I have only two of these in my collection. Both 1952.
Thoroughly enjoyed the series. Just sad that my 5 shillings dissapeared. Looking forward to your next lot of videos. Through you I have learned so much which is truly appreciated. Thanks again for all your hard work.

This is one of the better presentations on coins I've viewed. I liked the way you compared the intrinsic bullion value of the coin, i.e. its actual silver content to the silver value in todays market.
I live in the Republic of Ireland, in 1928 we replaced the UK coinage with our own £, s, & d. of the same size and weight but the silver coins had a higher silver content 0.750 silver than the UK equivalent 0.500, which were accepted alongside the Irish issue.
Our highest issue was the 2/6d and we didn't produce a crown. We did issue a 10/- 0.833 silver in 1966 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1916 rising, this coin did not prove popular as a higher denomination and was withdrawn with over half melted down.
The Crown 5/- is an impressive coin, it is bigger than our 10/- coin there is something about the Crown maybe it's just its sheer presence.
We went decimal in 1970 and joined the € in 2002, so I have spent 3 different currencies in the one country.

I only collect South African coins by type and sub-type but not by date. Unfortunately in Argentina South African coins in circulated grades are way more expensive than in your country (as usually happens) but comparatively you got the chance to get a very high grade coin for the same or almost the same price as, say, a VF coin. Still I need farthings of George V, that seem to be very scarce in general, and of Elizabeth II, which I refuse to pay the prices they ask for them 😅. On the other hand, crowns and the large 50c pieces are rather plentiful and they usually come in nice grade, I have all types of them, but of course they are considerable more expensive than their bullion value.

What will be good price point for these proof and MS coins?
I should actually make a video on that as well. The year plays an important role here. A graded MS or PF 1959 should go for around R7K+. The more common 1948 (also graded in high PF or MS) around R1000. It varies wildly.
What is the going price of the 1947 five shillings coins
Hi there. It depends heavily on condition. The coin is 80% silver, so at least R180 for any condition. For an UNC around R500 and up to R3000 for a high MS graded coin.
