously the blocked punt doesn't happen 98% of the time, and the refs call the blatant Rams false start more often as well. Furthermore, the Rams showed up. They played a near perfect game, and still ALMOST lost to a Bills team that played poorly. Oh yeah, and the Bills are 10-3 with the division wrapped up. Thanks for not overreacting Joe, can always count on you to give an insightful analysis, not a bunch of hot takes.
The best type of loss when your defense gave a blueprint to the next 5 opponent offensive coordinators? Don’t be surprised when this team has an early playoff exit due to its defense.
Hey “Mr Blueprint”…it takes a super talented and efficient personnel to carry out your aforementioned blueprint, otherwise the Bills would have way more than 3 losses. Detroit is a team who can certainly replicate, so we see if your theory holds water. Name for me an AFC team outside of Baltimore that has the personnel to execute such an obvious way to beat the Bills…
@@Brianp150H The defense played poorly and the Rams played well. If the blueprint to beating the Bills is relying on them having a bad game, not getting off the field for long enough to make adjustments, and using a future all of fame QB and one of the best WR groups in the NFL to beat you, then sure, maybe the Bills will be in trouble. But guess what? The defense won't play poorly every game, and most teams don't have Stafford and company leading them. Most teams don't win a shootout with the Bills, as they either don't have the offense to keep up with or the defense to slow down Josh Allen, and the Bills defense usually comes to play. The offense has played poorly tons of times, but nobody suggests cutting Josh Allen because it is easy to see how amazing he is. Hell, even now people call him overrated. A defensive coach doesn't have the luxury of being flashy to win over all of the obtuse magpies which make up the NFL media and fanbase, so a bad game here and there leads to everyone freaking out calling for blood. McDermott is an amazing coach whose team had a bad day. They'll change things up and work to fix it.
7:15 Gosh I wish I could visualize the motion technique . I spent a lot of money to see the Bills play at Sofi and knew the defense had issues. I googled Bill’s defense reviews and found your podcast.
A lot of self proclaimed general managers have said for years that buffalo needs to invest all its draft capital on the offense. Hopefully after yesterday people will see the value of defense.
But they didn't invest the draft capital into offense, it was defense, especially the dL who has tons or picks & $ invested & they're why this team always falls short & will be the reason yet again this year..
That happens anyway with this Bills defense. It literally doesn’t matter how much they invest in the defense this will always happen. I think this proves why they should invest more in the offense lol. Score 45 when they score 44
@jcZo23 there is no way you think that more offensive weapons fixes yesterday. I could write paragraphs about how wrong that is, but I'll give you just 1. Time of possession. Offense can't help you there, and especially in the first half we got owned
@sprawlz6466 I very much agree with joe. An improved pass rush would dramatically improve this defense. Pass rushers get defenses off the field. Unfortunately drafting is far from a perfect science and it's hard to hit on that position outside the top 10/15
The only thing that made me sick to this game was how eerily similar it was to the Cincinnati playoff game and the other two times they played the Bengals and how Burrow diced them to death because he was never touched. If the Bills dont get it done this year, they have to really look at getting bigger defensive players.
I'm feeling surprisingly optimistic coming out of this loss. Yes our pass rush allowed Stafford too much time to develop plays, but we have to realize just how insane a game the Rams played against us. Not to mention, all of the ridiculous catches Puka and Cupp made. If it takes a near perfect offensive execution, a rare blocked punt for a TD, and some spectacular catches by one of if, if not, the best wr duo in the league to win by TWO, I think we're gonna be just fine.
I do wonder too if our d-line is just average. Do we really want to extend roussou? Id rather resign cooper and cook to keep this offense in tact and draft heavy on the defense.
I think Cook will be priced too high for what he is with a limited skill set. He can’t be trusted to pass block, his hands are suspect at best which was supposed to be one of his biggest strengths, and Ray Davis is way more physical.
You could have made the same argument with ed Oliver a year ago and look how that has turned out. I don’t think you pay any of these useless bums that do not already have contracts
Rams had 42 carries, 10 of them were for 0 or negative yardage. Longest run of the day was 12-yards. Stafford only threw 30 times to hit 320 for the day. 79% of that yardage was Nucua and Kupp.
