Sir alex pre man utd was a beast winning the league with aberdeen
And did great things at St Mirren
Won it 3 times, won the cup 3 times in a row too, as well as the Cup winners cup obviously - massive haul for a team who've hardly won a thing before or since
@@joelmacinnes2391Sir Alex was obsessed with winning mediocre hard working players, he persisted with this philosophy even when the rest of football had moved on. I belive had he been open to signing more international players early on he would've won waaaaay more European Cups than he did, the 4 finals don't tell the full story, coz from 1987 till 2007 they'd only won it once and been in the final once.
Real Madrid in the early 2000s were always humiliating them
The fact that arsenal almost signed him is crazy
Ain’t that wild? Against rangers and Celtic. And they beat madrid too somehow. That’s for everyone who says sir alex couldn’t do it in smaller teams
Alex Ferguson’s Aberdeen. The last side to beat Real in a European Final AND the last side that wasn’t Rangers or Celtic to win the Scottish Premiership. Two records going strong 40 years later.
I'm amazed at how many Man Utd Fans didn't know SAF was already great before he joined MU. He was like Mourinho coming to Chelsea after conquering Europe with Porto. Would be nice to see the history which newer coaches like Alonso will create and leave behind.
Comparing aberdeen to porto and cup winners to ucl?😭😭
@@LmaoJaime Cup Winners Cup was massive way back when. And Porto are a lot more massive than Aberdeen, so yeah, makes it even more impressive, and considering how things went for Fergie 3 decades after that compared to Jose who looks expired in less than half of that tenure.
@@derihill it took fergie 6 and a half years to win his first league title with 2 or 3 mid table finishes. Mourinho came as a star and his first chelsea season was one of the greatest ever premier league exhibitions. Cup winners cup wasnt as massive as ur making it also, amazing achievement for fergie and aberdeen anyway
@@LmaoJaime Look at the Chelsea situation Mou took over and the United situation Fergie took over and now imagine the outcomes if swapped... Context is key, but I'm not saying you're completely wrong on this.
@@derihill people make mourinho out to be this manager who can only win with a lot of money and its just not true. He did great at benfica all things considered, left Leiria in 4th place which is amazing, and it was him who rebuilt porto into a back to back uel and ucl winners. Almost won a throphy for spurs, 2 finals with roma, utds best season since fergie left... My point is chelsea hired a star and it took no time for it to show, fergie has a much bigger legacy and he wasnt completly unknown when he came in at utd but it took some evolving to get there.
112th minute - Fergie time in action already and we didn't even know it.
You’re joking right?
VARdrid with a penalty as well, truly a classic game
@jakem5039 seriously?
@@topazmcfc1427 can't be talking
@@thebatman3361 Can we not acknowledge Real Madrid's greatness without talking about paying referees all the time? Hearing it from everywhere really starts to get annoying. Also, this isn't about me or City. You saying this is just a bit childish.
"Aberdeen have what money can't buy - a soul, a team spirit built in a family tradition" - Alfredo Di Stefano ⭐️⭐️🔴⚪️🔴
*and Fergie time 😅😅
Lemme hear you say Ov-HO
🐑🐏
Thats quite a compliment.
Reminder that once in the 1970s, Derby County beat Real Madrid 4-1 at home, they were cooked 5-1 in the second leg at the Bernabeu and knocked out 6-5 on aggregate💀
90 minutes at Santiago Bernabeu is a long time
We'd lose our minds over a tie like that today between any two teams.
That sort of thing used to happen, Gothenburg themselves beat Barcelona 3-0 in the first leg of the European Cup semi final before losing the 2nd leg 3-0 and missing what would've been a winning penalty before losing the shootout 5-4 (Barcelona played Steau Bucharest in the final and lost 2-0 on penalties after a 0-0 draw 🤦♂️)
Same with Cardiff. They beat Real 1-0 but lost 2-0 in the second leg.
