I know what it was like to lose someone who raised you
Did they still love you when they lost their grip in overdose
facing doors I’d never hold a key to
Searching for gold in a broken home
I know what it was like to have a gift to give away
I know what it was like to prove to them you had something
But someone just like me
Took the world away from you
Just like me
Took the world away from you
Someone just like me
Took the world away from you
Away from you
Searching for gold in a broken home
I’m drawing blood, blood from a stone
I have nothing
No silver lining
Just the guilt of surviving
I have nothing but the guilt
Left in me
But someone just like me
Took the world away from you
Just like me
Took the world away from you
Someone just like me
Took the world away from you
Away from you
(I’m still trying, your will dying,
I’m still trying, your will dying)

This album is pure gold
I agree.
I was quite surprised at how good this album really is. I like all of their albums, but this one might be the best.
Pura sedita!
Nik go listen to Thornhill from UNFD lable
@@c0pyimitati0n you are drunk. Singularity is the best album. Fucking obviously.
I can’t listen to this song without seeing the Kmac video playing in my head.
Itty Bitty LITTY
“I M I N”
literally all I've thought about while watching this
Kmac is the one who got me in to this record.
facts
The moment I clicked on the icon of the video, I didn't expect anything of it, but then when the first note started I instantly thought of kmacavelli the lyrical machete
Jesus fuck, I can't explain this to people who don't listen to this type of music, but the chorus makes me so euphoric. It's crazy to me that so many people will not have that experience while listening to this song
The chorus gives me that closed eyes and goosebumps vibe 😌
Seriously man, makes you feel like an alien.
me too broo
When someone asks you for the meaning of life, chasing that feeling is what you say.
Everyone has their own experience. I find myself wanting other people to feel what I feel from songs. I badly want them to.
But people all feel things in their own and unique way. Even while being similar, they are different from one degree to another.
I honestly wish I could experience how you have felt this song, and others, from your shoes, and you mine.
Hybrid Theory 2077
haha good remark
The drum pattern and chords are very Faint
Nah thats Erase the pain from palisades
@@nicholasdonin1465 No. Thats not even close to Hybrid Theory or Reanimation.
Was totally calling them the modern day LP for a long time, glad to see Im not the only one haha
This song has been on repeat since August
I feel you
Lmao
Hell yeah, to me the best song of the album
So true 😏
Absolutely!
Truly think this album is an essential metalcore staple and an incredible style expansion for the band. Years later I only love this album more and more
They've become pretty divisive in the genre because of that expansion in style continuing with Obsidian (that one was a bit of example of the trope known as a 'Base Breaker', I love it though) to the point that r/metalcore mods were discussing if they should even be allowed to be posted on there any more, along with bands like Bad Omens and Sleep Token.
It's very 'old man yells at cloud' imo and I think it's the fact that these acts have a large crossover appeal, pulling in new people to the world of metalcore that otherwise wouldn't have thought to check it out, and finding that they really like it. And...I agree to an extent, insofar as these aren't pure metalcore, this is now crossing into an era of 'post-metalcore', but I for one am really excited to see where it goes. I think the reddit mods just want to be gatekeepers and act like if you became a metalcore fan because of a chance sighting of something on Tiktok, you're not a 'real' fan you're a tourist
@@lyricsdomatter gatekeeping is good
I can't wait to blast this song when I'm riding in my personal spaceship
Bahaha my friends and I used to call cars "personal spaceships" and I totally forgot until you said this
Go Elon!...
I think the same shit omg
Can i ride with u?
I’ve been addicted to this song for the past couple of months. Northlane is on another level.
Lol Northland is actually a band
@@davidecavaioli2363 hahah
Davide Cavaioli I mean, that’s pretty obvious
@@Potential94 he meant Northlane and Northland are two real bands lol
So my phone fucked up on one letter, y’all get a life lol
It's the album of the year definetely. I never thought techno metal would sound good.
Listen to Enter Shikari's first two albums for an introduction to what made this NL album possibile...
@@Uselessmineral I can see what you're trying to say, but you're quite wrong. Enter Shikari while having a quite shitty production - influenced genre peekers like Asking Alexandria and maybe Attack Attack into making electronicore albums - so lately I See Stars could come out with their masterpiece Treehouse in 2016. But Northlane has nothing to do with ES. It's a whole new genre - it's not electronicore, it's technocore - technometal if u wanna. After Bloodline came out - my hopes for the album were pretty low. But goddamn... It's something I truly never heard and never quite expected. What they achieved It's incredible and the only thing I can say it's that I'm sorry that modern metal is dying because of fucking elitist boomers who are stuck in the 80s. Albums like this deserve much more praise and clout than they're getting - not to mention how braindead were NL fans for bashing Marcus when he joined the band. Adrian and Marcus are nowhere near - and damn - I like talking about this stuff lmao.
@@nexoycer couldn't agree more, the production level on alien is just something else, I think this album is opening something else in the genre
@@Tryzaza it surely does.
Let's say a big thank you to Nolly for making this possible ;)
i like screaming, i like linkin park vibe, i like northlane, i like fast DnB tempo. My favourite so far
It's the perfect mix.
it's not dnb tempo
@@brownmoney27 it is close to it. At least
@@CrosshairM4A1 its over 20bpm slower
@@brownmoney27 not the tempo but the beat pattern
When life is heading south, take the northlane
My favorite northlane track, the chorus just has something special to it.
bet Dante blew your mind then (it did for me)
Northlane would be a perfect fit on Cyberpunk's soundtrack
pre release comment , now we know that Northlane is way to epic for this.
@@dynatwenty Northlane doesn’t deserve to be on such a flop of a game, don’t wanna associate gold with pennies
Northlane has kind of become what I always wanted Enter Shikari to be when I was younger. Heavier and with more sick electronic sounds. I love this!
The mindsweep is fairly similar in sound to alien imo
But, Enter Shikari WAS like this. Only that Northlane has...well...more talented musicians. Not to disrespect Shikari because i absolutely love them but facts are facts.
@@ianka954 I guess that's kind of what I was implying. Enter Shikari have just not cut it for me for a while.
And now they’re total ass
@@KrugerGesagt they're not lol, new album is amazing
Hearing Djent mixed with Drum and Bass really makes me miss Pendulum
:(
They came back!
@@sevicore I heard Rob swire has some new stuff to record with the band, I just want them to actually do it already
Same man! I really wanna see them live! Huge shows they give
Rob Swire is the man
Pure nostalgia, this album reminds me of the early years of Static-X. Wisconsin Death Trip & Shadow Zone. Love the experimentation by Northlane, they did a phenomenal job.
Marcus' cleans is what I need in my life. He's too good.
Who's listening to get through covid-19 lockdown ?
Big love from Melbourne, stay safe everyone x
The Matrix needs a remake and this needs to be the theme song.
Thank you for your co-operation
A remake? Seriously fuck off
Say what you want about this album, but northlane stands OUT! No other band in the scene has this sound. Alien is one of the most addicting metal albums I’ve listened to. The songs get caught in your head after one listen. The melodic ones like Jinn, Freefall, and sleepless are just gorgeous masterpieces while the rest of the tracks have their own style that separates themselves from the other songs. None of the songs sound the same and that’s something I love. This is easily one of the best albums released this year.
Spineshank, Mnemic, and Sybreed want a word with you.
When the breakdown kicks in at 2:11 ....My head almost fell off after that😆.... Amazing edit !
Abhishek Kayasth oh yea totally agree
Pure sludge chaos!
Yesss 😁
Hearing this live was awesome