I always appreciate your takes Joe. I have to say I used to be a fan that would make up some narrative after a loss or place blame on certain players and or coaches. I’m happy to say that I’ve been watching your daily pods on UA-cam from the start and I feel like I have a much more abundant understanding of the complete workings of our team and football in general. Thank you very much much for that. I feel I can watch a game and accept a win or loss now because I understand what truly happened. It’s always much appreciated 👏🏼
Its quite obvious by now that when time is running out in a big game the Bills woeful defense and terrible coaching decisions will turn the tide to ensure the other teams victory.
Thank God we have Josh Allen to make the games enjoyable. No doubt our d line is sub par. The game in Detroit will tell us everything about this team. I think the Bills suffered from a hang over from the 49rs game and a long trip out west.
Billls defense haven't face a high powered since the Ravens...rams was the best offense they'll face this year the way they played but it is concerning facing the lions another high powered offense
13-4....2 seed...Denver at home? 🤷♂️ Guess I'd take it...But boy the Bills are wasting the best of Josh. McD still make bonehead decisions and the D habitually underperforms against top flight offensive talent
McDermott made calls that could have worked out I don’t fault him for lack of execution by players. I think the issue is that there is not a Josh Allen of the defense to elevate the rest of the players, it’s too bad that in 7 years we have not been able to draft/trade/poach a top end defensive lineman at any position. The situation is a direct result of Von Miller getting hurt and not being the player they gambled on.
Have to hand it to Stafford He’s a fiery tough smart accurate competitor, 16 years in NFL. I always thought of him as one of the best in the NFL… When he’s hot .. he’s another Allen and can beat anyone …and any defense He just had a more efficient game than Allen yesterday ..and just shy of perfect . As Joe Marino perfectly stated -- It took an exceptional performance from Matthew Stafford, Sean McVay, Puca Nacua, and Cooper Kupp, plus a blocked punt for a touchdown, for the Rams to win by two.
Whoa whoa whoa hold on do we have a defensive Guru as a defensive coach.... We shouldn't be having this problem... Even though we have a young defensive coordinator... He's learning from a Guru... What happened ?
I would like to know what his EPA was with straight non delayed 5 man pressure, again if nothing else works.. make sure the QB gets hit LEGALLY, but make sure he gets HIT ... zone or man
I have a hard time caring about what Allen did in a loss, I already know he’s the best qb in the league but I like him more when his numbers are pedestrian and we win
Of course Stanford had such a great game. Almost any QB would have had a great game with how crappy the defense was. He had guys wide open consistently, and never once was there any real pressure. I’m not really into the excuses the media, including Joe keeps giving. I’ll answer his questions he gave. Is this a repeatable performance against the Bills? Uhh yeah, of course it is. Let’s not forget about the Ravens game. Or games from past years like the Vikings, Eagles, and 13 seconds game. So yeah it can definitely be repeated because THIS game was a repeat of what we’ve seen before. Can a team get a punt block again? Uhh yeah of course they can, or we forgetting that the special teams is almost the same exact one that had the same result last year against the Broncos. Sam Martin had had 4 blocked punts in his career. You seem to be missing everyone’s point, and why so many of us don’t like McDermott AT THIS POINT IN HIS CAREER. These aren’t “one offs” like it’s being sold here, but even if it is, you fail to understand it only takes ONE GAME like this in the playoffs to be out. It only takes ONE SINGLE GAME in the playoffs where Babich and the defense doesn’t even try to be out of it. You seem to ignore the playoffs are SINGLE ELIMINATION. I guess that’s where me and the media (and I’m including Joe) differ, the goal to me is to win a superbowl, not to just make the playoffs, have the defense not show up, have McDermott make the same dumb decisions he always makes, and to lose in the 2nd round… again. I’m just confused man. The best indicator of the future is the past. Yet so many let fandom get in the way of that. We have seen this crap before, it’s not new, so don’t act like it is. I’m not happy about this, I can NEVER feel good about this, because until it doesn’t happen for at least a single season the team has no chance of winning a superbowl, which again is the actual goal. Just go back and listen to your own words man, after your “glass half full” stuff. You