Derby County were a different team back then, easily the best in the English league. Now they just envy Nottingham Forest
You had to go all the way back to sir Alex Ferguson to find someone who defeated Real in European final☠️
not even sir alex ferguson
just alex ferguson 💀💀💀
Yes, we watched the video too
Alex Ferguson is not to be compared to these other great managers. He showed generational levels.
"... and Hewitt waiting iN THE MIDDLE GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLL"
Technically its atletico madrid in 2018 since they beat real madrid in the uefa super cup
That's correct, and also Galatasaray beat them in 2000 too
Unless they mean beating in 90 minutes
I don't think that qualifies as a final
Super cups aren't finals
They are just single tie play off competition
A final is the topmost tie in a series of ties leading to the tie( must have lets say QFs, sfS etc)
Dear Dir Alex we will miss you forever ; sincere Manchester United fan
If you are wondering when the last ucl final was, it was against Liverpool in 81
The last manager to beat Real Madrid in a European final, the last manager to win the Scottish league outside Celtic and Rangers...
A lot of people don't realize that Alex Ferguson was a great manager even BEFORE joining Man United
Sir Alex is the real deal! What a man
This is why it bugs me when people compare Pep to Ferguson! Pep is a great coach let’s not get it twisted in any way… but he done nothing in his career that was ‘against the odds’ or taken a club from places of obscurity or hardship and built them up… To take Aberdeen and break the Old Firm grip is ridiculous, then to win a major European trophy, beating the likes of Bayern and Real…. And then to take a sleeping giant and not only break the dominance but surpass Liverpool in a period going almost 3 decades… Ferguson built Manchester United into a global superpower… Pep has taken great teams/clubs who had all the chips in their favour and basically won like that… and even this notion that he has rewritten football - that’s also a myth! All he has done is do what Johan Cruyff did in the 90’s… he basically copied the total football philosophy and brought it to the modern game… Pep is elite in what he does… but Ferguson is the godfather 😊
SAF is the G.O.A.T.
Still, the 1980’s and before were a different time, before the Bosman ruling and the hyperinflation of player salaries and transfer fees. The days of plucky upstart clubs like Aberdeen or Nottingham Forest winning trophies on the European stage are sadly a thing of the past. Every team in that era had a fighting chance of winning a league or even a European trophy if they got a good manager and the right players because the finances from one club to the next were largely the same.
This is so true. I’m always amazed at what Pep does, how much he dominates, the levels of consistency are unforeseen. For me, the only way this can be a conversation is if we look at how dominant and consistent each has been. Having such elite opposition and going half a season practically unbeaten is a joke as Pep often does. But this is not enough for me to pip Sir Alex who has brought same and bigger level of success to teams when it seemed impossible and has rebuilt teams countless of times.
Simply judge them when they faced each other and you have your answer. Pep's Barca literally blew away Fergie's Utd
Yes you’re right
Guardiola has never coached a small team
Even at Bayern he didn’t win the champions league
@@fpl-trader Pep had Messi, Iniesta, Xavi and the rest…. Let’s see if he’d have done the same with the United team on that day lol… he never won the CL with Bayern did he 😉
Fair play to them, crazy story for Aberdeen
Galatasaray beat real madrid in 2000 super cup final its still an european cup final
Ye you are technically right but i dont think thats what they were going for
It's not a cup competitions the charity shield of European trophy's
Atletico did that in 2018
But I don’t think they count as finals
Community shields and super cups are minor honours
The European Cup was the name for Champions League back then. Not to be confused with UEFA Super Cup.
I'm guessing the Roy of the Rovers style illustrations are to help take us viewers back to 1983?
Thank God I found atleast one Roy of Rovers fan ......
@@Tout-Le-Monde02 part of my childhood!
Aberdeen ❤️ Stand Free❤️
Aberdeen were such a terrific team 👏 😊
If asked what team was the last to beat RM in a Europeen final Aberdeen woulden’t been the first team I think of. But now I know. I hope we get a different answer after Saturday though 🙏
SAF Aberdeen. Saying this before I watch the whole vid
Who's SAF??
