I mean in the sense that ship battles are only half the fun, the other half is the open world interaction with other players, treasure hunting on land, boarding ships, walking around the ship and ports. O Libertário what would you do in single player mode?, have raiding parties??. It's a pirate game not a lot of heavy stories can be told besides plundering and stealing and a search for gold. Which is very very typical
Stories of betrayal, people trying to retire, spies from the Navy, coming across victims that you know, but you haven't taken spoils in a long time so you have to weight their lives vs. the chance of mutiny. Other pirates stealing your targets or selling you out. Starting out as a member of the ship, working your way up to Captain eventually, then doing missions to make your crew stronger or find Captains you trust to increase your fleet. There are tons of ways to add in great single player content.
It's pre-alpha, so it's at it's earliest stage of development where most of it is still cgi. So there will probably be more in depth boarding sequences, they just don't exist yet.
I hoped they would have fused AC black flag with a sort of GTA concept in it cause I thought stealing new ships and expanding your fleet would be intuitive with GTA's "walk and steal" idea. Plus it goes along with the idea of piracy. But no, they just went into some narrow deathmatch concept and called it a legit game on its own.
God yes. GTA + Black Flag would be aaaaaamazing. Maybe Rockstar will take that opportunity. GTA sucks for example, but Red Dead Redemption I could play for hours.

Black Flag was a great game with a good singleplayer and campaign that also came with a stealth-based multiplayer. Did it downgrade the game? The opposite in fact. Games gets more multiplayer because it brings the community together more as it makes them be able to play together in a way no Singleplayer game could. You might not like it but that's just what modern games are becoming

Sea of thieves looks better to me. What I saw so far looks like pirate vs pirate arena PvP. How fucking original. Surely the dev team behind this was full of passion and fresh ideas. I will keep an eye on this game, but so it's very uninteresting.
Would be amazing if it had an MMORPG style to it. I mean, create a character and start your career as a pirate lord or something like that. With RPG elements like character level, gear etc and actually having control of your character while boarding and stuff. Too bad its actually the same concept as Black Flag. Also i can see it flooding with microtransactions like ship decorations or even entire ships. Theyre probably going to bring ships like Queen Anne's Revenge or the Black Pearl from PoTC or something.. I really want a pirate game like this, theres so much potential but i guess we will have to wait and see..

Ac Black Flag is the best pirate game i've played, yes, it runs away from some of the concepts of the pirates, but still, it's better than 99% of the pirate Games. For me the only weak point of AC BF is that we cannot change our Ship. Like taking a Man O' War or something like that.
And i even think that Sea of Thieves is better than this Skull and Bones just because this is a game about exploration and etc... So what I've seen is that this is one of the game modes. Ubisoft has confirmed there will be a shared open world and that you can build your ships in some way. On another note as I mentioned earlier, there will be several game modes to play too.
Well, I would have love if it was "different" as you say, but from what we can see here, they didn't change much. Sailing mechanics are the same, the way you uses canons are the same, hell, even the hud is the same. Oh sorry, then changed one thing. THEY REMOVED THE BORDING ACTION.

King Krunchy1911 this is late but I caaan. When you are boarded (or do the boarding) you go into a pirate fight phase where the goal is to kill ether the captain or enough crewmen on ether side. If you kill the captain i.e the player you win then and there and can take some of the crew of the ship that boarded you (or vice versa) to replace the ones killed, same if you kill enough of the opposite sides crew. All the while both ships are invincible until there is a winner. The winner ship is repaired and the loses ship is sunk.
Why don't they make a proper story based Pirate game? AC4 was the closest thing we've ever seen to a pure pirating adventure but essentially it was still based around an assassin. I'd love to see a new character created who wants to become the most infamous pirate on earth. Gameplay could be very much like Assassin's Creed crossed with GTA/Red Dead and Far Cry with hunting and crafting. Story could be a young man who is forced to the seas and becomes obsessed at first with making a fortune and then becoming remembered throughout history as the greatest pirate to have ever lived. THAT would me a game I'd buy on day one, but this game having nothing more than multiplayer skirmishes in what can only be described as a few hours of fun at best, I'm not going to bother with it. Ubisoft should take the time to write a brilliant script, design a vibrant and populated world filled with NPC's and animals, give us there mix of AC and Far Cry and finally make a pure pirate game following a man through his life from nobody to the greatest pirate who ever lived. The possibilities are huge even using this Skull and Bones game as a jumping off point.
I'd like to live leave longer enough to see a real pirate game, that's more than just a beautiful graphic PVP game. We deserve a pirate game with a good story of single player ( like Pirates of the Caribbean ) and graphic like Assassin's creed origins . This will be the perfect pirate game .
Sea of thieves is designed to be a simulation of sorts working together with friends like bridge commander. Skull and Bones is world of tanks but age of sailing ships and that is not necessarily a bad thing
Sea of thieves looks like a full pirate experience, skull and bones looks like recycled assassins creed black flag naval combat. I guess if you like naval combat that much then skull and bones will probably be fun for you but im for sure gonna get bored of just sailing around and shooting at ships.

