Binaural panning?? Unbelievable. Had no idea my basses and kicks were being spread apart like that! That adjustment alone has suddenly made such a gigantic difference - thanks very much! The difference is night and day!
Use the side-only EQ option without using binaural pan and you'll get the same effect and result without clipping because you still have to use compression as well...... believe me, side-EQ on the 808 or bass alone will give you more stereo space while keeping it clean and still hitting hard. It works. For the kick, do the same thing because the samples that come in packs and kits are already processed to sound a specific way. Main thing is to clean up the low sub sonic freqs under 100 Hz and keep the mids to save stereo space once you layer in other instruments, you'll be amazed how clean and hard your mixes will come out, don't forget to use your ears.
Yep that's a fact..cj has videos for Eq - ing snares , kicks, hihats...I applied what was in those videos right away along with knowledge I already had and it was very noticeable.
Wow! Have been producing for a decade and this is one of the most informative videos I've watched. The binatural panning is a game changer - big thanks!
Sir, watching your video tonight (just now) taught me about "Binaural Pan" and how it is used to make a sound mono so it can be placed where you want it to sit in the mix. That tip is unbelievably POWERFUL. C.J. Sir, you are a goldmine of Audio Intelligence and a major blessing to anyone with a brain in their head and is paying attention. Please don't ever change. You are making a BIG BIG DIFFRERNCE.
This is the best tutorial I found there’s no respect for people who use logic on UA-cam... can never find good videos that actually help... you showed me stuff that I didn’t even Logic had
The binaural thing was a game-changer! I've only ever used Logic, and never knew about that. Clearly I need to explore the program more haha, but anyways: thanks for that!
Thank you for explaining this so simply!!! For over a year I've been trying to find a tutorial that I could actually finish watching without being confused or uninterested in
great tips on how to mix the 808 and kick. i've never used the platinum Bass preset on the compressor, i'm gonna have to try that today. thanks for another great vid.
Hi cj.... Nice and simple..... pretty much liked. I learned something new. Can u upload some tutorial about how to create realistic tones(stock) from logic x
I was literally thinking about how to do this!! I can't thank you enough for this amazing tutorial! A idea, can you show how to prepare your mix for mastering. A to Z. Now i need to watch all your other videos and get to work 🔥 🔥 🔥
Thank you for this CJ I been keeping up with your videos and I genuinely feel like you give personal hints and tricks and jus wanna thank u for that my g. Hope all is well mentally and spiritually
Hey CJ just discovered your channel and i love it. learned some good tips. Thank you very much ! I was wondering if you could do a video on Roll snares techniques. The way how you do them easily and quickly like on this video above. If you don't mind of course. Thank you very much and im gonna carry on checking your videos. Actually im watching them many times to try to understand proprely. Thank you. Cheers
Hey man great sounding mixing keep up the great work and keep making great music keep up the good work man and keep making great music I also do a lot of mixing tips on my channel great job man the drums sound great
Hey CJ, could you put up a tutorial on how to make kicks punchier, and how to make the choruses on a song more impactful as a result? At present I can put together a song and use a lot of automation as well, but I still fail to make my choruses sound 'larger' than the verses (if that makes any sense). Hope you'll do one on this.
CJ, thanks man. I watched this and tried it on my kicks and wow does it make a difference when you try it out on your own tracks. Really "thumps" lol thanks bruh bruh
CJ thanks again bro for taking the time to demonstrate this, makes sense now, my 808's I always had in mono but my kick was always in stereo because I would create a new track and load up Ultrabeat to add my kick sounds which explains why when I go to master the beat through ozone, as soon as the track runs through the maximizer it sounds a lil distorted even when I have my levels set right. Is it possible for a future video to go through when tracking out a beat to an artist what to take into consideration as far as volume and overall DB gain level, I know alot of people have different preferences but for me I have trouble understanding when mastering my beat once I get to the EQ stage on what I need to do whether that's deduct or slight add...
sure man, thanks for the idea! - in terms of tracking out for artists I can definitely make a new video on this. - I generally try to leave about 6db of headroom on my master channel if tracking out and sending to an artist or engineer. so in essence, i try to keep my master at -6db if that makes sense. This allows for the artist to still add vocals and it can be mastered once the track/song is completed.
@@CJBeatzProductions yep got ya, makes sense, whats the difference between sending an MP3 of 128kbps - 320kbps is that higher quality version of the overall track??
@@89mrhuey yeah, i mean if you are sending MP3's to artists I would def send them at the higher bitrate (better quality mp3) but if you want to send them better quality, use WAV.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledges. Your channel is full of amazing contents and tutorials ! Where can I find this beat ? So dope mate ! Respect from France ;)
Very clearly explained. Thanks man. Instead of pulling your faders down so low though, why wouldn’t you just utilize the output gain on your compressor? I think the sound starts to lose more of its detail the lower the fader is pulled.
CJ Beatz I’m doing the same as the tutorial and I’m wondering y the hell my kicks is so damn loud. I finally realized u said u r using logic stock sounds..I’m using hi quality samples so do you still recommend binaural pans if ur using high quality drum samples?
How do u prevent it from clipping? When doing these changes boosting the bass. I always have to lower the track a ton after adding these plugins. Does that take away a lot from the bass or not that much?
Is sidechaining completely necessary if your kicks are already hitting hard and can hear them clearly? I feel like sometimes sidechaining works and other times it adds too much distortion on the low end of the mix. Great tutorial though CJ, there hasn't been a single question i've asked that you didn't have the answers to. Appreciate it man!

But what is the advantage over just making your kick mono?
Use the side-only EQ option without using binaural pan and you'll get the same effect and result without clipping because you still have to use compression as well...... believe me, side-EQ on the 808 or bass alone will give you more stereo space while keeping it clean and still hitting hard. Finally a Tutorial that shows how to mix the 808. I haven't heard my 808`s on little speakers and nobody could help until now.
glad to hear it!
Sphaxomania what I always did was use trap bass and turn the volume of everything else except for the bass or 808
Also look into mid/side EQ

CJ Beatz oh gotcha
How do u prevent it from clipping? When doing these changes boosting the bass. I always have to lower the track a ton after adding these plugins. Does that take away a lot from the bass or not that much?