know there’s major concerns. You know that guys like Greg Rousseau don’t show up in big games. You know Ed Oliver has been terrible this year, and even when he’s been good, he’s never been good in the playoffs. Also Joe let me ask you a few questions. You talk about the Rams script not being repeatable. How many times do you think Josh Allen can repeat that game? 4 times in a row? No, of course not, you know that. Let’s not act like the Bills won’t be on the road in the playoffs against teams just as capable as the rams. Against teams with winning records this year the Bills are 1-3. With the one win coming against the Chiefs, which is a game they ALWAYS WIN, 4 straight years. As far as I’m concerned you’re guaranteeing a Superbowl. If not, then you should be way more concerned. I get anything can happen, and I’ll be so happy if they finally win a superbowl. But I can’t just ignore the actual facts and data like you can Joe. I can’t just ignore that the Special Teams has been garbage for years, and loses games way too often. I can’t ignore that McDermott can’t handle the pressure of a high scoring shoot out, like you can. Seriously he’s NEVER won a single game when it’s a shootout the goes for over 30 points. And what, that’s just not going to happen in the playoffs? Get real. And look, I get it, the team can learn from this, and hopefully they get better. But there’s no actual evidence AT ALL, that will actually happen. There is however an over abundance of evidence it will happen again, in the playoffs. And ultimately the reason I hate this game so much isn’t because of the defense, I’m with you on the that being an abnormality. My real issue is 3 things. And these are 3 things that have been consistent problems with McDermott as head Coach. And I’ll put them in order of least importance. 1 (least importance) the special teams is still really REALLY bad. 2.) there’s still no pass rush, and the D-Line is still massively underachieving. And 3, and thus is what hurts the most, and is my biggest fear, BY FAR, McDermott failing to learn from his game management blunders. They just keep happening. I can’t handle the other 2, teams have won superbowls with sub-par special teams and D-lines. But a team can NOT win a superbowl when the coach makes such dumb decisions. And he NEVER learns.
There is no positive spin, the defense is bad. No pass rush, the secondary did not cover there zones, the LBs did not cover there zones, we really only have one safety on the field and Rapp can’t do it all
McDermott philosophy on defense has proven year after year that it is not good enough! But he sticks to it! Sorry but this is unacceptable. Small weak defensive line is blown off by opponents. Ends that can't get to a pocket qb is painful to watch. CB getting torched by receivers. Missed tackles. If Buffalo can't at the very least get to AFC Championship it's time for a different coaching style. Close isn't good enough for this fan base
I understand what you mean about the Dlineman, outside of Rousseau. He's still young with a lot of upside. He's a high character guy too. I hope we lock him up for the long term. If we don't, someone else will.
Joe do you notice specifically how far von miller rushes up field almost every pass rush play. Specifically the rams game he rushed so far up field and created a lane for stafford to step and hit a wide open WR siting in a zone pocket. They have been doing this for years , but did such a good job vs the chiefs. You notice this too ?
Regardless of the 3 ypc, running 42 times was to control the clock. Much like the Bills did to KC, they ate the clock almost knowing a long 3rd down was convertable.
One day the Bills will let Josh Allen go so he can win the super bowl be deserves. It will be just like Mathew Stafford leaving Detroit. Unserious organization that refuses to make the tough decisions to win. McDermott will not win a super bowl in Buffalo. After 7 years it's crazy to think that can still change. Allen would make Nathan Hackett look good just like he made Ken dorsey look good and how he makes McDermott look good.... it's going to be incredible when Allen's career is over and buffalo still hasn't won a super bowl.
It’s time for Williams, Elam and Bishop…can’t be any worse than what is playing now … when u want to go man … why is Elam not activated … MCD what are you waiting for We don’t need old man Hyde …to make things worse
Good breakdown, I feel a little better, but Detroit, I hope we have some weapons back - Kincaid and Coleman - Wow never thought I would hear Von Miller was the best D player on the field this year. Go Bills.
Good morning Joe, do you think there is anything to say about the sleepy start possibly coming from the time zone travel? At the beginning of the game I thought it looked a lot like the jaguars game in London.
