So far as train videos go, You have that magnificent entrance to the station, an absolutely mint looking engine complete with coaches plus the sun is shining making it a gorgeous day, and to cap it all off, we have a very experienced filmmaker with an eye for detail in charge of the camera...!! What more can I say.
This film ticks all the boxes Bob, you did it proud.
Absolutely superb camera work from start to finish... 10* from me :-))
Oh well Thumbs up then. :-))

Lovely compilation from Bristol, of a special occasion. The Earl looks immaculate! The GUV looks to be a useful item for future runs. Thanks for sharing Brian

Raised many happy memories - I was the NR rep on the train ringing our control and signal boxes - especially on return to London, for a good run - signallers and loco crew did well. Driver Poole saying he'd never had every signal green Bristol to Padd! Many thanks for posting P

It's always rewarding when a piece evokes happy memories for the viewer. It was a memorable run, and with Ray Poole at the controls.....it was a winner all the way..Regards...Bob

@pwalpar There are always crowds whenever there's a steam hauled train out Walter, this loco was just a rusted chassis, wheels and boiler for many years...hard to believe when you see it now...Thanks as always...Bob

Great vid Bob. The Earl looked as good as always and that water van is a great idea (same it's in West Coast maroon!). I believe Tyseley want to convert their own at some point. Well done.

@Bobcatonline It was less of a spectacle than I was expecting Rob, and with a tripod in use, being in the middle of the action was not an option, so I stood back and used the lens to get in closer...Thanks as always for your support...Bob

Great footage of the superb Earl of Mount Edgcumbe Bob! I have to admit I go a bit goggle eyed when this loco is around! Well captured as always but when compared to your recent work it just shows what a superb piece of kit the x920 is, and that's no detriment to this video. Thanks. Ken

Looks like another good day out! Excellent and very enjoyable video of a great loco. Bags of steam and atmosphere. You seemed to be joined by a great many fellow enthusiasts. One thing that struck me was that, unlike yourself, so many of them got so close to the loco that they couldn't see it properly! Nice one again Bob.

@GreatWestern175 Thanks Ry, not the best day I've had filming, the train arrived at plat 10 which isn't the most photogenic, it came in 10 mins early and caught many on the hop, and there was very little excitement at the arrival or departure, with just one brief blow on the whistle and gently away, so it left me with the only option of capturing all parts of the loco....Bob

  • @robmasterman

@NN2Blue I can always rely on you Mike, to give a truthful evaluation, and that's greatly appreciated....There was just something missing compared with previous workings at Temple Meads....Bob

  • @robmasterman
    @robmasterman  14 років тому

@Jonern67 Thanks Jonern, they've done a magnificent job of restoring this loco, for years it was just a rusting frame, wheels and boiler.....Bob

@railwaychannel My pleasure Mark, this is one of the best solutions to date to solve this water provision for locos, and is what you've come to expect from the Bob Meanley stable at Tyseley. Thanks again for your kind and appreciated comments...Bob

Didn't need to guess where you were going Saturday! LOL! I sense from some of your other comments that you were a bit disappointed with the way events turned out. I think this video is one of your best where you have attempted to squeeze every last ounce of creativity out of difficult circumstances. A definite "Favourite" and the last award of 5* I'm ever making!
These weather conditions have lead to stunning imagery over the past few weeks. Jet aircraft screw up the atmosphere!! - LOL! Mike

Nicely filmed record of the days events Bob ,Sometimes its nice to just watch the station activity and close shots of a well turned out loco and crew. The Castle is a credit to Tysley along with their imaginative thinking with the GUV. Certainly looks better than the infrequently used water carrier for the King. Mike

Excellent work Bob. I heard today that she was 10 minutes early into Reading. Apparently she was looped to let a 125 HST go through. She was 3 minutes early to me at Didcot though. 5* (or liked)

@acw71000 I'd travelled up from West Wales by train Austin, which restricted my movements, and I was hoping for an arrival under Brunel's overall roof, but it came in on Plat 10, it arrived at platform 1 for the departure, but again they didn't start from under the canopy, so I was disappointed in that respect.....so all that was left was to film detailed shots...Thanks as always...Bob

@@robmasterman I'm a lifelong model engineer having built 6 passenger hauling steam locos. My father was a driver on the LMS for 47 years.
My step daughter is Cambodian and in 2017 when visiting UK we had a day out on the Shakespeare Express with 5043 and Ray as the driver. Ray invited my step Daughter, Ying 26 and myself onto the footplate. Ying was so happy, it gave her such a lot street cred when she went back to Cambodia!

    To robmasterman
At least, Bob, with diesels there is less hassle from the public. Stations must be about the most difficult places to get a good clean shot.
