The kitchen marble and backsplash are great. The rest... Maybe they want the new owner to imagine putting their stamp on it.
A regal house like that needs much warmer decor. Way too stark. Lacks that country house feel.

Gorgeous house. But that long thin statue in the foyer is just awful. And I like my kitchens a little more kitcheny and less elegant. Kinda looks like a lady's dressing room at first glance.
I would update the front by polishing the brick around the entrance and adding some fresh plants and flowers. It's a bit dated in an old McBeth kind of sense. Nice house, some updated furnishings would suit better to make it more modern. It holders Rich' but in a very Right wing Connecticut' way. All of that could be done very affordably.' Very spacious property and could be a great compound for gatherings and weddings. 5million, you bet it's worth it for the land (and house) you get. Here In California, you could never' unless you have Oprah money.
Interesting. I found it very nouveau rich. The young “metros” who know nothing about elegance, taste and grace. This is Fairfield County. Right wing would have libraries with bookshelves filled with first editions. Instead of the latest “fad” trend of the day, it should be classic or go home. 😉
@@Dawned-13 To each his or her own. This is just a very bland rich person's home, I get 1984Dynasty vibes from this house. I am familiar with that particular area and am sure that is the norm. But I don't like it much....But, great property for what you get.