Beane needs to draft dogs mean players screw ur culture and ur culture guys we need players on D that don’t care about hanging out with the team but will show up and make big ass plays
You do a great job explaining your thoughts just from the TV coverage. It seemed like a lot of passing interference calls in particular against my team were extremely tiki attack like you told every down if you wanted to in every game across the league so you had a crew that was not very goodand of course they miss some obvious penalties and some crucial downs against the other team so just throw that on top of the other pile of misplays and screw ups, Anyone who thinks Milano was gonna be back a game and a half or two games in is clueless. The beauty is he has more than a couple games.. Lastly I think I had a little bit of a pressure is of won the division hangover a letdown of sorts the emotional win last week. I’m not overly concerned but like you said on that d line who is gonna make plays
As for the Lions next week just remember we were supposed to beat the lions by a greater margin than our game against the lions looks competitive. So we play em all and see.
You finally said what needed to be proclaimed. Their defense is average at best, local media loves Rousseau, but he disappears in biggest moments, ditto for Oliver. Epenesa has always been a disappointment, Jones is ok but aging, secondary is so so overall. Milano is maybe their best player on defense, but he is behind at the moment.
Guys (and gals) there is absolutely no reason to get down about this loss. This Rams team won a Super Bowl just a couple years ago. Dare say they’re better offensively than they were in ‘22! Now obviously they no longer have a (younger) Von Miller, Aaron Donald, Bobby Wagner or Jalen Ramsey on defense…so there is that. Point being - better to shit the bed defensively now than in the divisional round….
Assessment is spot on yet again. Not the time to overreact, I'd take where the Bills are at as the 2 seed over any other afc franchise not named the chiefs. Stay down, work hard, fix the shit that went wrong and go again. Life is too short to throw toys out the pram
There reasons relate to their lack of planning PARTICULARLY on the DEFENSE. This "one trick poney" plan and desperately attempt to change in the second half AND expecting Allen and the OFFENSE to win is a direct reflection new coaching from the top down is necessary. There will always be a "NEXT YEAR" mentality until the fans stand up to the owners. THEY DEMANDED a new stadium in Orchard Park, they demanded 20,000 less seats for the fans, and more luxury boxes.. Bills fans have to wake up... If they don't, then don't expect a Superbowl game..
No one in their right mind can honestly say they are confident in McDermott winning a Super Bowl after continuously watching his gaffes in crunch moments.
I don’t know why but everytime I hear “sub stack” it’s like nails on a chalkboard. Maybe I don’t understand it.but just say become a member. Or become a subscriber
No panic in a loss. Having a bad game happens to everyone in the NFL. My only concern once again is McDermott utterly awful decision making once again.
Joe, Idc at all how great you think has been Matt Stafford is. There is no excuse for receivers to have four yard gaps around them and the coverage. Our secondary looked horrible
Yea, that's simply not true. Plenty of tight window throw completions. I explained how the underneath coverage was often sucked into the run fit on fakes. Stafford was dealing.
Looked true to me and Tom Brady. Looked like they were making completions in the soft spots of the zone while the coverage either over ran the receiver or was a two steps behind. I’m not claiming Stafford made no tight window throws but I think he is being given too much credit for failed zone coverage. Additionally it looked to me like he was getting the ball out so fast I’m not sure a pass rush would have made much difference
Great synopsys - I wonder if the Chiefs, Steelers, Ravens OC watch this tape and incorporate many of the run/pass designs when any of them face the Bills in the playoffs. All three teams have future HOF QBs who may not have the arm talent as Stafford, but can be special in their own unique ways. The Bills dline and linebackers can be had. The Rams designed the blueprint. I'm confident the Bills offense can get even better with the additions of Kincaid and Coleman, but the Bills defense has cost us in the playoffs in the past and Sunday reminded me that if we lose, it will be because our defense is taken advantage of. If we win, it will be because the defense stops the run, pressures the QB and causes turnovers. We'll see. Reminderr - the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. We've witnessed this movie before......

This often blinds fans from seeing, acknowledging, and criticizing his flaws. IMHO, his flaws are fatal to hoisting the Lombardi Trophy. Change is needed...
