Thank you for the feedback! I would recommend learning multiple compositions in both Purvikalyani and Pantuvarali so that you are clearer on the raga lakshanam as well as swara sthanam aspects of each ragam!
Thank you madam, I was very much afraid to attempt alapana, your videos have shown light and I am now confident that I can sing the alapana. Can you explain the procedure how you made divisions or parts, it will be very helpful in my musical journey.
A general alapana framework is to start in the lower notes, sing phrases around Ma / Pa and then move up to the Sa and beyond in higher octave. It is important to show one's creativity while incorporating the salient phrases of each raga. However, do bear in mind that one has much freedom to structure the alapana in a very spontaneous way and templates are merely indicative. Much depends on the performer's creativity and the raga's inherent scope. Hope this helps!
Very helpful for students madam. Can the same pattern be used to sing Simhendra Madhyamam. If not, can you please upload manodharma for Simhendra Madhyamam please
Each raga has to be handled based on its unique phrases.... it is not advisable to use the same exact phrases for another raga as we need to consider the typical phrases unique to each raga.
