They've become pretty divisive in the genre because of that expansion in style continuing with Obsidian (that one was a bit of example of the trope known as a 'Base Breaker', I love it though) to the point that r/metalcore mods were discussing if they should even be allowed to be posted on there any more, along with bands like Bad Omens and Sleep Token. It's very 'old man yells at cloud' imo and I think it's the fact that these acts have a large crossover appeal, pulling in new people to the world of metalcore that otherwise wouldn't have thought to check it out, and finding that they really like it. And...I agree to an extent, insofar as these aren't pure metalcore, this is now crossing into an era of 'post-metalcore', but I for one am really excited to see where it goes. I think the reddit mods just want to be gatekeepers and act like if you became a metalcore fan because of a chance sighting of something on Tiktok, you're not a 'real' fan you're a tourist

But Northlane has nothing to do with ES. It's a whole new genre - it's not electronicore, it's technocore - technometal if u wanna. After Bloodline came out - my hopes for the album were pretty low. But goddamn... It's something I truly never heard and never quite expected.What they achieved It's incredible and the only thing I can say it's that I'm sorry that modern metal is dying because of fucking elitist boomers who are stuck in the 80s. Say what you want about this album, but northlane stands OUT! No other band in the scene has this sound. Alien is one of the most addicting metal albums I’ve listened to. The songs get caught in your head after one listen. The melodic ones like Jinn, Freefall, and sleepless are just gorgeous masterpieces while the rest of the tracks have their own style that separates themselves from the other songs. None of the songs sound the same and that’s something I love. This is easily one of the best albums released this year.
Pure nostalgia, this album reminds me of the early years of Static-X. Wisconsin Death Trip & Shadow Zone. Love the experimentation by Northlane, they did a phenomenal job.
I just want to speak for a second. When this pandemic started I was kind in a bad state of mind. This was also around the time I discovered Northlane, and I realised how much I fucking adore this record. One evening, I was having trouble sleeping, so I went for a walk around town at about 3am with this album playing. I live in a very urban town and with it being the beginning of the pandemic, everyone else was asleep and the streets were dead empty. It was just me, Northlane and the town to myself. Thank you for this album Northlane, it's already gotten me through some rough hours and with hopefully help me with my rough hours for years to come.

I had the utmost pleasure of watching this all unfold live at their 10year anniversary show in Sydney. These guys are amazing on stage and in the studio, cant wait to see them next year for the 4D tour

This has to be one of my absolute favorite songs in recent years. Northlane absolutely kills it and they've quickly risen to become one of my favorite bands as well.
I don't know why, but it's like this song takes me back to 2006. I think that the harmony of the song gives me the feeling of the afternoons of that time. It's strange, but I feel happy.