I tried saying the same thing in the comments and got bashed for it. Objectively this has been the bugaboo for how they exit playoff runs. Every playoff team can execute at a high level on offense and this staff has shown they can’t do enough to stop them. Blame injuries or being flat or anything else (fyi the Bengals had 3 oline injured in that game). They’ve had numerous chances to get it right. They are not affecting the QB enough and can’t stop the run consistently. Period.
100% spot on. So many Bills fans aren't open minded enough to accept criticism of the players, coaches, and management. It's almost as if you aren't a Bills fan if you criticize or are skeptical. That's just total BS. I've been advocating the firing of McD right after 13 seconds. He's had two more shots at the super bowl. Results were two home playoff losses. This team can't even sniff an AFC conference championship game. Yet, fans remain enamored with McD. I get it 5 straight division titles and a great guy. It's better than the past. I totally get it. However, it's not enough for this Bills fan. The Bills have arguably the best QB in the league. A generational QB who hasn't smelled, kissed, or hoisted a Lombardi Trophy. Why? Why? Why? What makes you think things are going to be different under McD? Blind optimism doesn't cut it.
While I appreciate Joe taking time to grind tape, the real reason we struggled is because I forgot to wear my Bills shirt. I vow to do better, starting with this coming Sunday.
I forgive you... this time
You gotta do better bro
I was unable to watch this game. I thought that was a bad omen before the game.
I b feeling like it’s my fault too g😞
You could have saved me so much time!!!!
Becoming a big Hollins fan. This guy routinely does yeoman's work and chips in with key receptions. He is turning out to be a good , efficient signing
Want him back next year we is a great 4th option he just needs more touches
Hollins > Samuel
One of the few buffalo bills channels I watch because it has substance
I think we could used Elam this game.. super good man defender and always making plays on the ball... Having him inactive makes me scratch my head
Made me scratch my head when I saw it before the game. I hear they called everything as far as PIs went. Elam would have had a few if that was the case.
I've been saying this for a while!!
Elam was a terrible pick for a McD scheme. However, they hit a home run with Benford.
Better to have this game now and have time to make corrections than to have sailed into the playoffs and then meet a team ready to exploit our system. Hopefully Sean and Bobby can right the ship.
When has mcd adjusted the D long time problem … ???
They said that after ravens game and nothing changed
Having this game now is coming next week, that's why they needed this 1 & when your dL blows it for your qB who had 6 tds that's absurd
This is definitely happening again in the playoffs lol. It does every year
You can’t fix this 😂😂😂😂😂

Look at the years of playoff losses (Three in a row at home by the way).
performance like this is why the previous players were let go.
To have any chance against bills …. Opponents have to first, play error free … then play with such. High, extreme physical and emotional intensity…. And be just about perfect … that’s what the rams did ….
Hats off to them …. And hats off to any team that can play that way …
Or just be a halfway decent team & not the complete bums they've been beating
I don't get too excited about that win because we all know what happens in the playoffs.1
So to imply a team has to be perfect is ridiculous.
The defense talk would still be there … but smiles and glory praise for the O …
And you as well ….
@ Kansas City, Houston, LA, Cincinnati
Miami
As usual great analysis Joe. Keep it coming..
Appreciate the support!
Another great game breakdown, thank you!
7:15 Gosh I wish I could visualize the motion technique . I spent a lot of money to see the Bills play at Sofi and knew the defense had issues. I googled Bill’s defense reviews and found your podcast.
The Blocked punt for a TD (an NFL rarity) and No turnovers for the defense. This was the difference.
@kentcarmack5879 when did I say anything remotely close to that? I said that investing went to the Defense not the offense & they still stink
It's pretty clear that the Bills need to have their Chris Jones type DT
Ted Washington clone at NT and Chris Jones are 3 tech…but that’s probably just a dream.
Shakir Mack Ty Johnson and Amari fun to watch.
I’ve NEVER FELT BETTER about being UPSET that the Bills are 10-3 🤷🏽♂️😂😂
I'm feeling surprisingly optimistic coming out of this loss.
