I love the African drums during the chorus as well. Paranoid: the most "rap" the album gets, and it's amazing. Robocop: good, but there are points where it sounds extremely loud. Street Lights: good on a first listen, kinda boring in subsequent listens Bad News: great song See You in My Nightmares: this is the one in the second half you said was bad? Street Lights I did mention is extremely boring on subsequent listens, and that's not just in a row either. I listened to it a second time weeks after and it was super boring. That song is honestly mid, maybe even bad. And if I'm being honest, a lot of those opinions were to appease the fans, but if I said the word "good" I meant "it's just okay, probably mid" aside from Coldest Winter and Pinnochio Story.

I agree with most of his picks here, but Because of the Internet is a way better project than Awaken My Love, for a few different reasons, imo. Firstly, I've listened to Because of the Internet approximately 5 times through since it has come out, versus Awaken My Love, which I have only listened through the whole album one time, when it was first released. BOTI is just more playable to me. Secondly, I think that BOTI is a more complete album. I genuinely cannot find a song on the project that I don't like or love in some capacity or completely. Awaken My Love has some nice, big bops, but there were moments where I wasn't as invested.
Over-compressed “loudness-war” era production which saps all dynamics, too many hammy pop rock ballads, lyrics that don’t exactly cut that deep if you were listening to actual radical anarcho punk and crust during the same era it came out, and just lacks a lot of the natural energy, plain sincerity, and playful vibe of the albums that Greed Day put out in the 90s.
just listen to it in its entirety, the transitions into masterpieces like a day in the life are too good. But its more that it was just so revolutionary for its time. It wouldnt make it into my top 3 beatles albums tho

Like no fault to Dookie, it is a seminal album for Green Day and defined their sound but American Idiot has better storytelling and lyrics and dynamics that Dookie just lacks. I mean Dookie has two songs about masturbation. American Idiot is the more mature album with way more story to tell than Dookie.

It's thanking its lucky ass Boulevard of Broken Dreams is the song that follows it up) It still holds up amazingly well with lyrics off of the title track that hold horrifyingly true nearly 2 decades later.

Peppers has some great songs and is maybe more influential in music history, but Abbey Road is the more consistent album.

I agree. The songs in Dookie are a bit repetitive and boring. I used to like that album, but I've grown to not like it much anymore. I only like Nimrod, Warning, and American Idiot. American Idiot is a fantastic album and Green Day’s best album.
Dookie, the songs are just so much better and Green Day really felt like they weren't selling out, feeling more rebellious and everything... But it's really fucking hard to pick that over American Idiot, given all the sentimental value I have towards that, me and my friends used to jam out and listen to it a lot, I still remember the big road trip my best friend and I went on where we listened to it in full like, twice just in that day alone, then a couple other times before I went to college and she moved away.

Dookie’s great but I’m definitely more of an American Idiot guy. I’ve never found it preachy at all, IMO not one skip on that album for me, whereas Dookie has 1 or 2 that don’t grab my interest (looking at you All By Myself)
Also another hot take: Nimrod is better than Dookie.

All by Myself is the secret track and it’s at the very end so I don’t really count it lol! But some of those one and a half minute songs in the second half of the record I might skip.
I agree. The songs in Dookie are a bit repetitive and boring. I used to like that album, but I've grown to not like it much anymore. I only like Nimrod, Warning, and American Idiot. American Idiot is a fantastic album and Green Day’s best album.

I couldn’t stand American Idiot. I thought it was a poor album. Dookie is a classic.

I agreed with all of them. Just all seem like the real deal out of the choices they all had. 😃
Dookie, the songs are just so much better and Green Day really felt like they weren't selling out, feeling more rebellious and everything... But it's really fucking hard to pick that over American Idiot, given all the sentimental value I have towards that, me and my friends used to jam out and listen to it a lot, I still remember the big road trip my best friend and I went on where we listened to it in full like, twice just in that day alone, then a couple other times before I went to college and she moved away.
