Tourism Development Officer as well as Cultural Development Officer's role is not found to be satisfactory in our society. I can see houses and buildings of outmost historical importance of Assam which are left open in the surrounding to rot. Those houses and buildings have a rich cultural history to preserve (CDOs have a big role to play here). I can also see many new sprouting "Tharki Merchants" spoiling big tea estates of Assam with their own hands due to their lack of scientific mindset and sole profit motive attitude (Why not Govt. interfere and veer towards rapid development of tourism here?). There are many examples as such which one can encounter in his/her surroundings. In both the cases negligence of Govt. and Officers are seen. Innovative ideas is important for development of Assam which is far lacking behind. Cracking APSC exam and getting a lucrative job should not be the sole motive of an aspirant, but to work and contribute something for the upliftment of the locality so that it's local people remember him/her is a much needed quality nowadays amongst the Officers. Always remember that People honour only him/her who have a distinguished quality in himself/herself. Evertime Govt. interference is not necessary sometimes Officers can also do many developmental works in his locality regularly, which is rare.
