I like to thank all these heroes that served our great country and paid the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom...you men were on a different level ❤
So much is owed to these brave men and women who gave all to ensure our freedoms! We must never forget the sacrifice these men who fought so valiantly so we may remain free! Nerver forget!!
I am American, I have me some Englishman ancestry in me heart and well connected to me soul,.. I have found this so moving, the chilling reality of the sacrifices these men brings warmly to hearts of many the well and good for our world,.. Where ever we may call home, the bravery of these men, well defined humanity here in Normandy,.. 😢🇲🇫🇬🇧🇨🇦🇺🇸
@frederic... Votre texte est magnifique. Merci. Honneur et Courage Ils ne devaient pas en manquer . Merci à vous. Tristesse qu'ils soient partis, pour beaucoup si jeunes... ❤❤❤ Je m'associe à votre message !
Thank u all for serving Our Country and Your Countries during WWII Era, Especially on D-DAY 80 Years Ago on 6/6/1944.. I also like the song and also an ideal song for that Day..
I had two great uncles on those beaches. Both survived into their '90s Something about an Irish/English brouge makes it all the more poignant 😢 and heartbreaking to behold. Same with the poem "And the band played Waltzing Matilda" If you can get through a reading of it dry eyed you are of stouter heart than I.
This is such a touching monument... Thank you all for your service, so future generations could live in peace. Where would we be without your bravery, RIP....
Just think being out for a walk and you came up a hill to the top . Looked out and saw this Out in front of you. For me it would be emotional and think back to the actual day it happened and only imagine the noise and gunfire. Good job too job to the people that put these up.

This is a nice tribute, but why are they "All" looking down?
In remembrance.
Is this a memorial? Cos the caption at the bottom is incomplete and doesn't say.

What is the name of the song?
Who knows this song?
The Shores of Normandy - Jim Radford, based upon a traditional irish march "the downing of the day"
In the cold grey light of the sixth of June
In the year of 44
The Empire Larch sailed out from poole
To join with thousands more
The largest fleet the world had seen
We sailed in close array
And we set our course for Normandy
At the dawning of the day
There was not one man in all our crew
But knew what lay in store
For we had waited for that day
Through five long years of war
We knew that many would not return
But all our hearts were true
For we were bound for Normandy
Where we had a job to do
Now the Empire Larch was a deep-sea tug
With a crew of 33
And I was just the galley-boy on my first trip to sea
I little thought when I left home of the dreadful sights I'd see
But I came to manhood on the day that I first saw Normandy
At Arromanches, off the Beach of Gold
'Neath the rockets' deadly glare
We towed our blockships into place
And we built a harbour there
'Mid shot and shell we built it well
As history does agree
While brave men died in the swirling tide
On the shores of Normandy
For every hero's name that's known
A thousand died as well
On stakes and wires their bodies hung
Rocked in the ocean swell
And many a mother wept that day
For the sons they loved so well
Men who cracked a joke and cadged a smoke
As they stormed the gates of hell
As the years pass by
I can still recall the men I saw that day
Who died upon that blood-soaked sand
Where now sweet children play
And those of you who were unborn
Who've lived in liberty
Remember those who made it so
On the shores of Normandy
Wow.
No joke I’m English I was there 3 hours ago
Leaste we forget❤❤❤❤❤