I like that. Cheers ✌🏼🌻
Considering that they only had 21 min. in possession of time in the game and scoring 42 pts. Is absolutely crazy
The offense isn’t even worth talking about anymore, they are at a SB level. The Defense needs to step up in a major way however
I do wonder too if our d-line is just average.
@christophergreen1179 probably, im just saying I'd lean towards him over roussou
So you want an "average" defensive line to get worse? He is their best defensive lineman.
Do not pay groot.
Thank you for the explanation on the zone vs man/man. I was one of those that wondered why they weren't doing it more and you explained it.
Thanks so much!!!
Special Teams epic failure...... 9 on a blocked punt call? Inexcusable! McDermott call and forced timeout was the cherry on top!
Excellent review!
Love your Content Bro! Keep slanging!
So basically josh Allen is Payton manning of this era he team always fails him
This team has so much potential but it starts with the dline and I’ve backed them up all year but this is the breaking point. It’s either ride or die
The only people who showed up on Defense were the Bills fans, Stafford doing silent count in LA, shame on you D!
Billls defense haven't face a high powered since the Ravens...rams was the best offense they'll face this year the way they played but it is concerning facing the lions another high powered offense
Detroit has a better offense than the Rams. We'll see how they adjust.
13-4....2 seed...Denver at home? 🤷♂️ Guess I'd take it...But boy the Bills are wasting the best of Josh. McD still make bonehead decisions and the D habitually underperforms against top flight offensive talent
Yes. That is an accurate account of their situation
One game lmao
@ it'll be 2 after next week.
@chrismcallister9038 thinking it's only one game is the problem. This is a pattern. McDermott has consistently underperformed
I appreciate your positivity after the loss.
Have to hand it to Stafford
He’s a fiery tough smart accurate competitor, 16 years in NFL. I always thought of him as one of the best in the NFL…
When he’s hot .. he’s another Allen and can beat anyone …and any defense
He just had a more efficient game than Allen yesterday ..and just shy of perfect .
I would like to know what his EPA was with straight non delayed 5 man pressure, again if nothing else works.. make sure the QB gets hit LEGALLY, but make sure he gets HIT ... zone or man
Like old ROCKY...if you've got nothing else... BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA
How about using our man CB, Elam
We might have to anyways against Detroit if Rasul is hurt. But it might be the best option against Amon-Ra St Brown
They will probably put benford on Amon-Ra St Brown.
@@LuckyMike26def benford Elam most likely get assigned jaymo
No pass rush, the secondary did not cover there zones, the LBs did not cover there zones, we really only have one safety on the field and Rapp can’t do it all
McDermott bringing back the 13 seconds defense
McDermott philosophy on defense has proven year after year that it is not good enough! But he sticks to it! Sorry but this is unacceptable. Small weak defensive line is blown off by opponents. Ends that can't get to a pocket qb is painful to watch. CB getting torched by receivers. Missed tackles. If Buffalo can't at the very least get to AFC Championship it's time for a different coaching style. Close isn't good enough for this fan base
Yes, D-line is not heavy enough. Bills are light up the middle with undersized LBs behind them. Finding an elite full-sized DT would go a long way.
I understand what you mean about the Dlineman, outside of Rousseau. He's still young with a lot of upside. He's a high character guy too. I hope we lock him up for the long term. If we don't, someone else will.
Love your podcast I’m a huge Josh Allen fan he’s become my favorite player.
People forget this is a rebuild season! Count your Blessings there doing so well!
Thanks for the break down! What about TB? Is there hope for him in DTW?
Wait til you see this D vs the Lions...
It’s time for Williams, Elam and Bishop…can’t be any worse than what is playing now … when u want to go man … why is Elam not activated …
MCD what are you waiting for
We don’t need old man Hyde …to make things worse
Lmao
Good breakdown, I feel a little better, but Detroit, I hope we have some weapons back - Kincaid and Coleman - Wow never thought I would hear Von Miller was the best D player on the field this year. Go Bills.
Good morning Joe, do you think there is anything to say about the sleepy start possibly coming from the time zone travel? At the beginning of the game I thought it looked a lot like the jaguars game in London.