Everyone complains that Black Flag was an amazing pirate game but an awful AC, so they are making a full fleshed pirate game because people always said ''Make a new IP instead of using established franchises'' Why are people hating on something that was asked for.

This has been my dream game since Black Flag came out. An MMO-ish pirate game, this is what Black Flag's multiplayer should have been.

Black Flag was a great game with a good singleplayer and campaign that also came with a stealth-based multiplayer. Did it downgrade the game? The opposite in fact. Games gets more multiplayer because it brings the community together more as it makes them be able to play together in a way no Singleplayer game could. You might not like it but that's just what modern games are becoming

Sea of thieves looks better to me. What I saw so far looks like pirate vs pirate arena PvP. How fucking original. Surely the dev team behind this was full of passion and fresh ideas.

Would be amazing if it had an MMORPG style to it. I mean, create a character and start your career as a pirate lord or something like that. With RPG elements like character level, gear etc and actually having control of your character while boarding and stuff. Too bad its actually the same concept as Black Flag. Also i can see it flooding with microtransactions like ship decorations or even entire ships. Theyre probably going to bring ships like Queen Anne's Revenge or the Black Pearl from PoTC or something..
I really want a pirate game like this, theres so much potential but i guess we will have to wait and see..

Ac Black Flag is the best pirate game i've played, yes, it runs away from some of the concepts of the pirates, but still, it's better than 99% of the pirate Games. For me the only weak point of AC BF is that we cannot change our Ship. Like taking a Man O' War or something like that.
And i even think that Sea of Thieves is better than this Skull and Bones just because this is a game about exploration and etc... While Skull and Bones is just a Rip-Off of the sea battles of black flag. Seriously, if i want to do sea battles i'l just go play black flag, why i would buy another game just for that ?

So what I've seen is that this is one of the game modes. Ubisoft has confirmed there will be a shared open world and that you can build your ships in some way. On another note as I mentioned earlier, there will be several game modes to play too.

They realized that people really loved Assassin's Creed Black Flag ship gameplay. So they did a different project out of it.
Well, I would have love if it was "different" as you say, but from what we can see here, they didn't change much. Sailing mechanics are the same, the way you uses canons are the same, hell, even the hud is the same. Oh sorry, then changed one thing. THEY REMOVED THE BORDING ACTION.
Took the sailing from ACBF, make it its own stand alone game with no additional features, charge AAA retail price seems Ubi to me.
This + open sandbox world multiplayer + expanding the game = thousand hours played

When you are boarded (or do the boarding) you go into a pirate fight phase where the goal is to kill ether the captain or enough crewmen on ether side. If you kill the captain i.e the player you win then and there and can take some of the crew of the ship that boarded you (or vice versa) to replace the ones killed, same if you kill enough of the opposite sides crew. All the while both ships are invincible until there is a winner. The winner ship is repaired and the loses ship is sunk.

Why don't they make a proper story based Pirate game? AC4 was the closest thing we've ever seen to a pure pirating adventure but essentially it was still based around an assassin. I'd love to see a new character created who wants to become the most infamous pirate on earth. Gameplay could be very much like Assassin's Creed crossed with GTA/Red Dead and Far Cry with hunting and crafting. Story could be a young man who is forced to the seas and becomes obsessed at first with making a fortune and then becoming remembered throughout history as the greatest pirate to have ever lived. THAT would me a game I'd buy on day one, but this game having nothing more than multiplayer skirmishes in what can only be described as a few hours of fun at best, I'm not going to bother with it. Ubisoft should take the time to write a brilliant script, design a vibrant and populated world filled with NPC's and animals, give us there mix of AC and Far Cry and finally make a pure pirate game following a man through his life from nobody to the greatest pirate who ever lived. The possibilities are huge even using this Skull and Bones game as a jumping off point.

Sea of thieves is designed to be a simulation of sorts working together with friends like bridge commander.
Skull and Bones is world of tanks but age of sailing ships and that is not necessarily a bad thing