As we evolve in life, Northlane evolves with me.
That middle part of the song... 🔥❤
Arguably the best track on Alien! Long live Northlane!
I don't understand how people can pick and choose songs.. I have always liked entire albums and the album is so good I can't pick a single best song.
If this is the best track...my homework is done. Sounds like Linkin Park if they had a guy in the band who liked drum and bass...and the lyrics? Do tell me what the hell he is talking about? I have read them a few times now...and all I can think is refrigerator magnets.
@@xzysyndrome Are u illiterate or something? It's insanely on the nose about being from an abusive household and having survivors guilt after succeeding regardless... the title 4D refers to the fourth dimension of time, essentially referencing the fact that Marcus is talking to his past self. This is legit freshman level literary analysis, like it doesn't get easier than this.
@@loxi9 Yes. I am illiterate. Well done. Of all the insults you could have proffered...illiteracy was the one you picked. Clearly, I am illiterate. I can neither read or write...I don't even know how I read your comment...much less how I am responding...being illiterate and all.
That ridiculousness aside...I suppose my initial "refrigerator magnets" comment was a bit like your "illiterate" insult...An offhand hyperbole meant to simply illustrate dislike. I know the lyrics were not "refrigerator Magnets"...but the effort in writing them seems equivalent. Bad insult is bad...let me better say what I meant:
I find the lyrics absolutely freshman...and by Freshman I mean high school Freshman. It certainly does not get easier...outside of Dick and Jane novels. Each to their own I guess.
Tinker Toy lyrics. I guess that is ultimately what I should have said. "This music is Linkin Park with Drum and Bass...and the lyrics suck unless maybe you are 13 or something."
There is poetry for children...and there is poetry for Adults. This is poetry for children....with Drum and Bass Linkin Park.
Уже прошло 3 года. Часто её слушаю. Песня до сих пор великолепна! Спасибо за ваше творчество.
"I'm still trying, your will dying." No better description of the tumultuous relationship between an addict and the person trying to save them.
I just want to speak for a second. When this pandemic started I was kind in a bad state of mind. This was also around the time I discovered Northlane, and I realised how much I fucking adore this record. One evening, I was having trouble sleeping, so I went for a walk around town at about 3am with this album playing. I live in a very urban town and with it being the beginning of the pandemic, everyone else was asleep and the streets were dead empty. It was just me, Northlane and the town to myself.
Thank you for this album Northlane, it's already gotten me through some rough hours and with hopefully help me with my rough hours for years to come.
How did the lyrics of this song actually mean anything to you? Do tell...because I can't make any sense from them...The music is a cooler version of Linkin Park....but these lyrics are just nonsense.
I’m simply speechless. I’m addicted to this song! 🖤🔥
I feel like the song explains what its like have played the hurtful and the hurt role in their lives, “i know what its like to ruin someone’s life because I’ve had my own ruined” type of feels
That breakdown is just filth.
I've not heard anything like this before. It's music I never knew I needed
One of the best albums this year 🙌🏼
Alien is the album i had always wanted Linkin Park to release. It sounds so cool
I agree with you. This album has huge Linkin Park vibes, and this is exactly what I wanted Linkin Park's music to end up like.
@@matthewwalsh7529 their last 3 albums are dramatically different though, i didn't like the last one they released but hunting party and living things were really good
This is better than all discography Linkin park combined