@@mikespearwood3914sir alex ferguson
@@mikespearwood3914
Sir
Alex
Ferguson
Sir Alex paid attention to Jock Stein's tutelage.
Aberdeen mentioned 🎉🎉🎉
I’d like to see Pep try win something with a club that is considered an underdog.
Every team he’s managed as been the team with the highest market value within their domestic league.
1981 Liverpool was UCL but called European Cup. Could have cleared the details
Take the poker out yer arse
And people seriously try and compare Pep to him
Bots, the lot of 'em.
Pep surpassed him. Won 4 in a row SAF never done that he even beat his best point tally Pep got 100 points SAF not even close and matched his greatest ever achievement which was the treble and that’s still not even Peps best achievement he even embarrassed him in the biggest game in club football not once but twice
@@steffanh9368 Sir Alex Ferguson never had 115 financial charges 👍
And in those Champions League finals, Pep had the greatest team to ever play football, so yes, he should be winning that
@@JoshPhilp No he just had the refs on his side that’s why when it came to Europe he stuggled, came 3rd in a group with Grothenburg and Barca in 1995, Finished bottom in an easy group in 2006 with Villarreal, Benfica, Lille, Came 3rd in a group with Basel and Benfica in 2012. Pep has never been knocked out in the groups. Pep made that greatest ever team and you Man Utd fans thought you could walk through Barca at that time and SAF got humbled by Pep then humbled again a few years later
@@steffanh9368 me when 115:
Galatasaray won Super Cup from Madrid in 2000. Fener fan.
Details matter! European Cup with capital ‘C’ is the UCL- Liverpool 1981 is the answer.
The Greatest Manager of all time.
Atlético won 2-4 vs Real Madrid in the 2018 UEFA Super Cup
Athletico Madrid vs Real Madrid uefa super cup final
4-2 2018/19
FERGIE was a beast and man want to chat to me about Pep, with Ballers like Messi, at Barca, with the best Bayern team ever assembled, and with an already league winning Man City
I love the illustrations.👍🏻
Roy of the Rovers graphics elite
It had to be Sir Alex Ferguson RESPECT
Shows how real madrid owns UCL
Surprisigly lfc is the last side to beat real madrid in a ucl final
Does the intercontinental championship count?
Because Boca juniors defeated them in 2000
Since when were Boca Juniors EUROPEAN? 🤡
Wasn't that the last time they won the league too? There's a reason why Fergie is a cut above many of the rest. Could your favourite take Aberdeen to win a league and European super cup double? Could the break the local dominance of the Glasgow teams? Could they beat the most dominant European team ever to win a European trophy? And do all what he did at Man United?
Real Madrid in response punished sir alex by eliminating him 3 times in the champion league
Sir Alex the GOAT
If they count the UEFA Super Cup as a European trophy, then why don’t they consider Atleti 4-2 Real Madrid in the 2018 Super Cup as the last time Real Madrid lost in a European final?
Sir Alex Ferguson is a legend and a GOAT
The mighty Aberdeen hAve the privelage of this amazing feat
What Sir Alex did With Aberdeen is nothing short of a miracle, imo his greatest achievement after would be the treble with Man Utd
Nice job in that "UEFA" stitch at the end there. Nearly pulled it off too.
BUT I'M ONTO YOU!
Me as an Excelsior fan:
Never happened to us
Sir Alex the goat 🐐
What about Atletico Madrid 2018/19?
UEFA Super Cup counts, and last one to do it was Atletico in 2018 beating Real 4-2 in Tallinn
This year it will happen again,BVB will win the Champions league.
Heja BVB!!
COME DORTMUND DO IT FOR REUS!!
@RealMadridfc387 Indian 😂😂😂
@RealMadridfc387 Better than India. And Australia owns you 🤣🤣🤣
@RealMadridfc387 Father of India
@RealMadridfc387 “In Sports there’s nothing more satisfying than hearing a big crowd go silent” ~ Pat Cummins 😉🤫🤫🤫
Did JJ wear his Aberdeen kit to work again?
