That is absolutely awesome! You rock, dude! Maybe the best tutorials I've ever seen on UA-cam (and a great choice of songs btw cause this is not the only one I saw)! Keep up the good work! Respect! :)

This is perfect tutorial. Couldn't of made it any better.
Thank you so much.
Do you have a video/audio of you playing the full song? I wouldn't be awesome to Jam alongside you.
Wow, that's so awesome. Thanks. I have loved this song since 1994. Just started playing guitar after 20 years, and now thanks to you I can play my favorite song. Great tutorial.
Great to hear and glad to help out!
Thanks a lot, great feedback like that means a lot and keeps me going with this!!
Thanks so much! I don't have the full song though, I put the lesson together in pieces. I'm going to try and do a full cover eventually if that works?

Thanks and you're welcome!
Thanks man, I try to do my best with these videos and I appreciate the feedback!!
I’ve had this video saved for I don’t know how long. I don’t actually play guitar, but I like listening to this. Lol
It's a pretty iconic song...thanks Steven for checking in!
Thanks and I appreciate the compliment! That's kinda of tricky intro lick but I'll add that one to my list. Once I get back on track I plan to add much more Alice In Chains lessons.
Hey great video .... and may I say refreshing to find an accurate lesson ... is there any chance of you doing epiphany (staind) ... there's so many bad ones on here .. wrong tunings and even out of tune guitars .. be really appreciated!
now that would be a cool tutorial nobody has done opiate and i would love to play it
Bad ass man. You should do i stay away by alice. Awesome song been wantin to learn it for years bro
This is how a lesson is done. Thanks a lot man.
+tornadoofthoughts Thanks a lot, you're welcome!
rpguitarvideos :D . btw, I'm about to buy a electroacoustic guitar, I'm looking for something in the price range of Takamine eg260c or 321, or Ibanez aeg10ii, do you have any recommendation (for good or for bad)?)
Sorry I'd like to help but I don't know much about any of those. If its in your price range I really like my Taylor but the around $500 Yamahas are nice also.
Best cover ever!!!
Thanks!
Wow nice! Thank u
Thank you too!
Nice🔥
Thanks Nick!
sweet!
Do you have an electric version lesson too?
Good shit. Thank you.
Thanks, you're welcome!
very nice !
Rafael Bergamin Thanks!
Ill look into it, prob be a tough lesson to do
Well done sir
Thanks!
Nice video. What strings to you use?
you are epic!!!
+Bryan M Thanks!
I was trying something different by matching the tabs to my hand positions. I don't plan to do tabs (when I do) like that anymore.
God bless you
Álvaro Cobo Thanks!
Hi, great tutorial! Now a somehow related question: did you choose Taylor 214 for any reason (for example, over de 114?? and how did you record the guitar on the video? great sound!
Thanks! At the time it fit my price range and I liked the slim neck on it. The 114 is asian made and those type of guitars are usually junk imo. All I did was use a camcorder, shot gun mic and imovie and no recording programs or sound editing.
Alejandro Veltri imi
For sure, hope it helps!!
yes
You're welcome and thanks! I try to make these lessons the easiest I can to follow so it's good to hear it worked for you!
Tnks
You're welcome, thanks for viewing!
what i mean is what does drop d 1/2 step mean. just from the top string down how should they be tuned? may sound dumb but im a beginner and my actual coordination and skill far surpass my musical knowledge/experience. i dont realy have trouble with chord shapes (sometimes timing but i can get it) or picking but i dont understand the tuning and why stuff fits together or scales so you have to really dumb it down...thanks i really like the video and the straightforward approach
Colby Mcgill Its all good Colby, for this song you drop the low E string down to D (which would make the Drop D chord shapes) and after that you then drop all 6 strings down a half step. Hope that makes some sense of it for you.
okay i tried that man it really sounded terrible. lol got some thicker strings and it sounds much better. really dark sounding. thanks man. do you have tabs for this?
Colby Mcgill Alright, haha! Those thicker strings will beef it up for sure. The only tabs I have are the ones that I inserted upside down on the lower screen right throughout.
That'd be awesome. I would love to play alongside you.
Keep up the great tutorials.
what does the the tuning thing at the beginning mean?
nice
Thanks!
what is the tuning on this one? 1/2 dwn + Drop D ?
I need too learn that intro
It's killer!
amazing video, but I have trouble making the power chords. My pointer and pinky and ring are too dependent on each other. Any "pointers"?
