    Interesting game. It’s also worth mentioning that in the position at 4:49 it was possible to take the pawn with Qxe5 but it would lead to a draw after Rxf3. That’s a nice line as well.

    QQ, at 4:50, why can’t white do Qxe5? If black takes back, white has rf8#. What am I missing?

    • @josepherhardt164
      @josepherhardt164 12 днів тому

      Good Q. And the endgame as shown isn't so clear to me. The black K can just cycle back and forth diagonally in front of the white pawns and keep them held. If white's K then tries to free his far-side pawn for queening, that takes 6 moves vs. the passed black pawn's 5 moves. What am _I_ missing?
      Edit: It could be that the white K starts guiding his pawns forward and that passed black pawn is then not fast enough to queen, even if the white K winds up out of the square of the passed black pawn.

    • @gioelesnider9402
      @gioelesnider9402 11 днів тому

      Draw after Rxf3

    • @faznaz7455
      @faznaz7455 11 днів тому +1

      Because Rxf3 and white is certainly not playing for a win in that position. There is no need to calculate further if you see that you are on the tricky side of equal position. After Rxf3 if gxf3 then c2 pawn falls with check and here black has a passed c4 pawn so white needs to play accurately here.
      The other option is to insert Qb8+ first and there are 2 important options here, tbh i am unsure about the Qe8 Queen trade and it’s one of those positions where move by move has to be considered but I don’t think black is losing that endgame. The problem is that the bishop can’t really target anything and the king is far away to target the pawns, so white has to be careful here. But even the Ne8 option (which i prefer in rapid/blitz), black is certainly pressing here because again the c2 pawn falls with check which is an issue in most of these lines so black is not worse here, white needs to play accurately. When you realise that after Qxe5 Rxf3 that black is not worse then you should stop calculating because there is no point playing a position that’s draw or lose with high risks. This concept separates advanced players to master level players. Black also has perpetual threats because allowing Rxf3 ruins the kingside pawn structure too.
      White is simply better if they keep the king safe and slowly build up threats against the exposed enemy king so they don’t need to rush. Black is running out of moves trying to cover their weaknesses.

    "...once every 50 episodes completely overpowered" or "overpowering"?
    Indeed Wei YI is one to watch closely . He seems to be pretty good. That trick with capturing the pawn at the end does win him Don Corleone pts as it can be interpreted as baiting Abdusattorov into ...an offer he couldn't refuse, thus reducing the game to a 4-tablespace with 2 connected pawns. Nodirbek went for it (capturing the pawn), after all Wei-Yi's move could be considered sub-par, his pawn where for a move or so doubled, so yeah, nice touch, but not something you can get away with in classical play, i should think.

    I love this channel and game analysis. However, something that always bothers me is the fact that when there are no moves to be done or weird positions are going on when there are "now what to do" situations, or ehat else can be played; not the top move recommend by the engines are shown some normal/silly/simples moves are shown which can ruin the analysis.
    Just my opinion tho. But love the good work. There used to be an " I let the engine crunch positions to depth 40+" and showing premium moves and now it is not there which I am like ok what if this. What if that? It is always the first and easiest way to give up and I don't like it