But this is the Cup WInners Cup. Not the European Cup (ie. Champions Club Cup.)
Winning the European Cup with Aberdeen is surely proving why Ferguson is one of the very best managers of all time. Just let that sink in, not Celtic or Rangers which would also be an achievement but tiny Aberdeen.
You can also include Chelsea in 1998, Galatasaray in 2000, and Atletico Madrid in 2018. All 3 of them won the Super Cup after beating Real Madrid, but you know that Super Cup is just a friendly game.
1981 as well when Kennedy stopped them in their tracks 🟥🟥
Fergie at Aberdeen is underrated😢
Exactly why Ferguson is the greatest manger of all time
Videoton also beat Real in 1985 in the UEFA cup final.
None other than Sir Alex Ferguson himself!!!
Boca Juniors Intercontinental Cup 2000
that's not an european cup, but i'd say it was more important
Fun fact : with the change in format real Madrid is 9 wins and 0 losses in the finals the one and only team to do so
Chelsea beat Real Madrid in 1998 Cup winners cup
Stop with the missinformation
« Penalty for Madrid »
This Will happen for bvb saturday inchaalah
Last team who beat Real Madrid in an International Cup is Boooocaaaaaaa 🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷
Sir Alex with the win
isn't the European Cup now called as the Champions League. If it is, then it's Liverpool 1981.
Since 1983 wow
the cup winner's cup isn't the European Cup. Liverpool beat Real in the final last
The ladt team to beat them in a ucl final was Liverpool 1981. 1-0. Alan kennedy.
Two things:
Firstly, I initially didn’t watch this video because I thought it was dealing with European Cup finals rather than European cup finals. If the answer isn’t the famous Aberdeen, I’m not watching the video I thought. Thankfully I was wrong!
Secondly, although the credits claim that Seb wrote this, this has JJ Bull’s mucky little fingerprints all over this and I for one love it 🙌🏻
Sir Alex Ferguson’s Scottish side Aberdeen
How is this short not voiced by JJ???
when VAR didn't exist... the good times
Galatasaray beat them in the super cup 2000
super cup doesn't count
"Through heaven and earth I alone am the best menager"- Sir Alex Ferguson
But the last team to beat Madrid in the UCL was Liverpool in 1981 but it was called the European Cup during this time
Sir Alex is a G.O.A.T. ⚽️🥇🏆
I support Aberdeen Mon the Dons Stand free
Man that's crazy. Aberdeen got more UCL than Assna, Spurs and PShitG 😂
i couldnt find their name in champions league winners list?
Dortmund will win today mark this
Still true
I understand your love for ferguson but Atletico madrid beat real madrid in the super cup final in 2018
what about bayern in 2012/2013?
I'm here after Dortmund failed to beat them in 2024 UCL fina
This was the Cup-Winner's Cup final, not the European Cup.
That would be Liverpool in 1981.
And they talking about Pep being the goat but can only inherit good teams and not build one. SAF beat Madrid with Aberdeen man end of discussion
I knew Fergie was great at Aberdeen but I can’t believe I only just found out and I can’t believe he won the Champions league with Aberdeen
It wasn’t a champions league. It was the equivalent of a mix of Europa league and conference league
2000 Galatasaray beat Real Madrid in Super Cup
SCOTLAAAAAAAND FOOOOOOOOREVEEEEEEEEEER
Wasn't european cup it was the cup winners cup
And the last team to beat madrid in a ucl final is liverpool in 1981 in paris. That's insane to think since then they havent lost a final. Can dortmund be the first
I thought it was Liverpool 1981
this is why SAF is the best
Bro said abadeen naah we are all cooked
No way you’re counting the Cup Winners’ Cup 😂 The last team to ACTUALLY beat them was Liverpool 1981 1-0 Alan Kennedy which made Bob Paisley the first manager to win 3 European Cups
People compare sir Alex to Pep😂😂
Liverpool beat them in the ACTUAL European Cup final 2 years prior but that didn’t even get a footnote?