Matt Maloney Thanks, If you're talking about the drop d power chords in the pre chorus and chorus just skip the high notes for now until you get the finger strength and stability to start incorporating them.
What does the G mean in the Taylor 214CE-G. I know C means cutaway and E means it has the new electronics but idk what the G is
I thought G for the body style Grand Auditorium.
Thanks, I use Elixir.
is there a video where you play the whole song?
Trying to learn this song in its entirety.
Great tutorial.
Do you (or anyone else) know the name to the third chord used? I recently used it in a song I wrote and can't find a solid name anywhere at all.
(D open, g 3rd, b 3rd, and e open)
Thanks Dakota, I know the main one is a Dsus2 and I'm not sure on that one. Maybe someone with some theory knowledge will jump in and hopefully answer the question for you.
Year ago now, nobody figured it out. Ended up back here out of chance, forgot how to play the song lol still a great tutorial though.
Also hopefully it’s not too much of a burden to ask, if you respond in these older videos anyways,
Could you do a tutorial on “World Ain’t Right” by a band called HURT, nobody ever does tutorials on them, if they’ve even heard of them in the first place! It’s an acoustic sing featuring Shaun Morgan from Seether (if you know of them).
I can play the intro, pretty sure it’s in drop D but can’t figure out the rest very well. They used to have a really old forum, but I can’t access it anymore for any tabs.
For those you just want to practice playing along with him:
0:00 3:13 6:25 7:48
holy shit a too; tutoria; and acoustic, insta sub, nd yep imma bout to troll ur page till i can play hahaha ty
Do it up!
Oh, and what are the strings too?
which editing software did you use ?
just basic imovie
did u retune the guitar? my open d chord sounds nothing like urs -.-
Is there a way to combine the two guitars into one track?
Sorry William I can't and did answer your email. I don't have the raw footage anymore.
How would you go about doing a single guitar version of this? I would like to play this around a campfire without bringing my looper.
Maybe watch how Aaron Lewis plays it solo. Pretty much just playing a lot of the main riff and having to cut all the lead parts.
rpguitarvideos Thank you for the reply!
Hey man what is the exact guitar you are using in this video?
+Marc Stein It's a Taylor 214ce-G with elixir nanoweb extra light strings 10-47
you should, that would be helpful..AND Fucking Awesome aha
just a camcorder and basic video editing software, thanks!
I meant drop D down a half step= drop C#
Same difference
where are the tabs dude? you mention them in your description. thanks anticipated
There's basic chord position and tabs in the video. If you want babied through it go buy the sheet music for the original song.
@@rpguitarvideos ah that's what you meant with the free tabs. I'm not experienced and am incapable of understanding this type of tabs atm. Np
I bunched the key words together and its a free lesson with some tabs. Sorry this is the best I can offer for "free".
Sounds like Kyle Gass
Def heard that before on here hahaha!
Could you please post a tab. Sounds awesome but I'm too bad to follow fingers
I'm sorry I dont have time to add and write tabs out for this one.
you're welcome
do you have the tab for this?
taryn burress Just the tabs I added to the video is all I have.
How about TOOL- Right in Two?
No more Tool lessons for me...sorry
1:30
Whats the tuning?
Its in the intro of the video
its D# (Eb) Standard tuning but the 6xth string is a C# instead of D#
Please can you teach me?
I did!?!
This is Stainds version
Same difference, right??
rpguitarvideos its a HUGE difference actually, The whole band plays it completely different noob
I don't have one yet, sorry
why do you put your string notes opposite of standard tab? your high E is generally at the top, not the bottom.
nvm i derped hard and didn't see the tuning at beginning
Imagine paying $2000 to $6000 for a guitar
Imagine playing $200-$600 junk guitars forever hahahahahaha!
@@rpguitarvideos you're so right
Lesson and no tabs. K. Fale.
UNDERHILL I'm sorry this free lesson didn't work out for you.
"Fale"
Meheh1301 Try taking out a pen and paper and using the pause button so you can write them down. It's not rocket science. If you are too lazy to do that, then…no one can help you learn to play guitar.
Aren't you really playing this in drop c but if it's drop down a half step it's actually drop C#
No soul
It's not a real lesson when your laying down multiple tracks 🤣
Your complaint doesn't make sense
@@rpguitarvideos Your lession don't eather it's tonally correct but needs a better explanation what chords of the 99 different shapes of a d chord your playing