Так держать ребят)
Guys, you are the soundtrack to my life
On their Alien tour in Adelaide they messed up the start of this song and had to stop. Marcus then said "This next song is called 5D" :D
I've been listening to 4-D, but my favorite track on Alien is Jinn.
The Last Day Breathing In Eternal Snow Totally agree with you. Jinn is other thing
That baseline at the end is dirtier than my toilet after a vindaloo. It gives me a skin erection.
Likewise mate!
Jinn goes freaking hard. My favorite too.
drummerAVA It's a beautiful song to.
Whole album is masterpiece, this song is rad, marcus is crazy good
This album hits a spot that hasent been hit since the first time i heard Meteora when i was a kid.
Thank you Northlane...you've touched my soul
Listening to this a lot this week and every time the "just like me" line hits I keep thinking "he just like me fr"

Mother of God..what an incredible song 😳 gives the chills...
Definitely has old school linking park vibes and I love it
This song deserves more attention that it has

The best NORTHLANE album. Ever. Period. Fi-Ya!!!!!!!!!
Always makes me think of that Titan A.E. Movie. I love this!

This has to be one of my absolute favorite songs in recent years. Northlane absolutely kills it and they've quickly risen to become one of my favorite bands as well.
Sounds like something straight outta Devil May Cry soundtracks lol
Legit what I have been saying since I heard Ecplise drop. This album would be sick for DMC
@@xtreme4gamers eeeyyy that would be totally epic, my dude
I don't know why, but it's like this song takes me back to 2006. I think that the harmony of the song gives me the feeling of the afternoons of that time. It's strange, but I feel happy.
"...and I'm breaking the habit tonight"
Marcus has brought this group on so much. Everyone has so much of meaning in the band. No egos at all.
Awesome. This band has really evolved. Top notch.
anyone else get LP Faint vibes?? soooo goooooooooooddddd
I was bornt in 1984 so I grew up with _nu-metal_ and this band did an excellent job at capturing that sound and enhancing it with this new album.
Someone just like meeeeeeeeeeee

The Sleepwalker yessss!!!!
A lot of emotions.
rufus du sol plus linkin park plus northlane = 4D . Not unnecessary screaming, so fresh and nostalig at the same time, amazing! 4D

One word: Eargasm ❤️
Woooooo those drums!
Gotta admit. .. when i first heard this band it was after the first singer left. It was really hard for me to connect to the new songs and vibe.... Few months ago i saw they have a show in Berlin - I ordered the tickets and told to myself, until December 19, you'll hear all new songs and albums...until you'll forget about the old material.
I fell in love.
Truly.
Can wait to them and buy a their t-shirt like a teenager ❤️😻
So...how was it??? and how do you feel about their continued evolution?
Best song of the album for sure.

Such a beautiful and emotional song. This really turned me on to Northlane.
Okay,it's December and now I really sure... This guys new album is my #1 at this year !!!
By far my favorite song on the album and well by Northlane period. Freefall and Dream Awake come close.
what and amazing sound, beautiful and strong, so fresh, gosh this is the music to enjoy.
Northlane is on a whole other level I swear
this album has a lot of drum and bass characteristics
