    I edited these videos to add a personal opinion disclaimer and blur out the uniform. Technically, it's advised to not deliver personal opinions in uniform, and I had an anonymous complaint lodged against me. The content is the same, but please realize that they are my personal opinions only and not those of the Navy.

    Hello Mr. Snyder ! Thanks so much for the heads in regards on what to expect during ODS. Congrats on your amazing achievement and becoming a navy officer. I will be going this coming weekend and now I feel a bit more relaxed about what to expect and what to do.
    Quick question.. what did you have to memorize that in your opinion is crucial to know before you go there?

    • @chadsnyder5023

      Congratulations! ODS is both an exciting and stressful time! One of my battalion's CEC officers will be attending this next class as well. As for your question, there is nothing "crucial" to know before going...besides perhaps your rank and name. =) If you want a jumpstart, then google that gouge sheet and start learning your oaths, orders of the sentry, etc..., but you will also have 4 weeks to study that before you're tested on it. Enjoy King Hall in the summer! =D

      Thanks so much Sir! Great to know! Were you there for those months too? What’s the weather like? Btw.. Someone was telling me I need to have memorized the sailors creed but I will download the gouge sheet as you suggest. It’s always good to be ahead of the game :)
      A couple more questions: do you need to buy yourself a lock for that for that dresser/ locker you talk about? Does it have to be a specific lock?
      What color is the bottle of water they give you there? I heard now they give one -not free- but at least everyone has the same one.

      @@johanapereira9667 I was there from July-August 2023. May should actually be a really nice month to be there. It should be pretty nice.
      You can just look for "ODS Knowledge Sheet" and it should appear. They should have sent you a packing list with required items, so be sure to double check what I say with that list (in case they changed anything). Your lock needs to be a combination lock. You have to set it to zero whenever you're not inside your room. You will have to carry your water bottle ("hydration tool") with you everywhere, so get one that you can comfortably hold on top of your forearm while marching. I believe the requirements are that it must be minimum 1 liter (32 oz) in size and transparent (it can be colored, just must be see through). I purchased a few flavor enhancers I carried in my backpack to add some taste.
      There is a NEX on base where you can buy a lot of this, and a Walmart nearby off base. If you get there early, you can still leave base. But once ODS officially starts, it'll be 3 weeks before you step foot off base.

    Found out yesterday I was selected for a dco position. Not sure on ods timing yet but it'll happen in the next 12 months.

      That's exciting! Congratulations! =D If you're active duty, you'll go pretty quickly (they reserve most of their spots for active duty). If you're on the reserve side, it can take a year or more to go just due to availability.

    • @MrRoadchaser
      @MrRoadchaser 3 місяці тому

      @chadsnyder5023 reserve side I've heard it can be tricky and often with a very short window of finding out. Sounds like 2 weeks prior to classes they open leftover seats for reservist.

      @@chadsnyder5023 Hi Chad! Thanks for the great videos. They've been incredibly helpful. I also got selected for a reserve position by the MSC board a month ago. Do you have any insight into the chances of getting approved for a split ODS? I'm starting a new civilian job, so taking five consecutive weeks off would be quite challenging.

      @@attilaturkoglu9673 As long as you can reasonably show that it'll cause a great deal of strain on your profession, I doubt it'll be an issue. Once commissioned, speak to your command, and they should be able to arrange it for you. There is a good resource on it here: www.netc.navy.mil/Portals/46/NSTC/OTCN/docs/ODS%20Split%20Option%20Flyer_28Jan22.pdf

    ODS has not sent my e ticket for tomorrow. 2 questions: 1. Will ODS give me a second e ticket back home on week 5? 2. Did you get to have a check-in luggage up to 23 og and a carry-on luggage?

    Hello, thanks for sharing this. May I ask exactly what does the drill officer collateral get to do?
    Do y’all do any cadence runs, if so who is the one who is leading the cadence?

    • @chadsnyder5023
      @chadsnyder5023  3 місяці тому +1

      The basic drill-O job will be issuing all commands while in formation (they will teach you). It was a week or so until we did any cadence. At first, the drill-O called cadence, but they started tasking that out to volunteers so the drill-O could focus on the formation (it's hard to do both).

      You are expected to be within grooming standards, but at ODS they don't require full head shaves. I believe OCS still does head shaves.