Bernard! That's what is missing. Milano didn't play 2 years. He needs about 6 games or more to get back to form. Bernard best tackler
Pants shitting defensive performances such as this are what you get with teams with $70 million in dead cap.
"Faltered" may not be the best way to describe a total defensive embarrassment.
DL stinks, as usual & will be why they go home early again, as usual & Williams>Milano
Milano was slow AF
Beane needs to draft dogs mean players screw ur culture and ur culture guys we need players on D that don’t care about hanging out with the team but will show up and make big ass plays
Lmao
Diggs on a defense...cool
The only defenders the bills have drafted in the first or second round in the last half decade are below average or on the bench
You do a great job explaining your thoughts just from the TV coverage. It seemed like a lot of passing interference calls in particular against my team were extremely tiki attack like you told every down if you wanted to in every game across the league so you had a crew that was not very goodand of course they miss some obvious penalties and some crucial downs against the other team so just throw that on top of the other pile of misplays and screw ups,
Anyone who thinks Milano was gonna be back a game and a half or two games in is clueless. The beauty is he has more than a couple games..
Lastly I think I had a little bit of a pressure is of won the division hangover a letdown of sorts the emotional win last week. I’m not overly concerned but like you said on that d line who is gonna make plays
I still think this team is different. But something’s also… they never change.
As for the Lions next week just remember we were supposed to beat the lions by a greater margin than our game against the lions looks competitive. So we play em all and see.
More like all 11.
Yeah, or on special teams, all 9. Hahaha
Ya I guess, but there are better teams to play and this showing does not fill me with confidence. The defense has been bad all year
our running game is still not strong enough to win at home in the playoffs. Need a vertical runner in January.
Nothing will happen with coaching, etc. Until #17 starts speaking up and putting his foot down with Beane. Get this kid a defense!!!
We go out and beat the Lions on Sunday and the defense plays well and all these people in a panic will be back on board.
Where is been said and heard long enough... If McDermott defense get showed up in the super bowl are in the playoffs it's time for him to go
Our defense couldn’t stop a nose bleed
Assessment is spot on yet again. Not the time to overreact, I'd take where the Bills are at as the 2 seed over any other afc franchise not named the chiefs. Stay down, work hard, fix the shit that went wrong and go again. Life is too short to throw toys out the pram
Great job Bills, got yourself a place at The Arrowhead Invitational.........again.
I would love to see the bills re-up Hollins now. See if we can get him at a bargain...
We both know it was the blue pants Joe
There is a lot of noise out there about this organization wasting the greatness of Josh Allen.
If curtis Samuel is a fast guy, why not use him on those jet sweep plays like they used Mckenzie on?
Is it too early to start discussing DL draft prospects?
I don’t know why but everytime I hear “sub stack” it’s like nails on a chalkboard. Maybe I don’t understand it.but just say become a member. Or become a subscriber
Just what I need another sales pitch of Bills content!
No panic in a loss. Having a bad game happens to everyone in the NFL.
My only concern once again is McDermott utterly awful decision making once again.
Joe,
Idc at all how great you think has been Matt Stafford is.
Rapp another friendly fire injury a cherry on top, at least Ed Oliver doesn't take out Shakira and Douglas
Why did we pay ED. He had one good season, I think everyone seen this coming.
Sheesh. Defensive adjustments. If 3 or 4 isn’t getting to the qb, send 5 or 6.
Rams had Bills playbook😆
Yeah unless Ed Oliver and DaQuon step up we’ll be seeing this poor day defensively again soon.
If they don't correct it, they'll be one and done
It's not gonna be an outlier after next week
Start resting everyone now. The #1 seed it off the table.
We got an early preview of the playoffs.
After that, it's going to be a slim path to advance. Allen can only do so much. I'd add that Allen has to play against the opposing team as well the Bills coaching staff; especially coach McD. He has to hope he doesn't blow it. 13 seconds is a great reference.
I know McD is beloved by most fans. His regular season record is great. He's a great guy beyond football. In many ways, he represents who Buffalo is.
We don’t have the players too run man
Can’t stop the run , can’t get pressure on QB , same defense will show up in playoffs, I wouldn’t pay groot , no one can get a sack on 3and 6.
They wanted it more,
